Camping table folding made of wood drawing. How to make a folding table with your own hands. How to choose a folding table

A folding table can have a variety of designs, and the choice is not limited to the material, the shape of the table top and the way the legs are attached. In addition, there are different types of assembly options for the assembly method.

The table can have large or compact dimensions, while all parameters are determined by its designated purpose. However, the simpler the design of the folding table, the easier it is to make it yourself.

Options overview

They use a table of a similar structure, as a rule, in a room of small footage, in nature, in a summer house, in facilities under construction. But this is not all areas of application, since if desired and in the event of such a need, a folding table can be taken with you anywhere on the road. This, perhaps, is the main advantage of a piece of furniture of this type.

Other pluses:

  • compact dimensions, even if the table takes up a lot of space when unfolded, after assembly, you can fit this design in any secluded corner so that it does not interfere with movement around the room;
  • unusual design, since in design such pieces of furniture differ significantly from standard counterparts;
  • light weight, which facilitates transportation;
  • folding tables are usually pretty easy to make yourself.

There are many versions of such structures. The main and most popular versions:

  1. Tabletops of excellent shape: square, round, rectangular, oval.
  2. By material: metal, wood, combined.
  3. The table can also vary in the way it folds. So, one of the options is with cruciform legs, as a result, the dimensions of the folded structure change, but the table itself cannot be disassembled. Another view - completely collapsible to get ready product threaded fasteners are used.

There are other versions that are more convenient to transport (table-suitcase), however, they are much more difficult to do with your own hands.

Charting

First you need to evaluate your own capabilities. In the absence of much experience, it is recommended to choose the following design:

We will make the simplest version of a folding table

Depending on the dimensions, this folding piece of furniture can serve as a dining table, it is also used for hiking, fishing, etc.

For the countertop we use glued solid pine

So, you need to decide for what purposes such a table is being prepared. As a result, the scheme with arbitrary dimensions will look like this:

Diagram of legs and crossbars

The specified dimensions are subject to change according to own will. But this should be done in accordance with the level of load exerted on the structure, and as proportionally as possible.

Tool, material for work

Improvised means are selected based on what material will be taken as the basis: wood, chipboard, aluminum. IN living conditions it is easier to make a table out of wood with your own hands. And it is better if the countertop is made of chipboard.

Set of tools:

  • jigsaw;
  • building level;
  • paint brushes;
  • roulette;
  • screwdriver;
  • sandpaper or grinder.

The last of the tools is best used only if you have experience. And the use of sandpaper will significantly slow down the manufacturing process. As for materials, it all depends on the dimensions of the structure.

For example, in accordance with the above sketch, bars of 20x45 mm will be needed. If the folding table is planned to be made larger, you need to use 30x50 mm. The length of purchased bars can be different: 1.2 m; 5 m

All the same, they will have to be cut with your own hands in accordance with the dimensions according to the sketch. The board for the countertop is taken desired thickness. For a large structure, an option up to 40 mm thick is suitable.

Assembly

First, the required number of bars is cut with a small margin in size.

Hole diameters should be slightly more sizes fasteners, for example, for self-tapping screws / M4 bolts, holes with a diameter of 5 mm are prepared. All parts after cutting are processed sandpaper/ grinder. Next, you need to open them. protective composition such as wood varnish.

We connect the support legs together and drill a hole for fasteners

First of all, you need to fix the foot supports with your own hands, there are 4 of them, and they are located perpendicular to the “goats” (folding legs with crossbars at the bottom). This is done using self-tapping screws (3 pieces per support).

They are attached to each other with a bolt.

The location of these elements is determined by the length of the crossbars that will connect the legs. And the distance between adjacent elements should be equal to the width of the bar from which the "goats" are made

First, they knock down the crossbar and 2 legs, you need to prepare two such structures, and one of them should be 40 mm longer (a value equal to the total width of the two legs). It remains only to connect these structures; for this, bolts of sufficient length are used, which are installed in the central through holes x bars.

If you do not understand some of the operations - look at the photo. It gives an idea of general design

It is not necessary to tighten the bolts to ensure free rotation of the axle. "Goats" are attached to the table top by means of a bolted connection with pre-fixed foot supports. To prevent the axial fastening of the legs from becoming loose from regular folding, lock nuts are used in two sections of the cruciform connection.

To make it even more compact when folded, the footrest bolts and the trestle can be removed. It is enough to remove two bolts. For this reason, it is not necessary to overtighten the fasteners in these areas.

The only thing that requires a strong attachment is the foot supports, as these elements provide a secure installation of the legs. If you make a countertop not from wood, but from more light material, for example, chipboard, the finished table will have less weight, which will facilitate its transportation.

Folding table can accompany you on a camping trip, help to receive guests on suburban area, become a stand at an exhibition or even a counter in a store. Multifunctional and useful thing, which, moreover, is not necessary to buy, but can be made with my own hands. I offer 2 master classes on how to do this.

Master class number 1: Rolling table

Before you make a folding table with your own hands, you need to get everything you need:

Work progress

Having prepared everything you need, we proceed to the manufacture of a folding table with our own hands:

Image Description
Sawing round bar into 4 equal parts

Sawing parquet boards so that the result is:
  • 10 pieces 50 mm wide and 600 mm long;
  • 2 pieces 25 mm wide and 600 mm long

Cleaning with sandpaper cut edges of the resulting round bar segments

Cleaning with sandpaper cut edges of the resulting pieces of boards

Preparing the nylon cord:
  • cut off from it two pieces 600 mm long;
  • Scorching their edges with a lighter so that they do not bloom

Laying out planks on a flat surface with the wrong side up, placing dividers of the same thickness between them

We connect the boards nylon cord, stepping back a little from the edge and fixing it with a stapler with staples

We strengthen the mount with a few blows of a hammer if the stapler turned out to be weak and could not drive the staples to a sufficient depth

Second segment nylon cord we fasten the boards on the other side and as a result we get an almost finished tabletop

Drilling holes in the corners of the worktop with a diameter of 6 mm

We insert the bolts into the resulting holes

Installing the crossbars:
  • We stack along the fixed cords, retreating to the edges of the table top, boards 25 mm wide;
  • Celebrating projections of holes on them;
  • Drilling;
  • We put on on bolts

Preparing the legs:
  • We fix in a vice one of four round bars;
  • Drill with a 7 mm drill at its end there is a hole 25 mm deep;
  • Similar actions do with the three remaining bars

Install in the prepared holes brass insert nuts

We wind the legs on bolts protruding from crossbars

Flip and put ready-to-use table with legs
After operation:
  • Unscrew legs;
  • We are filming crossbars;
  • We take out bolts and screw them into the legs so as not to lose;
  • table top turn off

Master class number 2: Table with folding legs

The next do-it-yourself folding table is assembled from a tabletop that splits into two parts and a tucked-in leg system, similar to the one that is installed on camping chairs.

pros such a construction:

  • High stability and strength;
  • No removable parts.

Minuses:

  • More complex instruction manufacturing;
  • Some loss of compactness. The folding tourist table, after all, wins a little in this regard.

Necessary materials

For the most part, the tools used are the same as in the above version, so I will not repeat myself. But with materials, everything is different, here you will need:

Photo Name

plywood sheet:
  • Width- 600 mm;
  • Length- 700 mm;
  • Thickness- 6 mm

round bar with a section of 24 mm and a length of 32 mm

bar with a section of 20 by 40 mm

self-tapping screws

Instead of a sheet of plywood, you can use a ready-made countertop from an old table. In this case, the project will be even cheaper.

Work progress

Consider how to do folding table:

Image Description

Making a countertop:
  • We saw down plywood corners;
  • We round off them with sandpaper;
  • We spend in the middle sheet straight line;
  • Cutting plywood in half according to markup

  • We cut the beam for four blanks of 460 mm;
  • We round off the resulting segments from one edge

  • Drilling in two bars on the non-rounded edges of the recess;
  • Paste in them a piece of a round bar

Assembling the inner legs:
  • Cut off two pieces from the same bar 720 mm long;
  • We round off both ends on them ;
  • We produce cuts at a distance of 160 mm from the bottom edges and one more on the opposite side 50 mm higher ;
  • Paste in the upper cuts a bar;
  • We fasten its self-tapping screws

Assembling the outer legs:
  • They should be 2x wider.

A folding table is a great solution for a large family or a friendly company.

In the folded version, it takes up a minimum of space, and if necessary, the tabletop area is significantly increased due to additional inserts.

This design is suitable for use during the holidays to seat all guests.

A folding table can be bought at the store or made independently.

Folding table options

Folding tables can be made in various variations and different sizes: both small or and large - or

Differ folding tables and by complexity designs - from very simple like folding to equipped special mechanism

materials for the manufacture of tables are also used a variety of. Table tops are made from glass, plastic, chipboard, MDF, tree.

Indispensable for some models and very practical and reliable metal folding legs for the table (with your own hands they can be made from chrome plated pipes).

How to make a table metal profile do it yourself:

The purpose of folding tables can be very different. Here are just a few examples:

Folding table for trade

Folding massage table

Extendable dining table

Even a beginner can make such a table home master. Despite the lightweight design, it is very strong.

When assembled, the width of the tabletop is 700 mm, the length is 1200 mm. Its area is increased due to an additional, central insert. The total length of the extended table is 1670 mm.

At such a table, eight adults can easily accommodate: one from each end and three from both long sides.

Materials and tools

In order to make a folding table with our own hands, we need the following materials:

  • LDSP 25 mm thick;
  • PVC edge with hot melt glue applied to it (thickness no more than 2 mm);
  • aluminum corner 50 x 50 mm (500 mm) - 4 pcs.;
  • telescopic guides (500 mm) - 2 pcs.;
  • thick metal leg (710 mm) - 4 pcs.;
  • furniture lock - 6 pcs.;
  • screw M4 10 mm;
  • self-tapping screws 20 x 4 mm and 16 x 3 mm;
  • household gloves.

Necessary tools for work:

  • tape measure, pencil, long ruler, marker;
  • clamps (for sawing chipboard sheets);
  • building level;
  • milling cutter;
  • building hair dryer (thermal gun);
  • screwdriver;
  • drill and drill with a diameter of 4.2 mm;
  • a circular saw.
  • electric jigsaw and file with fine teeth (so as not to chip the laminated chipboard edge)

Drawing and cutting material

Before starting work, you need to decide on the dimensions of the future product and make a drawing of a folding table. In our example, the dimensions of the sliding tabletop, folded (left) and with insert (right), are as follows:

Stages of work

Step 1. To begin with, we mark out and cut out three parts from chipboard that will serve as a countertop: two identical parts 700 x 600 mm and one for insertion - 700 x 470 mm. In order to without chips make cuts on chipboard, a regular electric one will do jigsaw.

Important: if in the future the part will be processed by a milling cutter, it is worth adding a couple of millimeters to each side.

Then, with clamps, the chipboard sheet is attached to any flat surface. We set the edge of the cut with a level, we guide the jigsaw calmly and accurately.

Step 2 Finishing the edges of parts milling cutter gives a perfectly straight cut. The cutter should also be driven slowly and carefully, working through each section of the cut.

Step 3 We glue the ends of the parts edge from PVC. To do this, we fix the part with a clamp vertically on a stool or table. Cut off the necessary piece of the edge and apply it to the cut, warming up building hair dryer. All work is carried out in economic gloves. After the glue has completely dried, you can continue .

Step 4 For safety, you can cut sharp corners on all aluminum corners and round off their.

Step 5 Now we take two corners and guide. On the outer side of one corner, mark 25 mm from the rounded edges and draw a line that will divide the side of the corner in half. We perform the same procedure with each from the rest of the corners.

Step 6 We apply parts of the guides to the corners and plan bolt holes. We knock them out a little with a nail (so that the drill does not come off) and we drill. We fasten them with bolts.

Step 7 We got two designs from the corners. I put them on even surface in this way: corners with thin guides (movable) - inside, corners with thick guides (fixed) - outside. We drill four holes in the fixed corners and four in the movable ones.

Note: all holes in the movable guides are made from the outside, in the fixed ones - from the inside (i.e., the holes should be on opposite sides products).

Step 8 We put two identical parts from chipboard on flat surface, flip facial side down. Put both on top telescope(moving side in and fixed side out) at a distance 8 cm from each end. The middle of the telescope should coincide with a junction of parts.

Step 9 moving side fasten self-tapping screws (20 x 4 mm) to the right side of the tabletop, motionless - to the left.

Step 10 Attached to each side of the table padlock using self-tapping screws 16 x 3 mm.

Step 11 We open locks and pushing apart countertop. Insert between them middle piece face down. We shift tightly countertop, to form a flat surface.

Now, for a complete set, I decided to make a tourist simple table - a folding bed. Such a table when folded looks like a small plywood suitcase. The table design project includes the manufacture of a plywood tabletop. This material is strong enough specific gravity it is quite acceptable for use as the main material for this type of portable furniture. The plywood suitcase is easy to carry and takes up little space in the trunk of a car.

For its manufacture, he prepared tools and purchased the necessary materials.

Tool

Since the furniture assembly scheme is based on plywood materials and wooden beam, then you need the appropriate tool:

  • drill;
  • jigsaw;
  • screwdriver;
  • wrench by 6 mm;
  • chisel;
  • level;
  • tape measure, square, ruler, pencil.

materials

I bought materials according to the list I compiled:

  • plywood sheet 140 x 70 x 1 cm;
  • timber 800 x 4 x 4 cm - 1 pc.;
  • plastic handle - 1 pc.;
  • suitcase locks - 2 pcs.;
  • fasteners screw-screw 100 x 6 mm with a grip for a wrench - 4 pcs.;
  • wing nut ø 6 mm - 4 pcs.;
  • furniture hinges - 2 pcs.;
  • screws 30 mm - 30 pcs.

I decided to make camping furniture from two folding tabletops measuring 70 x 70 cm each. The height of the legs was determined by 60 cm, so that they fit freely inside the suitcase. At the same time, such a height of the legs should provide a comfortable position for a person sitting at a table on an ordinary chair.

After preparing to assemble a do-it-yourself homemade camping table was completed, started step by step paragraphs of this manual.

Step by step instructions on how to make a tourist table

  1. A sheet of plywood was cut with an electric jigsaw into two parts measuring 70 x 70 cm.
  2. The beam was cut into pieces for the stretcher: 70 cm - 4 pcs., 620 - pcs., And for legs 600 mm - 4 pcs.
  3. From the pieces of timber 70 cm and 62 cm I assembled 2 subframes, connecting them with screws at the junctions.
  4. I laid plywood on top of the frames.
  5. I fixed the plywood sheets with screws around the perimeter of the frames with a screwdriver.
  6. With a chisel, I made recesses of 2 mm in size for furniture hinges in the back side of the adjoining frames to each other.
  7. The hinges were placed in the recesses and secured with screws.
  1. In the corners of the frames, I made 4 through holes ø 6 mm with a drill.
  2. I screwed 4 screws-screws into the upper ends of the legs with a wrench.
  3. On one side of the side of the frame, I fixed a plastic handle with screws.
  4. In places where the tabletops meet, I attached suitcase locks to the frames with screws.
  5. The screws-screws of the legs were inserted with threaded ends into the corner holes of the frames.
  6. From the outside, the threaded ends of the fasteners were secured with wing nuts.
  7. I put the table on its legs and checked the levelness of the tabletops with a level.
  8. Then he removed the legs, laid them inside the tabletops of folding furniture.
  9. He folded the countertops, closed the locks. The table took a stowed position.

To once again make sure that the furniture for tourism was assembled correctly, I assembled it again and checked all the fasteners. Here's what happened in the end.

Cost of materials

At the end of the work, I calculated the cost of materials in order to manufacture folding furniture:

  • plywood sheet 140 x 70 x 0.9 cm = 150 rubles;
  • timber 800 x 4 x 4 cm = 8 m x 110 rubles. = 880 rubles;
  • plastic handle - 1 pc. = 15 rubles;
  • suitcase locks - 2 pcs. = 20 rubles;
  • fasteners screw-screw 100 x 8 mm with a grip for a wrench - 4 pcs. = 20 rubles;
  • wing nut ø 8 mm - 4 pcs. x 2 rub. = 8 rubles;
  • furniture hinges - 2 pcs. - 10 rubles;
  • screws 30 mm - 30 pcs. in stock.

Total: 1103 rubles.

Labor costs

I spent 1 hour on cutting a plywood sheet and cutting a beam with an electric jigsaw. The assembly of the table took 2 hours. Total DIY time extendable table was spent in the amount of 3 hours. During the work, he used a respirator and goggles.

For those who have little experience in assembling furniture, it will be useful to watch the corresponding video, and then get to work. Such furniture will be indispensable for a tourist going on a hike for a picnic in nature.

The table is an essential attribute of every home, allowing you to create comfortable conditions for life. But many residential apartments cannot fit a full-fledged structure inside, since this piece of furniture takes up a lot of space. Transforming tables will help to correct the situation, which can, if necessary, be disassembled or converted into another product. Before you make a folding table with your own hands, it is important to choose optimal design and functionality of this design. This will allow you to optimally fit it into the interior, making it as useful and in demand as possible.

Features and benefits of a folding table

The folding table is a design that consists of several independent elements. All elements of the system are interconnected by special fasteners, which allows, if necessary, to disassemble it for individual parts. The classic representative is a table, in which the tabletop is moved apart, and another part is inserted into the vacated space.

Tables of this type have several positive aspects:

  • Functionality. The table can change its dimensions, which allows them to be increased if necessary (arrival of guests, and so on). At the same time, it is very easy to supplement such a system drawers to be used as additional storage.
  • Small dimensions. The design is completely disassembled, which allows you to keep it in the pantry or on the balcony. The dimensions of the table itself are compact and practical.
  • Originality. Almost all tables that are made by hand have no analogues on the market and are distinguished by many details.
  • Practicality. The table can be installed both in the kitchen and in the living room, transforming its size. This approach also allows you to save quite a lot of space, which is important for small apartments.
  • Reliability. The service life of the structure can be very long if the drawings are followed in the manufacture and high-quality fittings are used.

materials

The quality of transforming tables depends largely on the material from which they are made. Today, for the design of such systems use:

  • Chipboard. The plate is durable and low price, so it is very often used in the manufacture of such furniture. To give the table attractive design, you can make it from chipboard.
  • Fiberboard. This material is in many ways similar to the previous type of product. The plate is perfectly processed and practically harmless to humans.
  • Tree. Solid wood tables are the most durable and expensive. The material is easy to use, and also has a unique texture that can be matched to any style of home.
  • Plywood. This product not used as main. It is made from auxiliary elements(shelves, rear walls, boxes, etc.).
  • Metal. This material is one of the strongest and most durable. It is used for the construction of parts that are subjected to significant loads (metal legs and so on). Very often used here profile pipes different section and forms.

It should be noted that today many parts for tables can also be made from polypropylene pipe, glass and other similar materials.

How to make a folding transformer table yourself?

Transforming tables come in several types, as they are used to solve various problems. The algorithm for creating such structures consists of several sequential steps:

  • Initially, you need to decide on the type of product. Today, tables-beds or tables-sofas are very popular. The next step is to create drawings with all structural elements. The best option will use ready-made plans.
  • At this stage, the selection of materials and accessories is carried out. Transformer mechanisms are of several types. They differ in the method of fastening and the parameters of spatial movement. For example, a bench-table should have not only sliding, but also lifting mechanisms.

  • When all the materials are collected, they begin to manufacture the structural elements of the table (tabletops, legs, and so on). Here it is important to carefully adjust all dimensions so that the future system can move without effort and failure.
  • The procedure ends with the assembly of the table. It all starts with small items, which are not minimally transformed. After that, they go to large systems, where turn-sliding mechanisms are already installed. At the same time, careful measurements are performed before fixing each element.

The process of building transforming tables can be both easy and complex. It all depends on your imagination and desire. Sometimes you can just attach wheels to a transformer to change its purpose and functionality.

Production of a turn-and-fold model

Turn-and-fold tables are systems in which the tabletop can move to the side parallel to the floor. This design is much more complicated than the usual folding model. It uses special loops and mechanisms that provide this functionality.

The construction algorithm of such a design can be divided into several successive stages:

  • First of all, you need to carefully calculate the table-book. It is advisable to use ready-made drawings, on which all the main dimensions are applied.
  • After that, a material is selected that can withstand many rotation cycles. The best options would be metal and natural wood.
  • When everything is ready, the frame and countertops are made under the table. The upper part should be completely covered by one element. The second tabletop will be hidden under the table. After careful measurements, the lid is screwed to the frame using special transforming mechanisms. It is important to control the location of all structural elements.

Please note that the second cover can be attached to the first element, forming a kind of book. A similar table with a folding top is much more convenient and practical.

Homemade folding wooden table against the wall

Wall tables are one of the most popular wall tables optimal solutions for small kitchens. These designs do not take up much space, which makes them very functional. The construction of such a structure involves the following operations:

  • Initially you need choose the material for the countertop. Many today use chipboard sheets for this, but wood is best, as it is durable and beautiful. The shield can be knocked down or glued from several polished boards. After that, you need to determine the height of the table. Based on these values, 2 supporting legs are made. Theoretically, they can be adjusted to the height after fixing the cover to the wall.
  • At the very end of the countertop screwed to the wall. For this, special rotary mechanisms. Please note that the product should not fit snugly against the support, as it will not be possible to close it. When the canvas is screwed, you should take care of the fixation system in vertical position. The process ends with the installation of the legs. Attach them to two corners using rotary systems.

If desired, the legs can be made removable.

Making a coffee table in the hall

This table features small size. Externally, this design may resemble coffee table. Today, there are many options for such products that differ in design and technical equipment.

Consider how to build a table for the living room with your own hands. This procedure consists of several successive steps:

  • Initially, you need to select materials. The best option would be wooden plank and bruce. Of these, you should create a frame under the countertop. Outwardly, it resembles an ordinary square or rectangular table, only without a lid.
  • After that, cut out of the boards and form two countertops. One of them should be smaller and fit inside the frame (it will be hidden). The second cover is made as for a regular table.

  • The assembly of the structure begins with the installation of a small table top inside the table (between the legs). To do this, use a special mechanism that can, if necessary, move the system up. The tabletop should, as it were, rise and move simultaneously to one side.
  • When the bottom sheet is fixed, the top tabletop is mounted in a similar way. It is mounted on special levers, which also allow you to lift and move the system.

Please note that the upper part must be displaced in such a way as to make it possible to get the lower shelf and install it next to it.

Features of creating a round product

Round folding tables are very popular today, as they are distinguished by their originality. Technically, such a design can be supplemented with an insert in the middle, which will increase its size.

Creating a semicircular table involves making round tabletop. This process is quite simple and consists of the following steps:

  • Initially, a layout is drawn on paper future design. This can be done in different ways, but often they use a thread and a pencil, which is attached to one of its ends. The second end is simply placed in the center and held, and the pencil is moved to the stretch.
  • After that, with the help of a workpiece, the circle is transferred to the boards folded together. Some experts alternately cut out the parts, applying the dimensions of the board to a certain part of the circle.
  • When the tabletop is cut, it is glued or knocked down with the help of transverse bars. After that, you need to cut it strictly in the center of the circle to form two even halves. The procedure is completed by installing these elements on the table frame using the movement mechanisms.

Camping table-suitcase

This design combines not only a surface for eating, but also a container for storing certain things that will come in handy in nature. To build such a table is relatively simple and can be done in several steps:

  • Initially, you need to choose the bars for the frame. The capacity of the suitcase will also depend on their thickness. The best option would be a rectangular beam, about 4-5 cm thick.
  • At this stage, the sides of the suitcase are being built. For this, rectangles of a certain size are knocked down from the bars. Here it is important to carefully fit all the ends in order to get even and not skewed parts. Then a sheet of plywood is nailed to one of the sides of the frame, which will act as a countertop. The result should be two small boxes with a closed bottom.
