The phone does not connect to the internet. Android (smartphone, tablet) connects to Wi-Fi, but the Internet does not work

A phone or tablet ceases to be so useful and interesting if you no internet access, social networks, latest news and the opportunity to get an answer to any question. If you still have a problem with accessing the Internet on Android device(tablet or phone), you can always find out the cause and eliminate it.

The very first action that must be taken if it is impossible to use global networkcheck balance, often the operator limits access to the Internet with a zero or minimal negative balance, even if there is free Internet traffic. If the balance is positive, but there is no access, we check the device further.

Most phones provide having two sim cards, in the phone settings there is an item "SIM card manager", there you need to select which of the cards will be responsible for accessing the Internet (a situation may arise when it is set in the phone that SIM card number two is responsible for accessing the Internet, and its not there at all).

If the balance is positive, the desired SIM is selected, but there is no access, check if it is enabled data transfer, for this we lower the top curtain on the working screen of the device and turn on mobile data, if the miracle did not happen, then the phone does not have settings.

The easiest way to get automatic settings is to call your mobile operator. There you can also clarify whether you have all the necessary services for accessing the Internet (data transfer service) in your room. The operator number is most often indicated on the SIM card itself or in the service agreement.

There is another simple way to get automatic settings - remove the SIM card from the phone and install it again, operator cellular communication reacts to the new registration of the SIM on the network and sends the settings in the form of SMS messages on its own. Settings are enough install and reboot device. It happens that the device does not support automatic settings (for example, the device is not certified).

If for some reason the automatic settings did not come to you or did not suit you, you must register manual settings.

Manual Internet setup

Open the phone menu and look for "Settings"

Select from the menu " Wireless network" (or "More ...", or "Advanced") → "Mobile network" (or "Mobile networks", or other similar name) → "Access point" (or "Access points", or "APN").

Press the soft key (touch key) with the image of a square (or the + icon in the upper right corner of the screen), select "Create" or "New access point"

We register the operator settings (access point name, APN, password, username). Manual Tuning Video mobile internet for the main operators of Russia, Ukraine, Kazakhstan, Belarus can be found by Settings are written in Latin. Each operator has its own settings, which can be found on the official website.

Press the soft key (touch key) with the image of a square (three dots in the upper right corner of the screen can also perform this function), select "Save".

Mark the access point with a checkmark.

We reboot the device. An internet icon should appear at the top of the screen.

The settings for tablets and phones are identical.

If you correctly followed all the instructions, then most likely you already use this blessing of civilization and are aware of the latest events. If, nevertheless, difficulties arose and you are unable to cope with them on your own, contact a communication salon or an Internet provider, they will certainly help you.

Hello, dear readers and guests of our portal.

Have you ever wondered why the Internet does not work on your phone?

But there are quite a lot of reasons for this phenomenon. The main problems are usually associated with a poor signal of your network, equipment malfunctions, missing or incorrect settings. We deal with the question why the Internet does not work

There are many reasons and universal way their solution does not exist. Indeed, in order to eliminate the reason for the lack of Internet on the phone with one hundred percent probability, you must first find out this reason.
In this article, we will consider all the most common reasons for the lack of communication on the phone, why the Internet disappears, and how to set it up in one case or another.

Our instructions will be relevant for almost any telecom operator (Yota, MTS, Megafon, Beeline) and the device you use.

Why there is no Internet and how to restore it on the phone

IN modern world wireless communication and high speeds, a person can hardly do without the Internet. And if suddenly, for some reason, the phone does not want to connect to the Internet, or the pages are loaded quite slowly when surfing the Internet, this causes irritation. Let's not give in to excessive emotionality and panic. We will show you how to fix the most common problems associated with the lack of Internet.
Reasons for the lack of Internet on the phone

For every reason we wrote detailed instructions, following which the problem will go away as quickly as possible.
So, the Internet may be absent for these reasons:

  • Your device has not been automatically registered in the operator's network;
  • The phone settings have gone wrong;
  • Data transfer is disabled on your device;
  • The subscriber is outside the network coverage area (this is typical for areas with a poor signal);
  • On the part of the operator, technical work is being carried out;
  • As part of your tariff plan, the allocated Internet traffic has ended;
  • The phone is out of order;
  • The balance of the device has run out of funds.

And it's not complete list, but only the most common reasons for the lack of Internet on the phone.

ATTENTION: remember that in order to eliminate failures in the absence of the Internet, you must first find out the reason for this, and we recommend that you read our article to the end for a clearer understanding.

There is, of course, such an exception to the rule when work is carried out on the operator's side, and in this case you will not be able to eliminate the cause of the lack of communication yourself.

If the Internet is disabled by the operator

If suddenly the Internet on your phone stops working for you, do not rush to immediately rush to change the settings. No matter how trite it sounds, but the most common reason for the absence of the Internet is the initiative of the mobile operator. Quite possible. That you simply ran out of traffic, or Internet access is disabled until the end of the billing period.

How to fix this problem

And to check it - we will not explain. This is described earlier in other articles and any subscriber should know how to check the account balance and the amount of available traffic. Also, special USSD commands and personal accounts are available for subscribers of any operator.
You can request information about how much Internet traffic you have left at any time using special commands:

  • Operator TELE2: you need to enter USSD command *155#
  • For Megafon this command will look like this: *158#
  • <Beeline offers to use the voice menu and for this you need to call 06745
  • The rest of the traffic MTS are displayed by USSD command: *111 *217#

In the event that when using the data command you receive a message that the traffic has been used up, we recommend that you purchase additional gigabytes of Internet, or switch to another tariff with a large amount of traffic. You can find more information about tariff plans on our website.

If there are no Internet settings on the phone

Another of the most common reasons why there is no Internet on your phone is that you are missing settings.
Universal Internet settings on the phone for the most popular operators

In the event that, for example, you worked on the Internet, and after turning off and restarting the device, the Internet disappeared, then the most likely reason is that your settings just went wrong.

check the settings on your device, whether they correspond to those recommended by the operator.
In case you don't know how to set up your phone, then you need to contact the help center, or use the USSD command to get automatic settings for your phone from the mobile operator.
Commands for getting internet settings:
If you are a YOTA subscriber, then you can get the settings for your phone using your personal Yota account

  • Beeline subscribers you need to use the voice menu by calling 06503
  • Tele 2 also offers to order settings by dialing 679
  • MTS- receipt is carried out after sending SMS to number 1234
  • Megaphone- also SMS to number 5049 only with text 1

ATTENTION: if you are a subscriber of another mobile operator, whose services are not so common in Russia, we recommend that you contact the help center for help. Upon request, you will have to send the Internet settings to the number.

In the event that even you still do not have the field for obtaining Internet settings, then read on.

By the way, if you are interested in tariffs with favorable Internet tariffs, you should pay attention to from MTS.

Other reasons for the lack of Internet on the phone

If all of the above did not help, let's look at other reasons for the lack of Internet:

  1. If you suddenly do not have the Internet due to problems with your device, remember that there is nothing eternal in this world. Your phone could just be out of order.
  2. If you do not have the skills to repair cellular and other mobile devices, then in this case we recommend that you shave in a service center, where they will definitely help you.
  3. Also data transfer may be disabled on the device. In order to fix this cause, you need to check if you have enabled a special feature that makes data transfer possible.

In different phone models, this function may differ, which is why it is impossible to consider all possible options within the framework of this article. See the instructions for your device.

On most devices that run on the Android OS, the connection of the data transfer function is carried out by using the menu function.

The menu can be accessed by swiping down from the top of the phone screen.

  • Internet access as well may be absent if your operator is carrying out technical work at the moment. There may also be no Internet if the network is overloaded. In this case, you should make a call to the hotline of your mobile operator and clarify the moment.
  • You ran out of money on your balance. This is another fairly common reason for the lack of Internet. Most likely you did not have the required amount for the monthly payment of your package. Or the money was debited due to the connection of a paid subscription. To solve this problem, we recommend that you replenish your account and keep track of your phone balance in the future.
  • Also pay attention to the signal strength in the coverage area of your operator and your location. It is possible that there is simply no signal, in connection with which there may be no Internet connection. In this case, you just need to move to a place where the coverage signal is strong and stable.

Now you can deal with most of the reasons for the lack of Internet and the question of why there is no Internet on your phone will visit you as rarely as possible. We will also be very grateful if you add our instructions to your bookmarks, so that if you have the opportunity to return to it as quickly as possible and share it with your friends on social networks.

I don’t know what kind of Internet does not work for you: mobile, 3g, Yota, MTS, Beeline, Tele2, Megafon, Kyivstar, Life or some other.

Also, I can’t determine what version of Android you have: 7.0, 6.0, 5.1, 5.0, just like on which device the Internet stopped working - on the phone, on the Samsung Galaxy a3 smartphone, asus, lenovo, sony xperia, zte, lg or on samsung tablet, oysters or irbis and so on.

I only know that you now have grief and joy - grief does not work the Internet in your android and joy - you still have access to the network to find solutions on what to do to fix the connection.

There are many reasons why, when the Internet is paid for, it does not work or works poorly, or rather slowly among users of smartphones, phones and tablets with Android OS.

Of course, I will focus only on the basic lack of Internet connection in the phone via a SIM card (SIM card) and Wi-Fi (wifi) with the android system.

The fact that the quality of coverage has a great impact on the speed and performance of the Internet, I think it is clear to everyone.

NOTE: if the Internet was and disappeared, then I recommend that you first reset the network settings. How - (this is not a hard reset and all your files will remain intact)

The most common reasons why the Internet stopped working on Android

The most common causes, at the same time, are the simplest, but in order to fix them, basic knowledge of the settings of a phone, smartphone or tablet will still be required. Here are 6 main reasons:

  • The first is that if mobile Internet or 3G does not work, you can simply be out of coverage. What to do? Go to a place where the network will be available.
  • The second is a zero or even negative balance in your account. What to do? Refill SIM card.
  • Third - the "Data transfer" service is not connected. What to do? Contact the operator to connect.
  • Fourth - the access point is incorrectly configured. What to do? The access point setting varies by provider. Contact him for setup data.
  • Fifth - mobile Internet is disabled. What to do? Open "Settings" and select "Wireless networks", "More", or "Advanced" (depending on the version of android). Then "Mobile network" or "Mobile networks". In this section, check the box next to "Data transfer is enabled."
  • Sixth - the android did not automatically register on the network. What to do? Restart your device manually

Does not work on android mobile internet or 3G through a bad APN

Let's start with the most common problem - APNs. For the Internet to work, the APN must be correctly configured in the phone.

For different operators (Yota, Mts, Beeline, Tele2, Megafon, Kyivstar, Life), these parameters are completely different.

The easiest way is to ask an ISP employee to set up an APN, but not everyone is ready to do this.

I don't know if this is mandatory, but it would be good for the worker to help the client.

Moreover, this is not a complex operation. However, if you are far away from the operator, you can call him or look at the settings on his website.

After updating in a smartphone or tablet, the android Internet stopped working - how to fix it

The very first thing you should always do if the Internet in your smartphone, tablet or Android phone is lost or stopped working is to turn it off and remove the battery for a few minutes.

The method seems naive - you can believe me or not, but several times it fixed my mobile Internet.

A more effective and at the same time not very desirable option is a factory reset. It is better to use it when nothing else helps. Who does not know.

The next reason why the Internet may not work is a virus that blocks your access to the network, or you yourself installed some malware.

In this case, a reset will also help. Just before that, be sure to check the SIM card in another phone.

You should also remember that the mobile Internet may not work if the smartphone fell to the floor or was hit against the wall - the times of the unbreakable Nokia 3310 have already passed and modern phones should be treated gently and respectfully.

Wifi not working on android

It happens that the phone cannot connect to a Wi-Fi network or it connects to Wi-Fi, but the Internet does not work. If you only have one network, this may be related to your router settings.

In the case of a home network, check the encryption settings in the router (if your smartphone does not detect the network, you can temporarily disable encryption).

Changing the 802.11 router settings might also help, configure the router from "a" to "b/g".

Unfortunately, not all routers interact correctly with specific phone models.

If your smartphone is not connected to any network, you can delete all saved WiFi networks. Click on the network and hold until the menu appears.

In general, the Internet on your smartphone should work with any modern router (which is currently on the market for sale).

To be honest, the last time I had a problem with the D-Link 524 router, but it is no longer produced.

It didn't work with any android device, at least not with stock settings.

Then the decision to create an open Wi-Fi network and setting up MAC address filtering helped me.

At the moment I'm using a "FRITZ 7490" router, which works great with any android device.

I dare say that the correct configuration of the router will allow an unhindered connection to the Internet.

Cases in which it is not compatible with smartphones or tablets are already rare and are often caused by a lack of knowledge about these devices.

Internet not working on android - airplane mode is on

Most Android users, especially beginners, do not understand that one simple action can turn off the Internet on your smartphone.

Therefore, make sure that the settings allow data transfer. Make sure you don't accidentally turn on Airplane Mode.

This mode is most often found on a wireless network and should always be disabled, unless of course you are really on an airplane, although now it seems that the Internet has already been allowed or is thinking of being allowed on airplanes.

The Internet on the phone is still not working - how to fix it

There is another way that can be taken into account if nothing else fixes the network.

It involves removing the battery from the phone while it is on. Then, when the battery is pulled out, hold the power (off) button for 30 seconds and release.

Insert the battery and turn on the phone. If this does not work, then there is nothing left but to reset the smartphone to factory settings.

That's probably all. Of course, the reasons are far from all, but in order not to waste your time, at the beginning of the recording I mentioned that I would only touch on the basic reasons.

To whom it was not possible to fix your Internet, write in the comments - we will solve the problem together. Good luck.

We all use the Internet while in cafes or restaurants, with friends, even at home at the dinner table, checking mail or messages in the same Vkontakte. As practice shows, one of the most common problems occurs when working with Wi-Fi wireless technology. Let's say we have an access point located in the house from the router or in a public institution. Everything seems to be configured correctly, but for some reason there is no access to the network.

So, what to do if you encounter such a problem? In fact, there may be a dozen reasons, each of which we will consider in this article!

Wi-Fi on Android is on, the status is "Connected", but there is no Internet access

Let's say that you have activated Wi-Fi on your smartphone and connected to an access point. Your phone displays the “Connected” status, but you cannot access the Internet, both using a browser and through other programs, for example, Odnoklassniki. What should we do in this case?

First you need to check if the Internet works for this connection at all. That is, you need to gradually eliminate the list of possible causes by elimination, and checking the Internet is the very first of them.

Try connecting to this hotspot from another device and go online. If everything is fine, then the reason is in your smartphone. If another device does not connect to the Internet or does not open sites, then the point is already in the access point or router itself.

Solution 1 – Proper Wi-Fi Router Configuration

First, check if your smartphone is within range of a wireless network. Typically, routers can distribute a signal up to 200 meters, provided that there are no obstacles in this radius. If everything is in order with this, then go to the settings of the router.

Change the channel your access point is on. Usually it is set to Auto, but we advise you to set the 6th or another channel. Choose any of the available ones, save the changes and check the performance.

You can also change the mode of operation for Wi-Fi. As practice shows, by default, the 11bg mixed mode is usually set everywhere. Change it to 11n only.

If you have a column in the settings for specifying the region, then be sure to set your region there. This is a minor parameter, but in very rare cases, even it can affect the correct operation of the access point.

Solution 2 – Setting up a proxy server

Another possible problem is the automatic selection and setting of a proxy server for a specific access point on a wireless network.

To fix it:

  1. Go to "Settings" on your device
  2. Next, select Wi-Fi or "Wireless networks", depending on the version of Android
  3. Find the access point you are connected to and hold your finger on it for a few seconds. An additional menu will appear in which you need to click the item "Change network"
  4. Check the box next to "Advanced options" and select "Proxy settings"
  5. It remains only to check the box next to "No", after which the proxy server will be deactivated

Wi-Fi enabled on Android but Google Play and other apps not working

If Wi-Fi is activated on your smartphone and it is connected to a specific access point, but the phone does not open sites, does not load pages and applications on Google Play, check that the time and date settings are correct. This is a very common user error! In 90% of cases, it is she who causes connection problems.

You just need to set the time and date correctly, reconnect the Internet, and then try to log in to Google Play and view one of the applications on the page.

Why Wi-Fi does not work on Android: other reasons

  1. Incorrect password. Sometimes the Android operating system saves the password from a certain access point, but when you connect to it later, there are no notifications that the password is not correct. We advise you to check the correctness of the input and change it if necessary. As you understand, in public places there are usually open access points, but there are also closed ones. To guess the password to them, you can use special programs, for example, from the same Google Play, where users share information around the world.
  2. Software problems. Another common reason that is related to your system software. To check the correct operation, you can use the Wi-Fi Fixer application. Just install it on your device and run it. There you will also be able to view a complete list of networks for which the data you have connected to has been saved. Reboot your phone and try connecting to the hotspot again.
  3. Malicious applications. It is possible that viruses or Trojans have appeared on your phone that block the operation of wireless networks. In this case, you will have to manually install an antivirus, for example, Kaspersky.
  4. Incorrect settings. We have already talked about the settings of Wi-Fi networks. If you can’t change them, then you can simply reset to factory settings. You may also have old access point entries. For example, you connected to it, as it says in the system, although in fact the connection was not made. Just update the list of networks in the settings or delete everything and try to update again, and only after that connect to a specific Wi-Fi point.

But what to do if Wi-Fi is connected, but the Internet still does not work even after all the recommendations described? Most likely, your Wi-Fi module itself is not working correctly. The following will help here:

  1. Phone firmware if the reason lies in the software part of the smartphone. If you do not know how to flash Android operating systems yourself, it would be better to contact a service center.
  2. Repairing the Wi-Fi module. If the phone firmware does not help, then the problem lies in the wireless network module itself. In this case, you will have to take your smartphone to a service center and replace parts.

This is not a complete list of reasons that cause Wi-Fi failures. If you have experienced similar situations, and you solved them in some other way, be sure to tell us about it in the comments for our readers!

Hello! I decided to take this problem into a separate article in order to try to deal with these incomprehensible problems with Wi-Fi in Android OS together.

Moreover, one device (e.g. smartphone) which runs on the Android operating system can access the Internet, and the other (eg tablet), also connects to Android, but does not go online.

I saw this problem many times in the comments, they describe it like this:

Or like this:

I think that the problem is more than clear, you can move on to solving it. Which, unfortunately, is not as clear as the problem itself 🙂 .

We solve the problem with Wi-Fi on Android

Well, or at least try to solve 🙂 .

When I answered questions that I was asked in the comments to other articles (mainly to the article on), then basically advised experiment with the mode of operation of the wireless network, or with the channel. In some cases it helped (very few people write about the results).

Well, I only have these two options. So, if your smartphone or tablet connects to your router, but the Internet does not work on it, then we do this:

  • First of all, we try to change the channel on which our network operates. Try, for example, instead of Auto, put static 6th channel. Try several options. More details in the article -. After each change, save the settings and reboot the router.
  • We are trying to change the mode of operation of the wireless network. For example, the default is probably 11bg mixed, you try 11n only. I will not write about this, see more in a separate article -.
  • In the router settings, on the tab where you configure Wi-Fi (most likely the Wireless tab), set the correct region.

Update: check if the proxy is disabled

In the comments, Alexander suggested another way that helped him get rid of this problem. And yet, Albert wrote that this method also helped the emu. So, I decided to add this information to the article.

According to Alexander, the problem was that in the smartphone settings (more precisely a specific network), manual proxy setting has been enabled. As soon as he turned off the proxy, everything immediately worked. Programs like the Play Market began to go online. Here is the comment itself:

I will show you how to turn off the proxy server on your HTC. On other devices, this process will be similar, if not exactly the same.

So we go to Settings, then choose WiFi. Click on our network (with which problems), and hold your finger a little. A menu should appear. In it we choose Change network. Next, check the box next to Advanced options. Looking for an item Proxy settings and choose a status No (if you have it set to Manual).

I hid the screenshots under the spoiler:
