How to make a stork for a summer residence with your own hands: a master class

garden stork do-it-yourself - one of the favorite crafts of summer residents and gardeners and there are a lot of variations of its execution on the Internet, but the manufacturing principle is approximately the same in all cases, regardless of the materials used and the richness of the decor. Read how to make beautiful wooden signs for your home.

First of all, the head, neck, torso, wing frame and legs are made, which are connected with fastening tools.

All the remaining time is devoted to a rather painstaking procedure for cutting, fringing and decorating feathers - they will make up the plumage of the body, neck and tail of the bird. There are homemade options without using plastic bottles, but they are less common. Let's take a closer look different variants making a stork in this article.

Materials and tools for a garden figure

The figure of a stork is made up of a head, beak, neck, torso, paws, wings and white plumage with layers of black feathers. All parts are fastened together with a furniture stapler and seated on universal glue.

The body of a stork can be cut out of a wooden block of the desired size, polystyrene foam or a 5-liter plastic canister.

  • plastic bottles 1.5 and 1 l from milk;
  • plastic bottles of 1.5 and 0.5 liters from kvass or beer;
  • canister 5 l;
  • scissors;
  • glue;
  • self-tapping screws;
  • a piece of foam;
  • corrugated tube;
  • steel bars;
  • frame mesh;
  • thin wire;
  • sandpaper;
  • furniture stapler;
  • red acrylic paint.

The plumage of the stork is also made from transparent bottles, but then the plastic under the feathers should first be painted with white and black acrylic paints.

Production steps from plastic bottles

Having prepared necessary materials and tools, you can start making constituent parts crafts. About beautiful wooden fences find out with your own hands.

It is important that all parts of the stork's body are proportionate to each other.

Head

With a sharp knife, the contour of the head with the beak is cut out of the foam, after which the surface is polished, and the edges of the beak are leveled with sandpaper. If desired, the head can be painted with white paint - the coating will give the future product a rich White color and will create an additional barrier from the sun, wind and rain.

The beak consists of 2 plates that are attached to the head with self-tapping screws. For a beak, the neck and bottom are cut off from a dark plastic bottle, and the rest is cut into rectangular plates. Triangles are cut from the resulting blanks, which will subsequently be the upper and lower parts of the beak.

The plates are bent in the middle and screwed to the junction of the head and beak.

Paws

The paws are cut out of 2 half-liter bottles with dark walls, after cutting off their bottom. The fingers of the future bird are cut off from the very edge to the neck of the bottle - you should get 3 in front and 1 in the back, and bend outward.

Each finger is shaped into a long, sharp triangle with scissors.

Plumage

Processing blanks for feathers to give them a beautiful natural shape with feather veins is the most labor-intensive and long part of the work.

To cut feathers, the bottom and neck of the bottle are cut off, and the cylinder of the bottle is cut into 6 equal parts - 6 feathers. They will different sizes: for plumage of the body - small, for the tail - longer. Each feather needs to be given airiness by creating a fringed fringe around the edges. He will tell you about metal forged gazebos for giving.

Plumage on the neck can be done in 3 ways:

  • cutting out even smaller plates than for the stomach, decorating them with a fringe and curling them with scissors;
  • cutting off large plates to the length of the neck and serrating their edges;
  • cutting off half of the bottle and making deep sharp cuts in the resulting plates.

Each pen is a rectangular plate made of a plastic bottle with a rounded or embossed edge.

frame

The body of a stork is conveniently made from a 5-liter canister, from which the handle is first cut off. Then a mesh is attached to the container, to which future feathers will be attached - it is bent and cut in the shape of a wing.

Next, you can proceed to assemble the main part of the product - a neck tube is inserted into the neck of the canister, and 2 holes are cut in the lower part, through which a long piece of a thick rod bent in half is threaded - these are paws.

The nets are fixed with wire or steel brackets on the canister.

Assembly and decoration

The stork is assembled starting from the head - it is connected with a wire to a corrugated tube and additionally fixed with hot glue.

Feathers are fixed with a stapler, starting from the bottom of the canister and then upward in layers. The tail is attached to the back of the figure. The plumage is also applied to the mesh in layers, starting from the outer edge, and fixed with wire. In this case, black feathers are located on the outer edge. You will get only about 6-7 layers of feathers. The extreme row connecting to the tube is screwed with self-tapping screws.

Prepared plates with pointed edges from half bottles are wrapped around the neck.

The number of feathers depends on the location of the wings: the option under consideration is designed for folded wings, but when flapping, the wing mesh is covered with feathers from 2 sides and the back of the stork is also made.

After assembling the bird, you can proceed to the creative design of the craft.

Eyes can be bought ready-made in stores that sell parts for knitted and sewn toys and glue with hot glue. For plug-in eyes choose large black beads or balls. You can also draw eyes - with simple black or colored paints to your taste.

It is necessary to paint feathers, if transparent bottles were used during work, before cutting them, after wiping the surface of the coating with an alcohol solution.

The beak and legs of the product also need to be painted with red paint. Alternatively, you can wrap them with red tape.

What else can you make a stork from

Craftsmen manage to create masterpieces from everything that is lying around in the garage, including, and also use the leftovers building materials after repair. Several of these variations of garden storks can be safely taken into account - it will not be more difficult to make them than the previous version.

From polyurethane foam

In this way, you can create a garden sculpture by turning and giving the figure of a stork a realistic image. The “skeleton” of the product will be a steel frame - steel bars are welded to each other, and then other elements of the stork's body are mounted on them.

To make a stork you will need:

  • 5 liter plastic bottle;
  • polyurethane foam;
  • steel bars;
  • Styrofoam;
  • dye;
  • ground solution;
  • scotch;
  • rasp.

You need to put on the body-bottle on the frame, and attach the sharpened pieces of polystyrene to each other with adhesive tape to the neck rod. Figured foam hips are fixed in the same way.

Even with the use of waterproof plywood, the possibility of soaking the sculpture in cold period year increases, so it is recommended to store it in the room before the onset of heat.

To make a stork you will need:

  • plywood;
  • plastic bottles with white and dark walls;
  • hot glue gun;
  • rods;
  • jigsaw;
  • self-tapping screws;
  • scissors;
  • screwdriver;
  • furniture stapler;
  • red acrylic paint.

It is advisable to apply the elements of the body and wings first on paper, creating a “pattern” of the details before cutting them out on a sheet of plywood. The wings are screwed to the body with self-tapping screws. The paws are made of steel rods and are attached with brackets to plywood sheets that act as a torso. Plywood sheets are also used for or.

Feathers are created from bottles, and each plate, in turn, is processed along the edges with scissors to obtain an airy fringe. The plumage is applied to the entire surface of the stork, starting from the back: first, black feathers are laid out, and then white, from which the tail of the bird is also created.

Each blank is sanded along the edges and the surface is primed.

  • a layer of red paint is applied to the plywood beak;
  • eyes can be drawn independently.

The bars of the legs can be sharpened from the bottom edge so that they easily fix the product in the soil.

Styrofoam

Styrofoam stork - monolithic construction, lightweight and easy to manufacture.

For work you will need:

  • foam sheets;
  • steel bars;
  • glue universal;
  • scissors;
  • saw;
  • furniture stapler;
  • sandpaper;
  • Acrylic paint in black and red.

First of all, paws are made - the lower edges of 2 steel rods are sharpened, and the upper ones are bent for subsequent fixation in the foam body.

Main creative work over such a stork is to create right blanks from foam, because the finished bird will consist entirely of it. The body, head and neck are drawn in foam and cut with a saw. Pro plastic barrels for watering at the cottage will tell.

Iron rods are fixed in the stork's body with brackets, its surface is sheathed with a layer of foam for volume, and wing blanks are glued on top. The neck and head are mounted on a rod.

The stork's beak is painted red, and it is better to make false eyes, from beads or balls - this way the figure will turn out more expressive.

Next, the final modeling of the figure is performed, giving it smooth and beautiful features with sandpaper and a knife. This is the case when you do not need to make feathers for a bird - the relief plumage can be cut directly on the body of the product, simply by accentuating the edges of the wings with black paint.

How to make a garden stork nest

The classical composition with storks in the nest traditionally symbolized cozy house with a large family among the East Slavic peoples, indicated the fertility and hospitality of the owners. Installing storks in a nest on own site, a flower bed, a roof of a house on or a recreation area with children will help not only decorate the territory, but also show guests that the owners are jacks of all trades. He will tell about street country washbasins.

Old wheels from a bicycle, cart, trailer or wheelbarrow will fit under the nest frame. You can weave a nest from a bush and live or dry branches, fixing the entire structure with steel wire and installing it on a special platform consisting of X-shaped linings.

Conclusion

  1. The most time-consuming and laborious work on a garden stork is to create its plumage - each feather must be worked on manually, giving the edges a jagged or fringed shape so that they look like natural bird feathers.
  2. Feathers from transparent bottles should be dyed white and black to mimic the natural plumage of a stork.
  3. Before painting the feathers, they must be wiped of dust and wiped with an alcohol solution so that the paint lies evenly.
  4. The easiest way to make a stork is to make it completely out of Styrofoam and sharpen it with a knife and rasp to the desired shape; the simplest wing without a frame is made from a piece of plywood, which is screwed to the homemade body with self-tapping screws.
  5. The body with the neck can be made from a plastic 5-liter canister with a cut off handle and neck, into which a corrugated tube is then inserted.
  6. It is also possible to make a garden sculpture from the remnants of building materials lying around after repairs, and it will cost almost free. Additionally, you will need to buy only acrylic paints in order to draw eyes and paint feathers.

Mounting foam - comfortable material for creativity, since it is plastic, quickly hardens, it is easy to process. With its help, create original sculptures to decorate the garden plot. A do-it-yourself stork made of polyurethane foam looks spectacular.

Materials and tools

Required:

  • five-liter plastic canister(will serve as the basis of the frame);
  • mounting foam;
  • Styrofoam;
  • thick wire;
  • acrylic paint (black, gray, red);
  • facade varnish;
  • scotch;
  • PVA glue;
  • unnecessary electrodes;
  • wood chip;
  • bird feathers (optional)
  • stapler.

Sculpture making

Stages of work:

  1. Make a neck frame out of wire. Tape strips of foam to it with tape to give volume.
  2. Cut a piece of spherical foam, put it on the tip of the wire (this is the head). Attach a sliver to serve as a nose.
  3. Make legs: pierce the canister with electrodes. At the junctions with plastic, it is necessary to put pieces of foam plastic in order to imitate the thickening at the stork's legs at the top.
  4. Cut out two pieces of foam in the shape of a semicircle - these are the wings. Attach them with wire to the sides of the container.
  5. For strength, wrap the entire workpiece, except for the electrodes, with adhesive tape. You have to start from the head.
  6. Apply mounting foam to the workpiece in zigzags. Each layer needs to dry for 20-30 minutes.
  7. After the foam has hardened, cut off all excess with a knife.
  8. Make a primer (dilute PVA glue with water in a ratio of 1: 2). Lubricate the stork. This will help reduce paint consumption.
  9. Paint the sculpture: tail and wingtips with gray and black paint, beak and legs with red.
  10. Paint the bird.
  11. Insert feathers into the neck of the canister and attach them to the walls with a stapler. Place the sculpture by burying the electrodes in the ground.

It is very easy to make from plywood. To do this, you do not need to look for a place in the garage or rent warehouse space: enough spacious kitchen and mother-in-law, a great lover of crafts.

To make the process go quickly, purchase a six-millimeter sheet of plywood and paint from the building materials market, which are used to update the facade of the house. The tool, if not enough, ask a neighbor or rent it. Do-it-yourself stork for a garden is an interesting craft, but a little capricious. Patience is the main condition when doing work, otherwise you can drag out the work so much that they are more likely to buy metal figurines rather than waiting for inspiration to find you.

To make a stork for the garden with your own hands in a matter of days, follow the tips:

  1. The piece of plywood should be rectangular shape, with sides of 850 and 580 millimeters.
  2. Paint is better to take white. Buy black and red dye for it. With proper breeding, you will get an exceptionally stable color.
  3. Do not refuse waterproof varnish: it will help protect your product from atmospheric precipitation.
  4. Sandpaper is enough and half a meter.
  5. It is better to use an electric jigsaw.
  6. Brushes are up to you.

With the help, transfer the outline of the stork to plywood, if the drawing is already applied to a thin sheet of newspaper, plug in the power cord of the jigsaw and carefully cut out the body of your stork. In order to “put the bird on its feet”, you can also cut out a stand from the remnants of plywood.

Sand the edges in pieces sandpaper, cover with the first layer of varnish, let dry. Now you can take on the paint. Cook 3 types - red, white, black. The first tone is on the nose, the second on the body and up to the middle of the wing, the third is allowed to empty places. Leave for 8 hours. Check the paint for strength and apply another layer of varnish on top.

On the legs, you can start up or thin fittings. Fasten it to the body and stand, cover it with red, deepen the places for the eyes with a few blows with a hammer, fill in the potholes with black and leave for a day. If there is no fittings, then you can use the old Stork for the garden with your own hands and bridge it on the roof ridge if you wish, if you screw the body to the mop, the wide part of which goes under the rafters, where it is nailed.

What else can you do for the garden with your own hands? Fly agaric from hemp and basin, animal figurines from cans, a unique bed in pink tones.

But the stork is somehow closer to the heart of a Russian person. This noble bird can also be molded from gypsum and clay, and one plastic bottle, 500 grams of gypsum, gauze bandages and metal rods that bend well, 3 cans go to it

And your bird can also become the ancestor of a whole bird family in the country. For example, a stork can open a bird gallery, but homemade flamingos, peacocks, herons will continue it ... Fantasy is limitless! Some craftsmen simply paint a plywood blank, varnish it. It turns out such a kind of painting on wood, where fantasy images are combined with your own creative abilities.

Your garden will indeed become a place of miracles.

What else can you make a stork from

We list only the most popular options:

  • car tires(perhaps the most popular option);
  • forged parts;
  • plastic lids(but this is jewelry work);
  • tree;
  • shells;
  • disks.

The easiest option is a plywood stork. You simply make a template with your own hands, according to which you cut out the future sculpture. Paint your bird of happiness on both sides acrylic paints. Or those that you have, covering the pattern with construction varnish on top.

DIY decor for a summer residence (video)

A stork in the country can only be the beginning of your creative experiments. As practice shows, appetite comes with eating: even far from artistic work people get a taste, and other interesting characters appear on the site over time. And this is great, they delight not only the owners, but also the guests, who are becoming more and more in connection with such country art.

Interesting idea. But is there enough talent? And I'm also worried that the design will not be stable. If you make a body from a plastic bottle, then it will probably need to be weighted with something. Not to be blown away by the wind.

I made a pig using a 5 liter plastic bottle, though they are mostly just made from bottles, cutting out the shape they need, but I still had polyurethane foam and covered the bottle with it. The pig came out fat and looked natural. Only to smooth the foam in the form of leather, I used gloves and lubricated with oil, so the foam practically did not stick. Painted on top and done.

I do too garden sculptures with the help of plastic bottles, but I prefer to stick around them with plaster and give them any necessary shape. Pretty easy and low cost. Then I just paint with any paint and the figure is ready.

I also want to make a couple of storks :) (I have two adults, only the price is exorbitant) There are pieces of hard foam, but it's scary to cut - I'm not an artist - an electrician :) 😮 . But, I think, I will decide all the same .. I will try to provide the result. By the way, the cart wheel has already been sculpted from foam plastic ..

First, decide where you will place the stork figure, because it depends on what base the craft will have. Traditionally, such figures are mounted on trees, building a nest of branches under them. But you can place a stork on the roof of the house or in a flower bed on the ground.

We decided to make a whole composition, which will include not one, but two figures of a stork, if you repeat everything exactly after us, you will get the same thing.

Prepare the following materials ahead of time

Plastic bottles.
- Wide board.
-Metal rod or thick enough wire.
- A sheet of foam plastic with a thickness of at least 10 centimeters.
- Corrugated hose, can be used, left, for example, from an old vacuum cleaner.
- Plastic canisters with a volume of at least 5 liters.
-Metal mesh, from which we will make wings for the bird.
-Stapler.

How to make a stork figure

Despite the fact that the figure turns out to be spectacular, it will take only a few hours to create it.

First thing sharp knife cut out the head of a bird with a base for a beak from the foam. Immediately make eyes, you can draw them, or glue black beads instead.

From a bottle suitable color cut out the beak. Ours consists of two parts. Do everything exactly as in the photo. The finished beak is glued to the head.

Now let's create the bird's body. For this purpose, we have prepared a canister, from which we will immediately cut off the handle so that the shape is close to the real body of the stork. We attach a mesh to the body, bent in the shape of a canister. We cut off the excess parts immediately.

We make the legs from a rod, and we prepared the board as the base of the figure. Attach the rod to the board as shown in the photo.

Now let's move on to the most interesting: we will decorate the figure with plastic spoons. Start with the tail, gradually moving further along the body.

The head and body are connected with a wire, and to make the neck look natural, we put a corrugated hose on the wire. From plastic bottles, we make slips so that they look like feathers.

Also, the carved elements of the bottles go to the feathers of the wings. Lay so that each next row partially overlaps the previous one. You can fasten the plastic together with a stapler.

On last step we connect all the details together. It turned out the figure of a bird, but to give it the greatest realism, it should be correctly painted. Pay attention to what details of the figure are painted.

Having the skill of making a stork figure, you can make other bird figures: plastic bottles and spoons make an excellent imitation of plumage.
