Fold the frame along the folds as shown in the picture. Fold the short sides first, then the long ones. Insert the corners of the long sides of the photo frame into the holes in the short sides.

If the paper is very thick and you doubt it will hold up, you can add a drop of hot glue. But this is completely optional.

Idea: blog.kreativbuehne.de

In our ever-rushing digital age, sometimes you want to stop, sit down in your favorite chair and just relax. It is at such moments that many of us pick up the big one with photographs. When looking at a photograph, the thought suddenly arises that it would be nice to put it on a shelf or hang it on the wall. But due to the fact that there is no suitable frame, we again send the photo to lie between the pages of the album. Wait, don’t rush and hide the picture, you can create a frame from scrap material. What and how to make a frame from? From cardboard. Yes, yes, ordinary cardboard, which is found in every home.

Cardboard frame - a new activity

So, one cozy evening, flipping through the pages of the album, laughingly telling your child about how once upon a time you were also a baby, you suddenly wanted to leave a couple of pictures in sight, enclosing them in an original frame. Creating a frame out of paper and cardboard will help you pass the evening, and this is another great way to teach your child something new and interesting. Feel free to get down to business! Its production will not require large time and financial costs.

Cardboard frame: necessary materials

A simple do-it-yourself cardboard frame is made using the most common materials, such as cardboard, ribbons, fabric, leftover wallpaper, beads, shells brought from a summer vacation, and other items suitable for decoration. You will also need scissors, a ruler, a pencil. Raw cereals can be an interesting design solution - it can be peas, buckwheat, semolina or any other. How to make a frame from cardboard using cereal will be discussed below; undoubtedly, many will like this decoration option.

Simple frame

To make the simplest frame you will need:

White cardboard;

Decoration items (in this case, beads were used);

Stationery.

Two rectangular blanks are cut out of cardboard. For 10x15 they should be 13.5x18.5 cm. Now in one of them you need to cut a window, which should be slightly smaller than the photo itself. If desired, you can attach a film to this window on the back side, for example, a piece from a transparent file, to protect the photo from dust. The photograph must be secured at the corners using thin strips of paper between the blanks, with the image in the window. Now you can cover the blanks with fabric and decorate them with beads. Don't forget to attach a stand to the back of the frame - a triangle cut out of cardboard or a loop to hang it on the wall. This is how a simple frame is made quickly and easily. Agree, even a child can handle this.

Simple frame decorated with cereals

Creating such a frame is not at all difficult. The principle of its manufacture is the same as in the previous description. Only the decoration method changes. The cereal is glued onto the front blank using PVA. If it is peas, then each pea is glued separately. You can even use semolina, millet, buckwheat. After the glue has dried well, the cereal must be varnished, allowed to dry, painted in any suitable color and covered again with a layer of varnish. The result is a very unusual cardboard frame made using the “cereal” technique. Made with your own hands, it will delight your eyes for a long time.

Scrapbooking frame

This option is somewhat more difficult to implement than the previous ones and will require a little more time and effort. A photo frame made of cardboard, decorated with fabric, looks stylish and quite unusual. To make such a thing you will need:

Sheet of scrap paper 30x30 cm;

A piece of scrap paper 10.5x15.5 cm;

Brads (nails or buttons with a decorative head);

A small piece of padding polyester;

- "Moment Crystal".

To make such a frame from cardboard, you need to cut out several parts: the front and back sides (size 24x18.7 and 18.5x13.5 cm), the leg (16 cm). The window in the frame is cut out based on the size of the photo. The cover of the frame is cut out of fabric. When cutting, do not forget to make a small (approx. 1.5 cm) indentation from the edge for bends. The front part is cut out of padding polyester, the one with the window. You can begin to form the frame itself. To do this, the front side needs to be smeared with a thin layer of glue and the synthetic padding is secured; prepared fabric is placed on top of it, which needs to be glued, bending the material to the back side, starting from the corners. It should look like a pillow. Now you need to make the middle of the frame, that is, the very window. Carefully, not forgetting about small indents, a rectangle of the required size is cut out, the fabric is folded and glued. To make the frame even more attractive, you can stitch its edges using a sewing machine. To decorate a scrap frame, you can use ribbon bows, brads, beads and other small decoration items. The back side is covered with scrap paper, and a leg is attached to it for stability.

Cardboard photo frames made using the scrapbooking technique differ from all others in their delicate, extremely attractive design and can serve as an excellent gift.

Coffee frame made of cardboard, master class

Necessary materials:

Thick cardboard;

Coffee beans;

Acrylic lacquer;

Stationery;

1. Prepare the base for the frame. To do this, rectangles are cut out of cardboard, front and back sides. In the front part, depending on the size of the image, a window is made.

2. The front side is covered with a material of a suitable color.

3. A window for the photo is carefully formed.

5. Coffee beans are glued to the fabric. For this purpose, it is better to use “Moment Crystal” or liquid nails.

6. After all the grains are glued, you can cover them with two or three layers of varnish with intermediate drying of each layer.

7. The frame can be decorated with a variety of little things - such as satin ribbons tied in beautiful bows, figurines of coffee cups and spoons.

8. The desired photo is fixed in the window.

9. The front and back parts are glued together.

10. The stand for the frame will be a rectangle cut out of cardboard, which is attached to the back of the product.

Frame with eggshells

You can also decorate the cut out base for a photo frame with eggshells.
The result is a certain effect of aging with cracks, or a mosaic. Before gluing the shell onto the cardboard, it must be properly prepared. First, rinse thoroughly. Secondly, remove all internal films. Thirdly, dry it well. Only after such preparation can the shells be painted with acrylic paints in any colors, let the paint dry and break the shells into small pieces.

The front side of the future frame must also be painted in a suitable color. It is not at all necessary to use paint of the same shade. For example, bright pink, bright blue, raspberry and white colors combine perfectly with each other. Playing on their contrast gives a stunningly beautiful result. Shell fragments are glued to the front side in random order, forming a kind of mosaic. In this simple way, using available materials, you can make a cardboard frame with your own hands.

Good luck with your ideas and success!

DIY children's photo frame

The life of almost every person is accompanied by photographs and photo albums. People try to place photos that are especially dear to their hearts in plain sight. Previously, they were hung on walls. Now, more and more often, photographs are placed on shelves, bedside tables and tables. But to place them there, you need photo frames. They are a hot commodity today. But here's the catch - exclusive photo frames are in fashion! That is, emphasizing your individuality, imagination and even the style of your home or apartment. Well, there are a lot of ways to create a beautiful and unique photo frame.

Cardboard frame: principles of use

Any framed photo will look different, but there are a few things to consider.

  • The photo frame should emphasize the advantages of the photo; for this, they must be combined with each other and complement each other.
  • But combining does not mean merging, so first you need to carefully think through the color of the future frame.
  • The size of the frame should also correspond to the size of the picture, be a little larger, otherwise the picture will simply be lost in the frame.
  • Do not forget that the frame is selected specifically for the photo, and not for other interior items.

DIY frame: what you need to prepare

If you decide to place photographs that are dear to you in frames of your own making, you will need:

  • cardboard;
  • paper or fabric, depending on what you decide to use for decoration;
  • all kinds of little things for decorating a frame: shells and pebbles, beads and buttons, coffee beans, cereals or peas, egg trays or shells, etc.;
  • glue and a brush for it, a stationery knife, scissors, a simple pencil and a ruler.

Various cardboard frames

If you take a simple cardboard frame as a basis, you will have the opportunity to create many options for photo frames, decorating it in an unusual way.

Simple frame

This frame requires minimal effort.

Having prepared everything you need, we get to work.

  1. Cut out a rectangle of free size from cardboard, but larger than the photograph.
  2. In the center of this rectangle we cut out another one, slightly smaller than the photo.
  3. We decorate the frame in a way that you have thought out in advance. The most basic thing is to draw something on it.
  4. Cut out another rectangle from thick paper that will cover the window on the back of the photo frame.
  5. Glue the rectangle, but leave one side unglued; the photo will be inserted through it.
  6. Depending on where the frame will be located, we attach a loop or a cardboard support leg to it.

You can also use corrugated cardboard to make a photo frame. The benefit is that by making a frame using the method described above, you can elegantly decorate it with the same corrugated cardboard. Discreet and sophisticated style

Cardboard bamboo - almost like real

Looks like real bamboo!

One of the interesting and fairly simple ideas is a bamboo frame. In this case, ordinary cardboard “transformed” into bamboo will also serve as bamboo.

  1. To create such a frame, we take tubes of foil or baking paper. They can be used whole, or you can cut them in half lengthwise if you want your frame to be flat on the inside.
  2. Then the “bamboo” blanks are covered with any wrapping paper and glued together.
  3. When the glue dries, coat the tubes thoroughly with brown putty.
  4. When everything is dry, the tubes need to be rubbed with fine sandpaper and varnished.
  5. All that remains is to stick the “bamboo” onto a pre-prepared cardboard stretcher.

Coffee decor - notes of comfort

Coffee beans give comfort

If you want to emphasize the comfort and harmony of your home, there is nothing better than a photo frame covered with coffee beans.

  1. First we work on the base for the frame; we make it, as described earlier, from thick cardboard.
  2. We cover the front side of the frame with fabric.
  3. Coffee beans are glued onto the fabric (with Moment glue or liquid nails).
  4. Then the grains are varnished in two or three layers (each previous layer must dry).
  5. Next, you can decorate the frame with various little things to your taste (small bows, flowers, cut out coffee cups).
  6. The photo is fixed in the window, the front and back parts of the frame are glued together.
  7. A frame stand - a rectangle made of cardboard - is glued to the back of the frame.

Volumetric frame made of cardboard

If you want something even more beautiful, then make a three-dimensional frame from cardboard.
Frame making process

To get started, find a ready-made three-dimensional frame template on the Internet.

  1. Print out a template for your future frame.
  2. Cut it out and transfer it to cardboard.
  3. You need to cut out the cardboard blank using a ruler and a stationery knife.
  4. Using a ruler, make folds in the right places and glue the frame parts with paper glue.

By the way, you can make a second frame exactly the same, glue them together, and you will get a wonderful photo frame-book.
A book frame will decorate both the photograph and the interior

Frame of cardboard boxes for eggs

No matter how unusual it may sound, the beauty is extraordinary. Today, egg boxes are widely used in decorating various interior items.
Flowers from a box

When the regular cardboard photo frame is ready, decorate it with flowers from the boxes. To make them:

  1. Cut out the cells of the box with petals.
  2. Cut out smaller petals and glue them inside the bud, moving them slightly.
  3. Repeat several more times until you get a full-fledged rose.
  4. Paint the roses you made and glue them to the photo frame.

Frame decoration options

We must not forget that an ordinary cardboard frame must also be decorated to make it unrecognizable. There are a great many ways to do this.

  • You can stick something on the frame. These could be beads, buttons, old postcards, coffee beans, lentils, peas or cereals, eggshells, shells or pebbles and much, much more. Limitless space for imagination!
  • The frame can be covered in decoupage style.
  • The frame can be painted, but not just covered with paint, but using modern painting techniques.

Unnecessary things are very suitable for decorating photo frames

Eggshell decor

One of the simplest and cheapest ways to decorate a photo frame is to paste it with eggshells. A real mosaic is made from seemingly unsightly scrap material.

How to decorate a frame with eggshells?

  • We cover a photo frame made of cardboard with acrylic paint, say blue.
  • We paint egg shells (dry and cleared of white film) in different shades of blue.
  • After the shells are dry, break them into smaller pieces.
  • We begin to gradually, in small sections, glue the shells to the cardboard. It is recommended to press them lightly for better adhesion. It's okay if the shell cracks a little.
  • You can paste over the entire frame, or just certain areas, in any case it will be beautiful.

Decorating with cereals

Decorating a frame this way is easy. For decoration you can use millet, buckwheat, semolina.

  • The cereal is glued to the outside of the frame with PVA glue. If the grain is large, each grain is glued separately.
  • After the glue has dried, the cereal must be varnished.
  • Then let it dry again, paint it in the color you choose and apply another coat of varnish.

Video instructions for making a bamboo frame from cardboard

The photo frame is multifunctional, and those who believe that you shouldn’t fuss so much over the design of one photo are wrong. Firstly, a good frame will allow your photos to sparkle with new colors. Secondly, it will decorate the interior, and this corner of your room will undoubtedly attract the attention of guests. Before you start making a frame, think about everything: size, shape, color, material, decorations. But don’t forget that a photo frame is still a secondary thing, only framing the photo, which is where the whole essence lies.

In times of digital technology, the value of paper image media has dropped significantly. But in vain, photography is primarily a memory from the past. People are accustomed to keeping things dear to their hearts close to them. But storing photos in digital media is not always convenient, and the presence of an attractive frame with a favorite image on the table automatically attracts the eye and, accordingly, brings back pleasant memories. You can make a photo frame with your own hands from available materials, using natural materials for decoration.

You can make a photo frame with your own hands using available materials

Knowing how to make photo frames yourself at home is quite useful - sometimes you need a frame of non-standard sizes to hang on the wall, for example, a poster from your favorite computer game, or a large photo, but it can be quite expensive to buy a large frame, and one that matches the photo in color and texture cannot always be found. A homemade frame will come to the rescue if you decide to hang a hand-embroidered picture, or a certificate of honor, or a page of assembled handwritten text on the wall - at weddings and anniversaries, guests often write such congratulations and wishes as a souvenir to the newlyweds or anniversaries. Photos from kindergarten, or from a school function on September 1, a wedding, or just a good photo from a walk - are there many reasons to hang one of those happy moments on the wall or put it on the table? Let's take a step-by-step look at how to make a suitable frame for them.

You will need:

  • 2 sheets of thick paper measuring 30 by 35 cm;
  • Old glossy magazine;
  • PVA glue, a piece of cardboard;
  • Multi-colored threads, colorless nail polish;
  • Stationery knife.

This photo frame will be quite affordable.

How to do:

  1. Stepping back from the edges of the sheet, measure 5 cm. Draw lines along the marked points. Cut the resulting rectangle from the middle of the paper sheet. The result is the base of a photo frame.
  2. Roll one magazine page tightly into a tube and secure the edges with glue.
  3. Wrap thread around the curled page, securing the ends of the threads at the bottom.
  4. Make several of these tubes.
  5. Glue each piece to the base starting from the inner corners of the product. To give the effect of a volumetric bend, bend the tube at the corners.
  6. Glue three sides of the second sheet of paper to the inside of the frame. The fourth side is necessary for placing photographs into the product.
  7. We form the frame leg from a piece of cardboard.

After drying, the craft can be carefully and easily coated with varnish.

How to make a beautiful photo frame from cardboard

Necessary:

  • Colored cardboard, colored paper;
  • Stationery knife;
  • Colored pencils, stickers.

A cardboard photo frame can be very simple

How to do:

  1. Cut out a rectangle of the given parameter with a stationery knife.
  2. Mark the dimensions of the photograph on the wrong side of the figure, deviate 1 cm from the markings, and place measurement points for the window. Cut out the inner rectangle.
  3. We cut out the inner side of the product from less dense paper.
  4. Glue both sides of the frame, leaving one side for inserting a photo.
  5. Draw the desired pattern with pencils and decorate with stickers. The edges of the photo frame can be decorated with golden chocolate wrapper.

We make the frame's stand from cardboard. Cut a thin rectangle, fold it in half, and glue it to the craft with the base.

Original design for a photo frame: master class

A very delicate and beautiful frame is obtained when decorated with artificial flowers, wallpaper, pieces of lace or braid.

Necessary:

  • Wooden or plywood frame - base;
  • Scissors, glue;
  • Pieces of wallpaper, golden braid, lace, beads.

The photo frame can even be decorated with broken branches

How to do:

  1. Artificial lilac branches or other flowers with small fluffy flowers are ideal for crafts. Arrange each flower into inflorescences.
  2. Cover the base with wallpaper and let it dry completely.
  3. Place one inflorescence on a drop of glue from the top corner, bend the petal up a little and glue the second one next to it. Thus, fill the entire upper corner of the frame with flowers.
  4. We decorate the lower opposite edge with lace, gluing it with glue.
  5. We glue golden braid along the edges of the inner frame.
  6. Place the beads on the glue like flower cores. Glue beads of the appropriate tone to the lace ornament.
  7. Glue a piece of starched lace along the top of the flower corner of the craft.

How to decorate a regular photo frame

Photo frame design options:

  1. Worn discs. Since the material contains sharp corners when broken, it is more advisable to wrap the discs in an unnecessary towel. Break it with a hammer. Place small pieces in an interesting mosaic on the frame using glue. After drying, apply black acrylic paint under gloss to the spaces between the fragments.
  2. Wallpaper. Pieces of wallpaper remaining after renovation are very suitable for decorating crafts, especially if they have pictures. Cut out a wallpaper pattern or flower and glue it to the corner of the frame.
  3. Old buttons. Collect all unpaired buttons. Decorate the product with them, gluing them with glue from the outer corners.
  4. Sea pebbles and shells. They look great when paired with starfish decor made from salt dough, rope threads and a figurine of a sea anchor. Such a frame with a joint photo is a wonderful gift for a loved one.
  5. Satin ribbons. When gluing the ribbon as a decorative element, decorate it with the remnants of lace.
  6. Puzzles. Pieces of the picture, laid out randomly around the frame, will be an amazing addition to a child’s photograph. For variety, add toy figures cut out of paper to your decor.
  7. Decorate the frame in the New Year style with Christmas tree tinsel and shards of balls.
  8. Paints. To paint frame parts, it is better to use gouache or acrylic paint.
  9. Pieces of fabric. Here you can come up with both finishing each detail of the frame with a fabric base, and weaving decorative elements from fabric strips.
  10. Quilling and beads. Paper swirls will make the photo frame very interesting. And beads and beads give the decoration a fabulous look.
  11. Colored threads. They harmonize well as decoration when creating frames from magazine pages. Tie each page with thread and glue it to the base of the product.

The photo frame can be decorated however you like

If desired, crafts can be decorated with decorative small flowers, knitting threads, pieces of wool, dry herbarium, colored pasta or seeds.

What can you use to make a photo frame with your own hands?

If you plan to hang a framed photograph on the wall, it is better to use lightweight material for production - ceiling plinth, cardboard, paper.

  1. A very simple frame layout can be made from ceiling plinth. The smooth surface of the material will ensure that you do not make a mistake in size. Use a ruler to carefully measure the required measurements and cut with a utility knife. Further, according to inspiration, the product can be decorated with paints or decorated with natural materials: shells, branches and leaves of a tree. After the glued decor has completely dried, carefully cover the craft with colorless wood varnish.
  2. Wooden frames are more durable in construction. For the craft, take two identical strips in size. Knock down with nails or glue in the form of a rectangle, open with varnish.
  3. A photo frame made of cardboard and yarn is a very easy craft to make. Fold cardboard or thick paper into a rectangle or other geometric shape in several layers. Carefully spreading PVA glue, we sequentially glue the frame with multi-colored yarn and buttons.
  4. A frame from a glossy magazine looks unusual. Roll each page of the magazine into a tube and glue it into a geometric shape.

You can involve your child in creating a frame from dough. An exciting activity will amuse the little fidget, and the product will turn out to be unusual.

  1. Mix flour, non-iodized salt and water. We take salt in half the portion of flour, and half as much water as salt.
  2. After kneading the dough, let it rest, then mold the craft. Keep the finished frame in the oven at 80 degrees until completely dry on both sides.
  3. The ornament for such a product can be molded together with the frame.

After drying, paint the craft with gouache and open it with colorless nail polish.
