Mirror ceiling in the bathroom - installation technology, features and types of modern projects (85 photos). Mirror ceiling in the bathroom Bath mirrors from a glossy white ceiling

The bathroom is a small room, and it doesn’t hurt to visually enlarge it with the help of mirrors and glossy surfaces. Therefore, you can buy a mirrored ceiling for the bathroom at a price of 95 rubles. for a mirror or from 1 thousand rubles. per square meter (the price of the suspension system will be added to this cost).

The advantages of such ceilings for bathrooms:

  • environmental friendliness is an important condition for choosing finishing materials, especially for your apartment or house;
  • more light and space for a small bathroom;
  • Thanks to the suspended structure, it is easy to hide all the unevenness and defects of the main ceiling. Thus, it does not need to be specially prepared, leveled or sanded before installation.

An equally important advantage is ease of maintenance. This ceiling can be washed or wiped using mirror liquid, and it will always be like new.

Since glass and metal (steel) do not corrode, your repair will be very durable. But even if you want to update the interior of the bathroom, then, as a rule, the mirror surface will reflect the walls and finishing elements and thus will fit perfectly with the new design.

To install spotlights, you can immediately order mirrors with 75 mm holes.

The mirror ceiling can be mounted directly or diagonally, depending on your desire. Different panels can be combined with each other. The panels presented here are small in size (30x30 cm), which are perfect for a small bathroom, however, you can choose a larger size (60x60 cm).

A mirrored ceiling is not a cheap pleasure, but in its practicality and durability, as well as style and beauty, it surpasses many other finishing options. Order it from us, and your bathroom will delight you for many years!

Mirrored ceilings in the bathroom are a non-standard and very modern option for decorating ceiling coverings in rooms with high humidity.

This method of finishing not only decorates the interior, but is also a fairly conveniently equipped structure in terms of operation and regular maintenance.

Mirrored ceilings installed in bathrooms and shower rooms not only have an original appearance, but also have excellent performance characteristics and many other advantages:

  • Good moisture resistance. The glass surface can well withstand the negative effects of moisture and vapor. Under conditions of proper installation of the ceiling covering, mold or mildew does not appear on such a finish, and the absolute tightness of the seams serves as reliable protection of the surface from the accumulation of condensation.
  • Visual expansion of space thanks to the excellent reflection of light fluxes from the mirror cladding. This design technique is very effective in small bathrooms, so it is widely used in modern room decor.
  • Possibility of self-installation, which is due to the variety of installation options and designs used.

Mirror ceiling in the bathroom

Mirror finish is distinguished by its presentable appearance and durability, as well as being easy to care for and very convenient to use.

The features of mirrored ceilings also include some subjective disadvantages, the main ones of which are the high cost of finishing materials and the need for strict adherence to the finishing technology.

Options for mirrored ceilings in the bathroom

When choosing an option for decorating a ceiling structure with a mirror finish, you need to remember that each method has both its advantages and some disadvantages.

Slatted mirror ceiling for the bathroom

The mirror ceiling surface of the slatted type is represented by long aluminum strips with high-quality mirror coating.

Aluminum profile structures can be made in different colors and shades, but during the selection process you must remember that the slats should not have a contrast with the shade of the mirror panel.

Rack type ceiling

This ceiling option is currently the most popular in the ranking of mirror-type finishes due to its convenience and ease of installation, as well as the absence of the need to carefully pre-level the surface for cladding.

Drywall is a hygroscopic material, but it is used for finishing the bathroom. – Read carefully about the advantages and disadvantages.

Cheap and simple - the ceiling is made of plastic panels, read all about installation.

Don't want to level your bathroom ceilings? Make a false ceiling. The installation procedure is described.

Polystyrene version

Mirror-type polystyrene elements are represented by special panels, on the surface of which a polyethylene film is applied.

This version of the finishing material belongs to the category of shockproof, and one of the sides is covered with an adhesive base, which greatly facilitates the process of self-assembly.

Polystyrene ceiling

Before installation, the roll is rolled out to straighten it. If the elements do not have an adhesive base, then purchase it and apply it yourself.

The disadvantages of this finish include an insufficient level of moisture resistance.

Classic mirror option

In terms of reflective effect, the classic mirror finish is the best design. It is this cladding material that allows for optimal visual expansion and high-quality illumination of the bathroom space.

Classic ceiling

The finishing elements differ in size and color, and also help to disguise all communications.

The cassette type of construction facilitates partial dismantling and replacement of failed ceiling panels.

Mirror stretch ceiling in the bathroom

Modern mirrored stretch ceilings are very popular both in our country and among foreign consumers. The option is a thin and light film, the dimensions of which correspond to the area of the ceiling surface.

Stretch ceiling The stretch ceiling looks very impressive, but is a close imitation of a mirror, since the glossy surface simply has a beautiful shine.

This finish does not fog up or become covered with water droplets during water procedures.

Excellent water resistance allows you to protect the bathroom when the room is flooded by neighbors from the upper floors.

Installation stages and timing

An installation option that is quite simple to do on your own is the installation of a slatted mirror ceiling. A suspended beam structure is fixed to the ceiling plane, and then slats are attached to install the panels. In this case, there is no need to perform complete dismantling; it is enough to partially replace the ceiling trim, but the overall height of the room is reduced.

Installation of mirror ceilings

If tile and panel finishing elements are fixed to the ceiling surface with screws and a special adhesive, then other options may require the installation of a special suspended frame base of the Armstrong system. Beveled mirror ceilings are mounted using a standard suspension system and laying elements in a T-shaped frame or by gluing slabs to the Tigi Knauf frame system.

It is important to remember that fixing tiles directly to the ceiling is possible only if there is an absolutely smooth and even surface, since otherwise the aesthetics of the finished finish will be greatly affected.

Price

A very wide range of mirror-type ceiling finishes makes it quite easy to choose the most suitable option in terms of design and price:

  • mirror ceiling “Photo printing” – from 1800 rubles;
  • mirror ceiling “Silver” - from 1500 rubles;
  • “Rack” ceiling B - from 1,700 rubles;
  • Armstrong type mirror ceilings - from 2200 rub./m2;
  • ceilings with decorative fittings - That’s 2700 rubles/m2.

Mirrored ceilings with a facet or a so-called hidden suspension system, the cost of which starts at 6,500 rubles/m2, will cost the consumer quite a lot.

If necessary, you can order not only the installation of mirrored ceiling trim, but also the development of an exclusive sketch and electrical installation work on the completed cladding.

Durability, reliability and aesthetic appeal are the main criteria when choosing a bathroom ceiling finish. – this article will help you make your choice.

The step-by-step installation of a ceiling made of plastic panels in a bathroom is described.

The desire to decorate the ceiling covering in the shower often prompts the search for very non-standard options. At the same time, the design should be distinguished by increased performance qualities, as well as an attractive appearance.

A mirrored ceiling in the bathroom is just such a solution! It visually expands the room and makes it more original. This method of decorating space is in stable demand in the domestic finishing materials market.

In addition, it is worth noting the possibility of installing mirrored ceilings with your own hands. A wide range allows you to choose a ceiling of various price categories, from economy options to the most expensive designs. Resistance to high humidity, temperature changes, steam and condensation are significant advantages of the product. However, that's not all! Positive aspects of mirror models:

In addition to the positive aspects, the material also has negative characteristics. They can be classified as subjective factors, however, they still need to be taken into account. The ceiling covering made from a mirror is very demanding to use. To avoid streaks from steam or condensation, the surface must be thoroughly wiped using special products. Separately, it is worth noting the high price of the product, which will become a certain problem.

Varieties

To be fair, it must be said that a mirrored ceiling in a bathroom can be presented in several forms. Mainly, the types of floors differ in the principles of installation. In addition, it is worth adding a different price range, the ability to hide flaws in the ceiling surface and, in fact, the appearance. Thus, mirror coating is divided into the following types:

  1. Plastic panels. These products are an economical option. In terms of external gloss, they are inferior to natural glass, however, they have their own advantages. Plastic models are difficult to break, their price is significantly lower than their counterparts made from other materials, and their flexibility is at a high level. In addition, it is possible to select models that are almost in no way inferior to natural glass.

    Plastic mirror ceiling

  2. Mirror plates. A popular way to decorate a shower room. Ceiling covering as a composite mosaic of mirror elements is used quite widely. Glass parts in the form of squares must be installed very carefully over the entire surface. Otherwise, there is a possibility that the material, due to its fragility, will become unusable.

  3. Self-adhesive film. This is the easiest option for creating a ceiling from a mirror in a shower room without significant costs. At the same time, the film is significantly inferior to the original both in performance properties and in appearance.

  4. One-piece mirror. This method is quite expensive, and is very rarely used in practice for finishing large bathrooms. Installing a product with your own hands is a troublesome task, requiring certain knowledge and skills. Therefore, hiring specialists will be relatively expensive. Although the final result will look impressive, more than recouping all costs.
  5. Rack and pinion models. Mirror products, made by analogy with slats, have their own charm, as well as advantages. They reliably hide all flaws on the surface of the rough ceiling. When installed correctly, this design is similar in functionality to mirror slabs.

    Slatted mirror ceiling

  6. Mirror stretch ceiling. It is a model from a slightly different area, however, it has similar characteristics and appearance. The coating looks attractive and is practical to use, but the mirror image is far from ideal.

Advantages

A mirrored ceiling for a shower room not only looks original and has excellent performance characteristics, but also has a number of other advantages. Strengths of the material:

Weak sides

The disadvantages of a mirror ceiling are subjective. For example, the high cost is offset by the chic appearance, as well as the performance characteristics of the material.

In addition, with proper installation, processing and cutting, mirror components will last for decades. Do-it-yourself installation will allow you to significantly save on arranging a shower room. All you need to do is show a little perseverance and the mirror ceiling will be ready.

In addition, you can reduce costs by using plastic elements, which are much cheaper. You should also pay attention to proper glass care. In order to avoid streaks, you need to constantly use special cleaning products, and quite often. A good alternative in this case would be frosted mirrors, since stains are not very visible on them.

Advantages of mirror design

In addition to giving the bathroom a chic look, this coating can significantly increase the height of walls in rooms where it is needed. Of all the possible advantages, this type of ceiling has:

  • the ability to install it on a ceiling that is not too flat, without carrying out preliminary measures to achieve an ideal surface;
  • various variations of execution and implementation of various design projects and solutions. Suitable for different types of premises and fits into any interior style;
  • a very simple care system, which may consist of wiping the mirrored ceiling covering with a dry cloth, or for more serious contamination, using special products for cleaning glass and mirrors;
  • the ability to install a mirror ceiling with other types of materials, which is an additional advantage for designers and allows them to implement the most original solutions;
  • simplicity of installation work, in which there is no need to use various preliminary works regarding the ceiling surface, or other kinds of “dirty” work;
  • the ability to increase the degree of illumination in the room, even taking into account the use of a minimum number of light sources;
  • the ability to integrate additional light sources of different types.

There are a few disadvantages of this ceiling design, but they should also be known and kept in mind:

  1. Mark enough and need regular care.
  2. Some types of ceilings have a high cost.
  3. Quite fragile.

Species diversity

Mirror designs for the ceiling in the bathroom can have different variations. There are four types of mirrored ceilings in the bathroom, each of them has its own special parameters, which allow you to choose the one you need for your individual case.

Ceiling view Peculiarities
Cassette This type of structure is considered one of the most popular in use. This ceiling covering system is quite easy to install. There are also a number of disadvantages to this type of mirror ceiling. The main disadvantage is that it does not withstand moisture well enough. Cassettes that are made of mirror have nothing to do with it, everything rests on profiles that are made using a material that has a very low density and thickness. The profile is coated with one layer of paint to provide protection, but it lasts for a two-year service life, after which it is necessary to replace the mirror surface. Regarding the bathroom, this option is not very convenient to use, but it is inexpensive. The technology used to install the ceiling is Armstrong. In addition, it is possible to install spotlights, as well as special ones, into the ceiling structure. To do this, it is necessary to install additional suspensions.
Rack (suspended) This type of mirror flow is best for the bathroom. This ceiling is mainly made of aluminum, and this metal is not exposed to moisture and does not corrode. In addition, a significant advantage of this type of ceiling is the ability to easily and simply install it yourself. Also, the use of the ceiling is possible for quite a long time, exceeding a ten-year period of time. Another plus is that this type can be arranged in several tiers, combining differently colored slats. As for the installation of a ceiling that has many tiers, it is better to leave this to the craftsmen, but you can independently install the ceiling in one tier.
Plastic This type of mirror ceiling is considered the most economical. It is very easy to assemble a ceiling structure with your own hands; in addition, its cost is significantly lower than others. This ceiling is represented by ordinary PVC panels, which are made of plastic and additionally painted with a special composition, resulting in a mirror-like surface. The ceiling structure is fastened with brackets, with which the ceiling is attached to a pre-equipped supporting profile. The system by which the ceiling mirror is installed is simplified.
Tensioner Making a mirror ceiling for a stretch-type bathroom is a rather complicated process. This design is made individually for each specific case, repeating the parameters of the room. This process is carried out only in enterprises using special equipment. Also, to install a mirror ceiling of this type, it is necessary to use additional specialized equipment, and therefore installing such a ceiling with your own hands is impossible. It must be done by masters.
In addition to the fact that the advantages of a tension type ceiling mirror structure include a high degree of reliability, durability in use and a beautiful appearance, they have the so-called ability to be an obstacle to floods that neighbors above can cause. This material, which is used in the suspended structure of a mirror ceiling, has a special film that does not allow water to pass through. The material can withstand water pressure of 100 liters. To eliminate trapped water during a flood or in any other way, you simply need to make several punctures using a regular needle and wait until the water spontaneously flows out of the ceiling structure, after which you give it time to dry. Such a ceiling is not afraid of waterlogging and increased pressure of a certain volume of water for the reason that the material in this case will only sag a little, and after removing excess moisture from the structure, it will again take its previous appearance. Naturally, such a ceiling itself is very resistant to high humidity and is an ideal option for purchasing for a bathroom.

Important parameters When deciding on the choice of a certain type of mirror ceiling for the bathroom, it is very important to remember some parameters that you should pay attention to when making a purchase. There are a number of requirements that a mirror ceiling must have:

  • Be resistant to changes in temperature levels, which can occur quite abruptly in the bathroom. In addition to the mirror material itself, such characteristics must also be inherent in all other structural elements, such as fasteners. Only those that are moisture resistant should be used.
  • Have the opportunity to leave as simply and quickly as possible. Considering that the mirror material itself requires regular attention so that it can remain attractive and not lose its original appearance, the process of cleaning and cleaning the ceiling should take as little time and effort as possible.
  • It is advisable to choose a design with minimal weight that will not weigh down the ceiling surface and lead to increased loads.
  • The quality of the material plays an important role when choosing, because taking into account the environmental conditions in the bathroom, there is a possibility that any low-quality material will emit substances harmful to humans. Therefore, it is worth purchasing a ceiling made from high-quality raw materials.

The process of installing a mirror ceiling

When understanding the installation of ceiling coverings, you should note that it can be done in several ways, namely:

  1. on screws;
  2. gluing;
  3. using the Armstrong system.

The first option is good because, if necessary, you can easily replace any structural element, without the need to dismantle the entire ceiling covering.

The second option is only suitable if the surface of the ceiling is very flat and smooth, or if there is a desire to do preliminary work on leveling the ceiling.

Installation option Process description
Installation with screws

To carry out installation work on a mirrored ceiling in a bathroom, you need to use a hammer drill, a screwdriver and have the required number of screws; you will also need a stepladder. The sequence of actions is as follows:
  • The first step is to carry out some work to prepare the ceiling surface, which consists of attaching sheets of plasterboard to the ceiling.
  • Next you should start drilling holes in the right places in the corners of the slabs.
  • The next step is to secure them with screws and dowels, onto which you should definitely put washers made of rubber. This nuance should be taken into account in order to prevent damage to surfaces.
  • To ensure even greater reliability in fastening the slabs to the ceiling. It is best to coat them with glue, after which you can attach them one by one.
Gluing

The gluing process is also divided into certain stages:
  • A very important step in this option for installing a mirror ceiling is leveling the ceiling surface. Without this process, it is impossible to glue mirror plates efficiently and reliably. Leveling can be done using moisture-resistant plasterboard or plywood.
  • After bringing the ceiling surface into proper shape is completed, you should begin to apply the adhesive composition to the mirror plates one by one. Application is carried out along the edges of the perimeter of the slab.
  • After the adhesive is applied, it is necessary to ensure that the tiles are pressed against the ceiling for some time. You need to approach this process responsibly so that later the mirror structure does not fall off the ceiling.
  • The gluing of the plates must be done one at a time, making sure that the previous one is securely attached.
Armstrong

Sequence of actions in the process of installing the Armstrong ceiling:
  • Initially, you should carry out measuring manipulations and leave marks in the places necessary for a particular case.
  • The next stage is determining the location for the lamps.
  • Next, the conditional profile is attached to the wall or column. The connecting elements in this case are dowels.
  • After this, the suspensions are attached to the ceiling surface.
  • Next, the main view, transverse and longitudinal views of the profiles are installed.
  • Initially, the main profile is installed, which must be aligned after installation.
  • After this, a transverse fork of profiles is installed, which is mounted in the groove formed between the main profiles.
  • The place for mounting longitudinal profiles is a notch, which is located between the main and transverse profiles.
  • The slabs are laid in accordance with the instructions on this, which are on the back of the slabs.
  • Tiles that are too tight to the wall must be shortened with a knife.

Lighting

Any room needs lighting, and the bathroom is no exception. Considering the type of ceiling covering that is installed in the bathroom, there are several points to take into account:

  • It is very important to install all lighting fixtures at the same time that work on the installation of the structure itself is underway. It is not recommended to do this when the mirror ceiling covering has already been installed.
  • Regarding the choice of light sources, it should be remembered that mirrors have the inherent property of increasing the illumination in a room by about half. In accordance with this, light bulbs of suitable power are selected.
  • If the mirrored ceiling in the bathroom has patterns or patterns, then the best option is to place lighting at those points that will ensure uniform light falling on the pattern or design.
  • It is advisable to make a choice and determine the installation location of the lamps in such a way that they are as inconspicuous as possible. This should be done for the reason that the emphasis in the interior will be on the ceiling, which means that prominent lighting fixtures will be redundant and difficult to perceive.

Care process

The coating of the mirror ceiling in the bathroom is quite dirty and quickly becomes dirty, so maintenance must be done regularly. This type of ceiling looks good and decorates the room only if it has a clean surface that is free of streaks, water drops and other contaminants. To make the ceiling shine and be well-groomed and clean allow some manipulations:

  • Get into the habit of cleaning and cleaning the ceiling covering in the bathroom once a week. Then the cleaning process will not take much time and will be quick and easy.
  • To remove various kinds of stains and stains, use a rag material that is very soft in structure so as not to leave scratches on the coating.
  • In case of more serious contamination or a large number of stains, you should resort to the use of cleaning products that are used for glass surfaces. You can wipe the sprayed product onto the ceiling with a napkin, then the stains will go away much faster.

At first glance, it seems that the mirror ceiling in the bathroom requires quite a lot of effort in caring for it, but if everything is done rationally and correctly, and most importantly regularly, then this process will not bring much inconvenience, and the mirror surface on the ceiling will decorate and please the eye .

How to properly decorate a ceiling from a mirror

When purchasing a mirrored ceiling for a bathroom, everyone thinks about how to fit it into the interior of the room. Despite the fact that mirror ceiling covering is quite versatile, there are several tips that will help in the design process:

  1. It is best if the mirrored ceiling in the bathroom has the same style as other elements of the bathroom. For example, it is ideal to make patterns or designs, different frames and frames the same on a mirrored ceiling, shower stall, bathtub or walls.
  2. Mirrored ceilings are also good for delimiting the space of a room. This can be done using multi-colored mirror panels. This design option will look ideal in bathrooms with a fairly large area.
  3. to harmonize all the objects located in a bathroom with a mirrored ceiling, you can resort to special adhesive patterns. They can decorate both the ceiling and the sink, bathtub and walls. The main thing in this matter is to know when to stop and not create a feeling of piling up.

The desire to make living space unique pushes us to search for extraordinary solutions for interior design. The mirrored ceiling in the bathroom is one example of thinking outside the box.

This approach not only guarantees a visual expansion of the space, but also demonstrates a bold design solution that takes the design of the entire bathroom to a new level. Reviews of the installed mirror ceiling in the bathroom are extremely enthusiastic.

Installing a mirrored ceiling in a bathroom is quite feasible for people with different levels of income. There are economical options and there are super expensive, luxurious designs.

Economy options for mirrored ceilings

Inexpensive mirrored ceilings perfectly imitate a mirror thanks to a special coating that can reflect light very effectively. The cost of 1 square meter of such ceilings ranges from $15 to $55.

This group includes ceilings:

  • Tension vinyl
  • Mirror slatted

Stretch mirrored vinyl ceilings

A very popular type of mirror ceiling. Its undoubted advantage is a wide selection of color shades of the reflective surface. A suspended mirror ceiling in a bathroom looks most advantageous in combination with its other types. Especially with multi-level ceilings made from moisture-resistant plasterboard boards.

The mirror effect is mainly provided by the glossy surfaces of stretch ceilings. Darker shades increase the reflectivity of the vinyl. To maximize light reflection, manufacturers produce vinyl films with an additional layer, which significantly enhances the imitation of a mirror.

The installation of a mirrored vinyl ceiling is no different from the usual installation of a tension ceiling:

  • Along the perimeter of the room, at the level of the planned ceiling, special plastic or aluminum baguettes are placed
  • Vinyl is heated with warm air to increase its elasticity
  • The surface of the stretch ceiling is straightened, the seams are leveled and tucked into baguettes
  • After the vinyl has cooled, it will stretch, become elastic, and only under warranty will last at least 10 years.

But no matter how hard manufacturers try, it is not possible to achieve an absolute mirror effect in this version. There is a slight blurring of the lines in the reflection.

Stretch mirror ceiling

Mirror slatted ceiling

The slats for the suspended mirror ceiling are made of aluminum. To obtain a reflective effect, a chrome layer is applied to the panels and thoroughly polished. The quality is such that mirror slatted ceilings for the bathroom are very difficult to distinguish from real mirrors.

Installation of a mirrored slatted ceiling

Very simple and quick assembly of a slatted ceiling can be done even by a non-professional. Manufacturers have created an excellent construction kit, according to the clear instructions of which the suspended ceiling is assembled.

Brief description of the assembly process:

  • Making markings for the future ceiling
  • We fasten the wall corners
  • We hang guides for slats - traverses
  • We mount slats with a mirror coating on them

Naturally, when assembling, we do not forget about lighting, which, with a mirror effect, is better mounted on slats.

The appearance of this ceiling is magnificent, but there are still minor flaws in the reflection.

The splendor of the mirror on the ceiling

A real, not imitation, mirror ceiling in the bathroom is a source of heightened and pleasant mood every time you take a bath or shower.

The mirror is polished glass 3–7 mm thick, with a thin coating of silver, bronze, titanium or, in a particularly expensive version, gold applied on one side. Unique combinations of coatings are possible that can give the mirror a colored reflection. The type of coating changes the shade of the mirror, but does not reduce its reflective characteristics. Silver plating is the most common.

Processing its edges at an angle of up to 45 degrees helps to maximize the beauty of the mirror. This finish is called bevelling. The ceiling made of beveled mirrors is breathtaking with its beauty and completeness of form.

Beveled mirrors on the bathroom ceiling

A design solution for decorating the ceiling can leave minimal joints between mirrors open or hide them under decorative narrow strips.

Placing mirrors on the ceiling in the bathroom guarantees 100% full reflection of light, but also significantly increases the requirements for personal safety. Mirrors are a rather heavy finishing material that requires very reliable fixation. Especially when it comes to the ceiling in the bathroom.

Types of installation of mirrors on the bathroom ceiling

When working with a mirror, precautions must be taken. The glass from which the mirror is made is a very fragile material.

Important! When accidentally broken, sharp edges are formed that can cause deep cutting wounds.

In almost all types of ceiling installation you will have to deal with cutting. The mirror must be cut on a perfectly flat surface with a glass cutter, which must be soaked in kerosene immediately before the process. The cut will be perfectly smooth.

Using a diamond-coated core drill, holes are drilled for the lighting elements. To obtain technological holes of small diameter, special diamond-coated glass drills are used.

There are three options for implementing the idea of a ceiling made of mirrors:

  • Fasteners based on special glue
  • Using dowels and screws with rubber gaskets
  • Suspended ceiling kits from manufacturers

Adhesive connection

The first option is very simple at first glance. In fact, it involves the ideal preparation of the site for gluing the mirror. It should be as smooth and durable as possible. Often it is necessary to pre-install a reliable suspended structure.

Important! It is prohibited to glue mirrors to the plaster layer. Adhesive installation must be carried out directly either on a concrete floor, or on a moisture-resistant plasterboard, or on moisture-resistant plywood.

When mounting a mirror on the wall, glue is applied to its inner surface, along the perimeter and crosswise. When attaching a mirror to the ceiling, it is advisable to apply glue around the perimeter and in zigzags along the entire remaining internal plane. In this option, there is no threat of large pieces of the mirror collapsing if it is accidentally damaged, which could cause injury.

Important! Branded suspended ceiling designs use mirrors with protective films applied to them on the inside, which can hold all the fragments in the event of a destructive blow. There is a complete analogy here with car glass.

A significant advantage of the adhesive method is the ability to safely mount very large mirrors on the ceiling.

Fastening a mirror using dowels

Installing mirrors on the ceiling using dowels is reliable and simple. Due to the large weight of mirrors, small sizes are used in this type of installation. The maximum side length should not exceed 60 cm.

As a rule, holes for fasteners are drilled in the corners of the mirrors. Rubber gaskets must be placed under the dowel screws, and the dowel heads are covered with decorative overlays.

This method has an advantage. There is no need to install a suspended structure and ideally level the ceiling. The horizontal level of the entire ceiling is leveled by the degree of tightening of the screws.

If the base ceiling is flat, then use a combined adhesive joint with dowels along the edges of the mirror.

Branded suspended structures

Well-known construction brands Albes (Russia), Geipel (Germany), Donn (Germany), Armstrong (England) offer various ready-made sets of suspended mirror ceilings.

There are two main directions for installing a mirrored ceiling in a bathroom:

  • Diagonally across the room
  • Parallel to the walls

The first option looks preferable, but involves a significantly larger number of mirror cuts.

If the choice is made in favor of the direction of mirrors in the bathroom parallel to the walls, then installation should begin from the far wall from the front door. In this case, shortened mirrors will be located near the entrance and will be less visually noticeable.
