Advantages and principle of operation of an autonomous sewerage septic tank Topas 5

Autonomous sewerage

If we consider the entire range of local treatment facilities, then the palm should be given to the TOPAS brand. The basic principle on which 5 works is the biological treatment of wastewater by aerobic bacteria.

This system does not use natural, but forced bubble aeration. Due to which there is an increased reproduction of bacteria, and, accordingly, the rate of oxidation of water with sewage increases.

Compared to similar products, this septic tank has some advantages:

  • The degree of water purification reaches 99%.
  • Its service life is up to 70 years
  • Ease of installation and maintenance.
  • The septic tank can be installed in various types of soil.
  • No foreign odors.
  • Small power consumption.

The latter indicator could be attributed to disadvantages, but the consumption is so small, and the efficiency of the device is so great that the cost of electricity can not be taken into account.

The TOPAS model range is quite wide, so it will be easy to choose the product that is necessary for your home. The name of the brand has numbers that show how many people the septic tank is designed for. For example, an autonomous sewage system topas 5 is designed for a house where 5 people live permanently.

How does a TOPAS septic tank work?

It is based on the action of aerobic bacteria, which can only exist in the presence of oxygen. They feed on organic matter, converting it into safe chemical compounds. So that the bacteria do not suffocate, air is constantly supplied to the chamber, plus, thereby, the processes of decomposition of wastewater and sewage are accelerated. And everything that the bacteria could not recycle settles to the bottom of the septic tank.

The scheme of his work is as follows:

  1. Sewage flows into the first compartment, where heavy large particles settle to the bottom. Here, the effluents are initially saturated with oxygen. As a result, partial oxidation and decomposition occurs, and mineral particles settle on a special tray, forming a solid monolithic mass. It needs to be cleaned periodically.
  2. Through the overflow (airlift) drains are sent to the second chamber. A special protective filter is installed in the overflow, which does not let large organic particles into the second compartment.
  3. The main cleaning process takes place in the second chamber. A large volume of oxygen is supplied here, due to which the efficiency and rate of decomposition of wastewater increases several times.
  4. The water purified in this way flows into a sump that looks like a pyramid. Silt is deposited here, and water is discharged into the external environment.

Aeration station "TOPAS 5 standard

The performance of a septic tank depends on the volume of its chambers. And this, in turn, is determined by the number of people permanently residing in the house. Therefore, when choosing a device, including a topas 5 septic tank, the instructions for it should become the main guideline. It usually indicates how much waste the container is designed for.

But this calculation can be done independently, based on three indicators:

  • The number of residents.
  • The average amount of water consumed per person per day. This value is constant, and it is equal to 200 liters.
  • The number of days during which the septic tank will withstand this volume. Usually take 3 days.

Now, multiplying these indicators, we can say exactly how much wastewater the septic tank is able to process.

As an example, let's do this calculation for topas 5: 5x200x3 = 3000 liters or 3.0 cubic meters.

But this is a passive activity of the septic tank. Therefore, manufacturers themselves calculate the required volume and indicate it in the brand of the product.

Autonomous sewerage TOPAS for a country house

Some try to do everything “with a margin”, so they try to purchase a septic tank with a larger than necessary volume. But experts say that this is not necessary. In addition, underloading the container will necessarily lead to the death of some of the bacteria, since they will not have enough food. In addition, equipment with higher performance is more expensive. So why waste money on inefficient work?!

There are houses where 3 people live permanently, or water consumption is limited, and TOPAS issues a minimum brand of "5". What to do in this case - to abandon this model?

You can go the other way. If your choice fell on topas, cooperate with your neighbors. The septic tank will be loaded at full capacity, and everyone will be satisfied.

How to install

We install a septic tank

To install topas 5, you need to follow several mandatory steps in sequence:

  1. First determine the installation location. According to sanitary and hygienic standards, the septic tank should be located at a distance of at least 5 meters from the foundation of the house.
  2. Then prepare the pit. Topas 5 has overall dimensions of 1100x1200x2400 mm, so under it it is necessary to dig a hole with dimensions of 1800x1800x2400 millimeters. At the same time, a prerequisite is the installation of formwork, without which work inside the pit becomes dangerous.
  3. Sprinkle the bottom of the pit with a 15-centimeter layer of sand. This is a pillow, because of which the septic tank itself will protrude 15 centimeters above the ground. But you can't do without it. Indeed, during the period of snow melting and heavy rains, the septic tank, if it is installed flush with the ground, is threatened with flooding through the cover of the station or its ventilation pipes. And this can lead to a short circuit and failure of the compressor.
  4. Place the container at the bottom of the pit. This can be done manually, since topas 5 weighs, like topas 8, not much. But for other models, you will have to use special equipment. To lower the device to the bottom of the pit, you will need a strong rope that is passed through special holes in the product body.
  5. Connect the septic tank to the sewer pipe. To insert a pipe, it is necessary to drill a hole in the body itself with a crown, and seal the gap between the pipe walls and the body. To do this, use a special polypropylene cord, which comes with the septic tank, and a building hair dryer to heat the cord. Other sealing methods are unacceptable. And one more thing. The depth of the tie-in of the sewer pipe into the topas septic tank is 70-80 centimeters. This value is not deposited from the upper plane of the device body, but from the ground surface.
  6. Now connect the septic tank to the electrical network. To do this, run a PVA cable with a cross section of 3x1.5 cm through the sewer pipe. Connect one end of it to special terminals inside the septic tank, and the other to the automatic switchboard inside the house. A prerequisite is the passage of the cable in a protective corrugated pipe. Please note that the size of the machines varies in the range of 6-16 A, which depends on the brand of equipment.
  7. The last stage of installation is backfilling. Here you will need sand, which must be filled in simultaneously with pouring water into the device. This is done in order to equalize the pressure created by the sand on the walls of the septic tank.

Important! If the groundwater is located close to the ground surface, then experts recommend choosing a model that has the letters “Pr” in the marking. That is, with forced pumping of purified water using a pump built into the installation itself.

The device is installed, and now you can safely use the sewer.

And finally, some practical advice.

"Topas" autonomous sewage - a great solution

They will be useful to you during the operation of the septic tank:

  • If the electricity is turned off, it is necessary to reduce the discharge of sewage.
  • It is necessary to pump out the silt formed at the bottom in time. Otherwise, this can lead to thickening of deposits and failure of the entire system.
  • Try to minimize the discharge into the sewer of antiseptic solutions and bleaching materials, which can lead to the death of bacteria.
  • Construction waste (sand, lime, chalk, gypsum, etc.) and polymeric insoluble materials must not be dumped into the sewer.
  • It is undesirable to send a large amount of pet hair to the sewer.

The rules are very simple. But if you follow them, your septic tank will work flawlessly for many years.
