3. Crush the potatoes with a masher or casually puree them with a blender. The puree should not be very smooth; it is much better if there are pieces of potato left in it. To make the puree in this recipe, I used only boiled potatoes with water. If desired, instead of broth, you can add 1 raw egg with butter, 0.5 cups of milk or 1 cup of sour cream. You need to pour the liquid ingredients into hot potatoes, just removed from the heat and without water. And the main thing is not to overdo it with additional liquids; the puree should turn out thick and dense.

4. Let's start preparing the meat filling for the casserole. Peel the carrots, rinse under running water, and grate on a coarse grater.

5. Pour a few tablespoons of vegetable oil into a large frying pan (there will be a lot of filling). Place on medium heat. Place carrots in heated oil.

6. Peel the onion, rinse and finely chop.

7. Transfer to the pan with the carrots and stir. Fry the vegetables until the onion is transparent, that is, until half cooked.

8. Place minced meat in a frying pan.

9. Knead it thoroughly with a spatula, thereby getting rid of large lumps. And mix with the frying. Fry over medium heat. Stir occasionally so that the minced meat cooks evenly and does not burn.

12. Simmer over low heat until most of the liquid has evaporated (about 10-15 minutes). The minced meat should remain with a small amount of tomato sauce.

13. Grease the baking dish with a small amount of vegetable oil. Spread half of the mashed potatoes.

14. Carefully level with a spoon.

Once the casserole dish has cooled well, you can cover it with a lid and put it in the refrigerator for another 3-4 hours.

23. Cut the cooled casserole, sprinkle with finely chopped onion and serve. It can be heated in the microwave before use.
