What Satisfied Furnace Owners Say

In general, positive reviews boil down to the following:

  • The furnace is operating in normal mode, the calorific value corresponds to the declared indicators.
  • The room warms up quickly enough, provided that it is equipped with standard windows and doors.
  • The slightly open door of a heating stove does not cause smoke to enter the house.
  • The glass of the furnace door is kept clean for a long time, the fire in the furnace is clearly visible.
  • With the correct air supply adjustment mode, firewood burns on its own.
  • The Bavaria fireplace stove with a stove has the function of cooking on an open fire, for this it is enough to remove the cast-iron rings from the burner.
  • The smoldering mode works well in all models, when one bookmark of firewood is enough for 6 hours of burning. This allows, in the absence of a heating shield or heat exchanger, to maintain a comfortable temperature in the room.
  • Suitable for installation in small rooms, because it has a compact size.
  • In the cold season, when the electricity is turned off, the house will not be cold and there will be no problems with hot food.
  • The chimney is designed correctly, works properly.
  • The Bavaria fireplace stove is suitable for summer cottages and country houses, as its design is universal.

Furnace Bavaria

As you can see, if the stove is installed correctly and all fuel requirements are met, homeowners are satisfied with the purchase.

What claims are made by dissatisfied

And now we will voice the claims of those who are not satisfied with the purchase and give the answers of the manufacturer and sellers to these claims:

  • For models made of steel, there is a risk of rapid burnout. This would be so if the furnace furnace was not lined with fireclay bricks and the steel from which it was made would not have a thickness of 0.6 cm.
  • The glass of the furnace door is constantly covered with soot. There are two possible reasons for this: the first is the use of resinous firewood, and the second is that the chimney is not installed correctly.
  • The oven smokes when the door is opened. This problem occurs when there is poor draft in the chimney due to improper installation.
  • Firewood doesn't burn well. This happens when a cold plug forms in the chimney, to solve the problem, use not single-layer, but double-layer sandwich chimneys.
  • The Bavaria fireplace stove requires a large amount of firewood, as they burn out very quickly. If you use standard size firewood, then this problem may occur due to the chimney being too large and too high, it creates too much draft.
  • The firewood in the stove is constantly going out. And here the opposite problem is - the chimney is too short, or there is no fresh air in the room.
  • The declared smoldering mode is not fulfilled, it is only 2-3 hours. Here the problem lies most likely in the firewood, they must be dry and not resinous.
  • The chimney is often clogged. First you need to see how many horizontal sections you have in the chimney, the fewer there are, the better the draft is. The walls of the chimney must be double, then they will not cool quickly, and soot will not settle on them.

Bavaria with additional heat accumulator

As you can see, all the main claims stem from improper installation of the stove, chimney and the use of unsuitable fuel.

What they say about the Prismatic model

In the first two sections, we have given positive and negative feedback about Bavaria stoves, regardless of the model. Therefore, it seemed useful to us to publish a review that was posted on one of the construction forums by a real person. The post is dated late winter 2013.

The Bavaria Prismatic fireplace stove was purchased in 2012 for heating a frame house with dimensions of 6x9 meters. Rockwool, 15 cm thick, was used to insulate the house. Together with the stove, a brick heating shield made of three-channel bricks was installed. The house is a country house, in winter it is used only on weekends. In order to warm it up, the owner heats the stove for 4-5 hours. At first, the stove heats only the living room where it is installed, the owner keeps the doors to two bedrooms closed. After the temperature in the living room reaches 18 degrees, opens the doors to the bedrooms. At the end of the third hour, when the heating shield heats up, the last batch of firewood is thrown up. They burn out by the end of the fourth hour, after which a direct exit to the chimney opens, the so-called summer passage, so that the smoke leaves the channels. The summer course closes in 15 minutes. The temperature in the house by the time the furnace is closed is 25 degrees. The heating shield stays warm for 10 hours. Despite the fact that it is cast iron, the Bavaria stove cools down much faster. The next day, it is enough to heat the stove for 2-3 hours so that the temperature in the house returns to 25 degrees.

Model Bavaria Prismatic

New from Ecofireplace

Not so long ago, a new Bavaria model was launched on the market - 3 glasses. In its appearance, it comes closest to traditional fireplaces. Manufacturers claim that the efficiency of this model is 78%. The front and side walls of the oven are made of translucent ceramic glass. The furnace furnace is steel, lined with fireclay plates, the steel is thick - 6 mm thick. Chamotte plates are a consumable material, they need to be changed every 7-10 years. The new oven has three useful options:

  • Burning one bookmark of firewood in smoldering mode for 5 hours
  • The "Clean glass" function, which prevents the deposition of soot on the side and front windows.
  • The option of afterburning flue gases, which allows you to supply air to the upper section of the chamber, due to which the flue gases burn out completely, which actually increases the efficiency of the furnace.
The manufacturer claims in the technical specifications that such a stove is capable of heating a house of 120 square meters. You can heat it with firewood, special wood briquettes or brown coal.

Stove Bavaria with three glasses

It should be noted that all models of Bavaria stoves are equipped with glass doors so that the owners of the house can admire the fire. Of course, a three-glass stove is the most interesting option, but if you like stoves with a more traditional design, then pay attention to the Bavaria Vertical fireplace stove, in which the furnace door is located vertically and the glass is larger than the standard size.

What are the advantages of ovens with a heat exchanger?

It is possible to increase the warm-up time of the room due to the thick walls of the furnace, the presence of an additional heating shield, as well as a water circuit that will heat radiators in other rooms of the house. The heat exchanger is a system of pipes and an open expansion tank with a capacity of 4 liters.

Cold water is supplied to the pipes of the heat exchanger from a water pipe or using a pump. Passing near the firebox, the water is heated and supplied to the expansion tank, from which it flows through pipes to the radiators located in different parts of the house.

The heat exchanger can operate both in forced circulation mode and by gravity. In the first case, the system must have a water pump, the second option involves the installation of pipes at a slight slope. For the convenience of monitoring it, the system is equipped with a pressure gauge and a thermometer.

The Bavaria fireplace stove with a heat exchanger is able to heat a house up to 180 cubic meters. meters. The manufacturer provides for the possibility of installing a heat exchanger not only in heating furnaces, but also in those equipped with stoves.

Special model for small houses

For country houses that cannot boast of their size, the Ecofireplace company has developed a stove model that is installed in the corner of the room. It's called: Bavaria corner stove-fireplace. The chimney in such a furnace is not mounted at the back, but at the top. Also, like all other models, its furnace door is equipped with heat-resistant glass. The firebox is designed for firewood no longer than 50 cm. On both sides of the combustion chamber there are decorative panels made of ceramics imitating marble tiles. The material for the furnace is thick steel, which is protected by fireclay panels in the area of the combustion chamber. The contour of the firebox is made of 6 mm steel, and the furnace body itself is made of 3 mm steel. The grates of the combustion chamber are made of cast iron. This modification can also work with a water heat exchange circuit or with a heating shield.

Bavaria for installation in a corner

According to the reviews of the owners, the corner stove must be installed with a gate, since it regulates the draft, otherwise all the heat flies out into the pipe. There are a couple of subtleties that no one immediately pays attention to:
  • During the initial heating, the paint begins to burn, and the smell spreads throughout the house. To avoid this, one of the owners heated the stove for the first time right on the street, and then installed it in the house.
  • The manufacturer puts a sticker on the firebox glass, which must be removed before the first firebox, otherwise traces of glue eat into the glass and it becomes almost impossible to wipe them off.
For lovers of beautiful ovens

Not everyone likes the laconic design that distinguishes most models of Bavaria stoves, so the designers have developed a very beautiful Bavaria Tiled stove. It has two modifications: Baroque and Arch. The side panels of such a stove are made of ceramic tiles, which serve as additional heat accumulators. Models are available with a ceramic top panel to match the color of the side walls and with a regular panel. The stove is designed for heating rooms with an area of 110 square meters. meters. The chimney is connected from above. The tiles are made in a variety of pastel colors: beige, sand, green, brown. The Baroque stove has a double combustion chamber, while the Arka stove does not. In addition, the Arch is of lower power - 9 kW, against 11 kW for the Baroque. Both modifications are not designed to connect a water circuit; in order to increase the time of keeping heat in the house, it is recommended to connect a heating shield to them, which can also be decorated with tiles.

It should be noted that Ecofireplace follows the trends in the market and constantly tries to offer consumers something new, while the old models that continue to be produced are of good quality. For example, the Bavaria Optima fireplace stove, which served as the basic model for all other stoves, is in stable demand and is still present in the company's product line.

You can learn about the various models of fireplace stoves from the video:

The possibility of solving the actual problem of heating a country dwelling by installing an elegant heating installation, which is the stove-fireplace of the famous Bavaria brand, attracts many homeowners. A fairly extensive range of stoves under this brand is presented on the market, which contributes to the competent selection of a specific type. Its angular variety is especially popular.

purpose

The stove-fireplace is intended mainly for heating housing. There are varieties with a hob and even an oven, allowing you to perform additional cooking functions.

In order to ensure safe operation, it is not recommended to install such fireplaces in garages and workshops where flammable substances are stored - varnishes, paints, fuels and lubricants.

Specifications and types

The Bavaria fireplace stove acquires strength and durability thanks to the three-millimeter steel from which the body is made and the six-millimeter steel used on the combustion chamber.

Grid grates are made of heat-resistant cast iron. To further ensure the durability of the furnace, the internal planes of the furnace are reinforced with a protective finish of refractory fireclay tiles.

There are several types of Bavaria fireplaces with an angular orientation.

  • Wall - corner "Bavaria", equipped with a water heat exchanger, with a power of 12 kW, is focused on a volume of up to 150 cubic meters. meters. The width of this fireplace stove is 540 mm. A slightly elongated shape is given by a depth of 710 mm with a height of 945 mm. This model can be connected to a common heating system.
  • The stove, equipped with a stove with a power of 9 kW, will fill the space with heat up to 180 cubic meters. meters. Its compact dimensions (width, which is only 650 mm with a shallow depth of 520 mm and a height of 860 mm) will fit harmoniously into any modern interior.
  • "Bavaria" corner tile is an improved modification of a stove-fireplace with a cast-iron stove with two burners. A distinctive feature is the facing with tiles of the side planes. The compact width of 650 mm, combined with a shallow depth of 520 mm and a comfortable height of 860 mm, allows this 125 kg oven to be installed in rooms up to 90 cubic meters. meters.

Installation

When installing a fireplace stove, it is necessary to follow all the instructions provided by the manufacturer in the technical documentation.

The floor at the installation site of the stove must not have any height differences. It is leveled if necessary. A protective layer of refractory material is provided.

Additionally, a steel sheet with a thickness of ≥ 0.5 mm is attached to the area under the door. In order for the ash drawer to be easily placed on it when it is pulled out for cleaning, the dimensions should be approximately 70x50 cm.

The minimum height of the chimney is five meters. The diameter of its diameter is selected according to the size of the fireplace pipe. All combustible wall structures must be protected by a fireproof screen.

Operating rules

In order for the Bavaria fireplace to please with flawless work for a long time, it is necessary to use dried firewood. Harvested logs are stacked under a canopy or in a ventilated barn, where after a year and a half they reach the desired degree of dryness. Humidity around 15% is considered normal.

It should be borne in mind that if logs that do not dry out are put into the furnace of the stove, then when they burn, an excessive amount of smoke with a high content of condensate is formed, which settles on the inner planes of the pipes of the fireplace stove, clogging them with combustion products.

Resinous softwood logs also become a source of excessive clogging of chimneys and the appearance of soot on the glass of the oven door. Coal is not recommended as a fuel. The ash drawer can only be removed for cleaning after it has cooled down.

Preparation for work

When preparing the fireplace stove for the first fire, you should clean the glass by removing any stickers from it. Firewood is put half the norm. The smell is usually felt when the inner protective layer of the oven is heated. You need to open the hatch. This smell will no longer be there. During installation, care must be taken to touch the facade planes, since the protective paint acquires its unique strength under the influence of high temperatures.

In order for the glass to retain its transparency, good traction is required, which is set by changing the position of the regulators. Intensive combustion is maintained until the desired ambient temperature is reached. After that, an economical mode is set, allowing the logs to slowly burn out for several hours, maintaining a steady heat balance in the room.

Security measures

Understanding that the stove-fireplace functions from an open flame, during its operation it is necessary to strictly observe safety rules.

It is not necessary to exceed the norms for laying firewood established by the manufacturer, so as not to exceed the permissible periods and combustion temperatures and not cause negative effects on the integrity of the fireplace. It is forbidden to use flammable substances when igniting.

If there are children in the house, it is advisable to protect the corner fireplace with a light grate to prevent touching the door and body of the stove. If you wish to equip a cozy fireplace corner of the chair and other objects that can ignite, they are placed no closer than one and a half meters from the fireplace facade.

Video: Installation of the Bavaria fireplace stove

Many owners of private houses choose fireplaces as an additional source of heat and a decorative element. Whatever type you choose, a fireplace stove must be heated with the type of fuel to which it is adapted.

There are a huge number of fireplaces that use wood, coal, peat, gas and even electricity as fuel.

In our country, wood-burning fireplaces are most widely used. This is due to the availability of this type of fuel and the traditions of our people.

What do our compatriots heat their fireplaces with? Preference should be given to dry hardwood. Firewood with a high moisture content during combustion emits a lot of smoke and tar, and contributes to the appearance of condensate. It is quite easy to distinguish dry firewood from damp firewood. Well-dried logs tend to have a clear sound, they are darker in color and have cracks on the ends. Recently cut firewood cannot be called dry, its moisture content exceeds 50%. They will become dry only after they lie for a whole year outdoors or indoors. In the first case, there is a decrease in humidity up to 25%, and in the second - up to 15%. Firewood is recommended to be stored in a woodpile. To increase the speed of their drying, each next row should be laid perpendicular to the previous one.

Alternatively, a special firewood can be made in the fireplace body. Firewood will be stored in this special niche. This option requires solving the problem of the safe location of the firewood. As a rule, it is made under the firebox, below, isolating from the firebox. In this case, the main thing is to avoid a fire. If you are not sure that fire safety precautions are fully observed, it is better to abandon this method and make a storage for firewood away from the fire.

What kind of wood is better to heat the fireplace

Firewood is recommended to be stored in a split form. It is desirable that all logs are almost the same length. The thickness of the logs is considered optimal if it is 6-10 centimeters, and their length should be 3/4 of the width of the firebox. It is not advisable to use firewood whose length is more than 30-40 centimeters.

The greatest heat transfer has wood of hard hardwood: yew, hawthorn, pear, apple, birch, beech, oak. Beech, oak, and yew are difficult to split and quite difficult to melt, but the rest of the wood splits easily and burns well. Hardwood wood burns more slowly.

The average calorific value is typical for wood of medium hardness of fir, cedar, elm, cherry. Firewood from elm, fir and cherry strongly smokes. Soft hardwood contains a lot of resin. The heat transfer of these tree varieties is minimal. In addition, in the process of burning such logs, a lot of soot is formed, it tends to settle on the inner walls of the fireplace stove. Pine and spruce wood is easily pricked, burns well, but often sparks. A pleasant aroma emanates from the burning wood.

Birch firewood is very popular. They are easy to split, they have a minimum amount of resin and they burn perfectly. This fuel is available to most of the inhabitants of our country.

Dry branches of a cherry tree, pear, juniper, apple tree are often used to fire a fireplace stove. When burned, they exude a pleasant aroma.

Here we have given the most preferred types of wood, but each owner for himself and his loved ones can decide which firewood is better to use for a fireplace, choosing the best option.

How to properly heat a fireplace

It will not be difficult to melt the fireplace if you first familiarize yourself with the rules for operating the heater. If the device has not been used for a long time, then the cold air that has stagnated in the chimney can significantly complicate kindling. It will, as it were, create an obstacle to the upward flow of hot gases. Before starting kindling, it is necessary to warm up the air that is inside the pipe. For a proper fireplace insert, you first need to light a newspaper and, putting your hand into the furnace, bring it to the chimney inlet. In this case, after a short period of time, traction should form. Only then can the fireplace be considered ready for use. The firebox can be started.

Very often, improvised means are used to kindle a fireplace: shavings, chips, unnecessary newspapers. If coal or lignite is used as fuel for the fireplace, then special products can be used for kindling. Under no circumstances should flammable liquids (kerosene, gasoline, etc.) be used to kindle the fireplace. If you learn today how to heat a fireplace stove, then this science will be remembered for a lifetime and can come in handy at any time.

It is quite simple to kindle a fireplace, for which firewood serves as fuel. It is necessary to lay out a uniform layer of chips on the grate, then old newspapers. A row of quarters of firewood is laid out on top. Kindling material is set on fire and, as soon as the fire flares up, halves of firewood are added.

The correct firing of a fireplace stove involves horizontal stacking of firewood, with gaps between them of about 10 millimeters. The layer of firewood should not exceed 30 centimeters. The draft in the fireplace is regulated by means of a blower door and dampers.

Fireplace with coal

Before laying coal in the stove, it is necessary to kindle the fireplace with wood chips or newsprint. A small layer of small firewood is laid, then a 5 cm layer of coal. Kindling is ignited from below. As soon as the fire breaks out, large pieces of coal should be added and the draft in the fireplace stove should be adjusted using the damper.

It is better to heat the fireplace with coal, using special chemical tablets for kindling. They are placed directly in the coal bed. If a gas igniter is used, then it must be added to the coal and not removed until the end of the furnace. To kindle coal with an electric fire starter, it is installed next to the fireplace, pointing at a layer of coal. As soon as the fuel flares up, the device is turned off.

Fireplace insert with old newsprint

The better to heat the fireplace, each user decides for himself. To light the stove, you can use old newspapers. Newspapers 10-15 centimeters thick are placed on smoldering coals. The air draft is artificially increased. The calorific value of newspapers for four to six hours is 1-3 kW. It is necessary that the combustion process be slow and take place in the center of a stack of newspapers.

Gas fireplace insert

How to properly heat a fireplace, a gas stove, we will consider further. Today, fireplaces of both domestic and foreign production, operating on gas fuel, go on sale. This type of fireplace has a built-in burner and a nickel-plated reflector that provides efficient radiation. For efficient operation of the fireplace for 85 hours, one cylinder of liquefied gas is enough. In all models, automatic shutdown occurs when the gas is extinguished. As a decor, some models have "burning" ceramic firewood. Excellent props can create the feeling of a real blazing fire. For more information on the rules for firing a fireplace, a gas stove can be found by reading the instructions that came with the product.

Fireplace stove "Bavaria"

What are the main advantages should have a fireplace to give? Of course, it must be effective, affordable, aesthetic and convenient. The Bavaria fireplace stove is a typical example of such a combination. Despite its small size, it has a fairly high power - 9 kW, and is able to heat an area up to 90 square meters. m, if the ceiling height is not more than 2.5 m.

If you heat the Bavaria fireplace stove, observing all operating conditions, then the unit can last up to 10 years.

Up to 80% of the heat generated by firewood is used to heat the room. The high efficiency factor is ensured by the rational design of the furnace. The room warms up in less than two hours.

How to heat a Bavaria fireplace stove? For the firebox, firewood with a moisture content of no more than 10-15% should be used. It is strictly forbidden to heat the stove with chips, cardboard, coal. Only paper can be used to light logs. Thanks to the system of long burning, the stove works up to 5 hours on one tab of firewood.

The fireplace stove will be an excellent source of heat and, at the same time, a decorative element that will decorate any home, create a cozy atmosphere in both damp autumn and frosty winter.

There are many options for heating a home. But along with them, consumers often additionally install alternative heat sources, namely wood-burning stoves. In addition, they are a wonderful decoration for the interior of any private house.

Bavaria stove fireplaces are made in two variations: Arch and Baroque.

The Baroque type oven is equipped with a double heating compartment and has a power of 11 kW. The Arch type furnace is not equipped with it and has a power of 9 kW.

"Tile" does not have the ability to connect to the water circuit, so the area heated by it at home is relatively small: 90-110 square meters. m.

Due to the high heat capacity of ceramics, from which the decorative elements of such a stove are made, the efficiency of the fireplace stove reaches 80%.

The body and firebox of the stove are similar to previous models. The doors of this type of stove are made of heat-resistant ceramic glass to view the combustion process. A chimney is placed at the top of the stove.

Corner fireplace stove

For small rooms, where every square meter is expensive, a small model has been specially designed, which is placed in the corner and does not take up much space. This is a corner version of the Bavaria stove.

Due to the angular location of such a stove, the chimney is placed on top of it. On the sides of the stove there are decorative ceramic plates imitating marble finishes.

The door is made of heat-resistant glass. Firewood up to 50 cm long can be loaded into such a stove.

Corner stove-fireplace Bavaria

The corner stove can be connected to a water circuit or to a heat storage shield, which significantly increases the area of \u200b\u200bthe heated room.

According to the suggestions of experts, a corner stove-fireplace must be installed with a gate valve, which will help regulate draft and heat loss through the chimney.

In addition, the Bavaria cast-iron stove is also manufactured.

A country house or cottage is unthinkable without a stove. Electric heating systems are certainly convenient, but in cases of emergency power outages, their operation is simply impossible. Such systems should be backed up with stand-alone alternative sources of heat and cooking.

Modern wood stoves in such conditions have undoubted advantages:

  • they quickly warm up the room;
  • they can only be used when necessary;
  • ovens are compact and easy to install;
  • they have an excellent design and fit perfectly into any interior;
  • some models can also be used for cooking.
