Distance from bench to table. Dimensions of a bench with a back. Ideas for making wooden furniture

What parameters and sizes should you consider when choosing a table?

We would like to tell you a little about the useful numbers necessary for the correct placement of a kitchen table or lunch group. To do this, we studied the recommended dimensions for arranging dining tables and chairs indoors, based on the size of a person’s body and the space they occupy.

1. Table width

It is generally accepted that the table area required for one person when eating should correspond to the dimensions of 60*40 cm. This area provides the necessary space for comfortable accommodation at the table without disturbing your neighbors.

In the center of the table it is necessary to provide a space at least 20 cm wide for placing dishes, decanters and other utensils, so the ideal width dining table the width is considered to be 80-85 cm. Round and polygonal tables with a diameter of 90-120 cm are perfect for accommodating 4 or more people.

Usually kitchen tables are made with the same height - 75 cm; the sizes and shapes of the tables can be different. But, despite this, there are basic standards for the comfortable placement of a person sitting at the kitchen table and requirements for the arrangement of furniture in the room, taking into account the width of the passages and other factors.

For a person sitting at a kitchen or work table, a distance of at least 87.5 cm is provided (Fig. 1, 2).

2. Distance to walls or other furniture

There should be a space of more than 75 cm from the edge of the table to the nearest wall or pieces of furniture. If there is a passage behind the back of a sitting person, this space should be more than 80 - 110 cm. (Fig. 3), in various sources a distance of 125 cm is indicated (Fig. 4).

When placing a dining group with a sofa in a kitchen or dining room, you should focus on the following parameters: the width of the dining area, including the width kitchen sofa, must be at least 220 cm, taking into account the table width of 80 cm. This dinner Zone will accommodate up to 5 people (Fig. 5).

However, when placing a dining group consisting of a kitchen table with chairs, you will need a little less space- only 200 cm in width and 190 cm in length (for seating 5 people, Fig. 6).

Standard sizes:

We recommend that you familiarize yourself with the useful, visual pictures (Fig. 7A), which show minimum dimensions occupied area kitchen tables V various options(pull-out table, desk, bar counter) and the required minimum distance for people to pass.

In Figure 7 you can see all types of tables and their recommended sizes, depending on the shape.

When choosing a place to install a dining table, you should consider lighting recommendations. Figure 8 will help us with this.

It clearly shows that in the dining room ceiling lamp should illuminate the table and all the objects that stand on it, but not the faces of the people around. If you use it for lighting table lamp, it is recommended to install it at eye height so that under the lampshade you can look at your interlocutor, but the lamp does not shine into your eyes.

We hope that this article will help you understand the features of placement various types lunch groups

As a rule, one of the first objects to improve a summer cottage is a table and a bench. Only after them, perhaps, a comfortable gazebo or slide with a pond will appear. In the meantime, there are two pillars dug into the ground as legs, and a tabletop made of scrap material nailed to them on top. Quick and easy? Yes. But not rational. The same work will have to be done if it becomes necessary to move the table to another location on the site.

The advantages of such a solution are obvious - moving the monoblock to a new place will not be difficult, and it can be installed on any flat surface.

I would like to bring to your attention the design of a bench and a table, which will be located in a monoblock and form a single whole. The advantages of such a solution are obvious - moving the monoblock to a new place will not be difficult, and it can be installed on any flat surface. In addition, the design itself is so simple that to create it you only need edged board with a thickness of 30-40 mm, standard carpentry tools - a hacksaw and a hammer and several dozen nails. And it will take you no more effort and time than digging in pillars and attaching the table top to them.

Like any work, the construction of the structure in question begins with the choice of future dimensions and proportions. The length of the tabletop can be selected depending on the expected number of seats, for example, for four people the length is enough to make 100-110 cm, and for five – 140-150 cm. Also, this size can be adjusted by cutting to the length of the existing boards, so that there are fewer scraps .

The width of the tabletop will be 55-65 cm, the width of the benches will be 22-28 cm. Again, it is worth taking into account the width of the existing boards so as not to engage in labor-intensive longitudinal sawing. It is better not to experiment with height, but strictly follow the recommendations for choosing it: for a table - 72-75 cm, for a bench - 38-42 cm.

Particular attention should be paid when choosing the distance between the bench and the table. The comfort of the entire structure as a whole will depend on its value. If the distance is too small, it will be inconvenient to sit down and get up from the table. If the distance is too great, it will be uncomfortable to sit at the table. The recommended distance between the table and the bench is from 10 to 15 cm. But it is better to determine the final position during assembly.

A small hole equal to the diameter of the umbrella leg will help install a sun umbrella into the resulting monoblock table.

And one more important parameter is the width of the lower part of the table support L. The degree of stability of the entire monoblock depends on it. I will omit the theoretical and practical part of the calculations in mechanics and will only say that the fulcrum point O (O1) must be located directly under the bench, since for the balance of the monoblock required condition– the load on the bench P (overturning moment of force) must always be less than the weight of the structure Q (restoring moment of force). Using this simple rule, you should select the value of the parameter L (the width of the lower part of the support).

In my opinion, the most rational sequence when creating a structure is the following. First, the table box is assembled by fastening two sidewalls and two longitudinal walls together. Then, a support is attached to one of the sidewalls, the second support is attached according to the template of the first. After this, the tabletop is applied. Only after this are the seats mounted on the crossbars of the supports, having previously tried them on, focusing on the convenience of getting out and sitting at the table.

You can fasten the supports to the frame of the table and the bench to the supports not only with nails, but also with bolts and nuts. In this case, the structure will be collapsible, which may allow it to be disassembled for winter storage.

And finally. A small hole equal to the diameter of the umbrella leg will help install a sun umbrella into the resulting monoblock table (see photo above).

A gazebo without furniture is like cheese without milk and sausage without meat. There is no benefit to it in such a performance. You won't rest in it after working day and you won’t be able to have get-togethers with friends. That is why the arrangement of a gazebo should be taken seriously. If you want to save money, then, in principle, you can always make furniture for the gazebo with your own hands. How to implement this? This will be discussed in the article.

How the garden chairs and table in the gazebo will look largely depends on how the constructed structure looks, namely we're talking about about the materials from which it is made and its configuration. So, furniture can be:

  1. Portable or built-in. It's up to you to make built-in furniture during the construction of the gazebo or after completing this process. You can also make a built-in table with portable chairs/benches or vice versa. It all depends on your preferences. If you decide to install built-in furniture, then you should take into account the fact that the distance between the table and the bench should be within 5–10 cm.
  2. From different materials. For example, if the gazebo is wooden, then to achieve harmony, tables and chairs should be made of wood. And if the frame of the building is made of metal, then the bases of the table and chairs must be appropriate.
  3. With different bench widths. A person with normal weight will feel comfortable on a bench 40–60 cm wide. If you and your family members do not have problems with excess weight, then you can make benches of this width. Well, if this is not the case, then it is better to add a few centimeters to the proposed width.
  4. Different configurations. If you have a hexagonal gazebo, then the best option for its arrangement there will be a hexagonal or octagonal table. Another option is to make the table round. In a rectangular gazebo it is better to install a rectangular or oval table. That is, the configuration of the table should correspond as much as possible to the shape of the gazebo.

A table is an essential item in a gazebo. Of course, you can buy a plastic table, which is low cost, but it is much more pleasant to make this design yourself. You can make furniture High Quality, By affordable price and according to the design you like.

Before making a table/chairs for the gazebo, you should purchase the appropriate Construction Materials. The easiest way is to take a large log, cut it in half horizontally, process it with a plane and place it on the appropriate leg. But this solution may not be practical. Therefore, we suggest you build a table from boards and beams. The result is a strong and stable structure.

It is important to do all measurements and preparation of parts very carefully. It is better to make a table from expensive quality wood. Before you start purchasing and slicing wooden elements, draw a drawing of the table on paper. Put dimensions on it, which will allow you to calculate the amount of material with maximum accuracy.

First make the tabletop. Alternatively, assemble it from boards or use a ready-made furniture board. Optimal size boards for making countertops – 75×25 mm. To prevent the tabletop from loosening, attach several guide bars to it on the back side. The easiest way to secure them is with self-tapping screws.

If you position the guides diagonally, you will be able to make drawer. You can store various little things in it.

So, to make a box under the tabletop in the middle of the long edge of the table, fasten 2 beams with a cross-section of 50x50 mm. The distance between the bars should be 30 cm. C inside fix 2 strips of beams. These will serve as drawer guides. It's time to make a box of the appropriate width, that is, equal to 30 cm. Stuff the same 2 strips on the sides of the box and strips corresponding to its width in the front and back. Place the drawer under the countertop.

If the table is mobile, then all you need to complete its construction is to install 4 durable legs. But, in cases where the table is built-in, a foundation must be installed in advance to install it. It can be concrete or brick. A simpler solution is to make stable, strong legs, dig them in and concrete them.

The table frame should be 15–30 cm smaller than the tabletop. This should be taken into account when installing the legs.

If massive beams were chosen as legs for the built-in table, then before installing them in the recesses, the wood should be treated with a special protective compound against rotting. Then install them, check verticality, fix and fill the solution. To make the table stable, you need to wait a few days until the concrete hardens.

Optimal height table - 75–80 cm. This means that the height of the legs depends on the thickness of the tabletop.

Before screwing the screws and installing the mounting corners, lubricate the fastening points with an adhesive, for example, PVA with fine sawdust.

Next you need to attach the tabletop to the legs. Sand the table and apply an antiseptic to it, and then a fire retardant. After the table has dried, you can open it with varnish or paint it. Apply paintwork in several layers. The structure is ready.

The gazebo can be equipped not only with benches, but also with chairs or sofas. You can make any of the listed seating products from leftovers after construction. For example, you can build a seat and back from the remains of wood, and the support of a chair/bench from stone.

Benches can be installed on both sides of the tabletop. In this case, they must match the length of the table. They can also be installed around the perimeter, so that all vacationers can see each other during communication.

For convenience, the table can be made folding or not installed at all. So, to make a bench without a back you will need:

This simple bench can be made in just a few hours. To make it, you just need to connect the wooden seat with the legs. The principle of operation here is the same as when making a table with timber legs.

To make a wooden folding chair you will need:

  • screwdriver/drill;
  • plane;
  • jigsaw;
  • chisel;
  • sander;
  • groove cutters;
  • drills for making holes of various diameters;
  • wood screws with a length of 7 cm and a diameter of 8–10 mm;
  • varnish/paint.

Beam with a section of 25×40:

  • for a long leg – 91 cm long, 2 pcs.;
  • for a short leg – length 55.7 cm, 2 pcs.;
  • for sitting – length 31.5 cm, 2 pcs.;
  • length 34 cm, 6 pcs.;
  • for the back – 42 cm long, 1 pc.;
  • for jumper – 34 cm, 1 pc.

Jumper with a diameter of 18 mm, a length of 34 cm – 3 pcs.

  • card loop for attaching to the back leg of the chair and the bottom of the seat – 2 pcs.;
  • bolts Ø=8 mm, length 70 mm – 2 pcs.;
  • washers for Ø=8 mm – 6 pcs.;
  • furniture dowels Ø=10 mm, length 50 mm – 2 pcs.;
  • cap nuts – 4 pcs.;
  • waterproof glue for working with wood;
  • pin Ø=8 mm, length 470 mm with double-sided thread.

First of all, make an action plan and draw a drawing. Cut out the blanks according to the dimensions. You need to drill holes in them and make grooves with a milling cutter. Assemble the connections in this order:

  1. On the support block, insert the slats into the groove with a tenon.
  2. Glue the parts together.
  3. Insert furniture dowels into the holes at the ends of the seat, which are 30 mm deep.

The next step is to assemble the chair frame:

  • You need to attach the backrest to the posts with glue, and a cross member on their bottom side.
  • The seat dowels should be inserted into the guide grooves on the legs.
  • Install the stud under the seat by screwing M8 cap nuts onto it on both sides.
  • Glue cross members into the back leg.
  • Bolt the front and back legs together to create a folding chair.
  • Now you need to screw the seat to the rear legs. This can be done using ombre loops.

Finally, the chair or chairs, if you have collected several, should be painted with protective agents.

The technology for making a folding chair was given above and, perhaps, not everyone can master it. And it takes time to make several of these folding chairs will take a lot. So now we'll look at more simple methods manufacturing furniture for gazebos.

One way is to use saw cuts big trees. You need to cut the trunk on both sides to secure the wooden bench. On two large saw cuts you can install a massive tabletop, which is also easy to make. Connecting the tabletop to the base is very simple. Next, you will need to process the wood and install the entire structure in the gazebo. The photo shows how simple this design is.

If you need less massive benches, then saw the trunk lengthwise into 2 parts. Make recesses in it on the bottom side for installation on cuts of a smaller diameter. Place the trunk on the “legs” in the gazebo and process the wood.

Do you only have hemp at your disposal? Don’t be upset, your original gazebo can be decorated with furniture made from them. Small stumps will be used as chairs, and a large stump will be used for the base of the table. The photo shows a tabletop in the form of a large saw cut, but if you don’t find one, then it can be made from a wooden panel, cut, for example, into a round shape.

A built-in table in a gazebo can be built from bricks that you may have left over after construction. This design will serve you faithfully for many years.

To make this table you need to follow step by step instructions:

  • First of all, strengthen the base for installing the table. Dig a small hole, fill the bottom with crushed stone and level it. Lay it on him waterproofing layer. Then fill the base with concrete.
  • Now make a square table base. Dimensions: 2–3 bricks in length and 6–8 in height.
  • Place the tabletop on this base. It could be wooden shield or a stone blank. It all depends on your financial capabilities.

Simple wooden table It will not take you much time to make, but will last a long time. Its approximate dimensions are shown in the photo.

Manufacturing sequence:

  • Make a drawing. Prepare tools/materials.
  • Supports may have different shapes, but, as a rule, X-shaped legs are used. To make them, fasten 2 bars together in the center at an angle of 45º. For reliability, they should be reinforced on top with additional strips.
  • The X-shaped legs should be connected by two bars, which are installed parallel to each other and correspond to the length of the table.
  • The tabletop can be made from 5–7 boards. Install it on the prepared supports. Use furniture corners as fasteners.

Upon completion of all work, treat the table with paints and varnishes.

This article describes different methods manufacturing garden furniture, which can be used to arrange a gazebo. One of the options will be suitable for you. Perhaps you have already done this kind of work? What material did you use to make the furniture for the gazebo? What materials and furniture drawings would you recommend to our readers? Your recommendations can be very useful. Share your experience in the comments to the article.

The diagrams we offer will help you make furniture for a gazebo with your own hands:

Do you want to design a chair, but find it difficult to determine the dimensions and angles that guarantee maximum comfort? Get to know the basic principles that have become the norm in furniture production. Let's say you want to make a chair for an adult who is 178 cm tall and sits upright.

To make it easier to visualize the design process, we have designated the main dimensions and angles for the seat, backrest and armrests with letter indices shown in the figures. Now let's try to apply them to a chair that looks right and is as comfortable as possible.

Seat comes first

A. To ensure that the seated person's knees are comfortably bent at a 90-100" angle and their feet rest on the floor, position the seat at a height of 405-455 mm above the floor. Determining the height for soft seat with a stuffed cushion, consider its compressed thickness by subtracting half the thickness of the cushion from the total height of the seat above the floor.

B. To ensure clearance between the front edge of the seat and the legs of the seated person, make the seat 380-450 mm deep.

C. Choose seat width 8 within 405-510 mm. Depending on style and your preferences, the seat can taper from front to rear by 50-76mm (25-38mm on each side). The wide front edge gives freedom to the sitter's legs, while the narrower back gives more freedom to the sitter's elbows.

For additional comfort, especially if the seat does not have a soft padding, tilt it towards the backrest by 5-8°.

This also prevents you from sliding forward.

An office or work chair does not need a rear seat tilt - a horizontal seat is more convenient for leaning forward towards the desktop.

Now the back

E. To provide support for the back without restricting the shoulder blades, make the backrest 305-405 mm high for spare (for guests) chairs and 500-510 mm for regular ones.

F. Backrest tilt is about 5° for regular chairs and up to 1 5° for spare chairs. Please note that as the backrest angle increases, the seat angle must also be increased (the angle between the backrest and the seat should be within 90-100°) to prevent

And finally, the armrests

H. To ensure that your forearms rest on the armrests without raising your shoulders, place the armrests at a height of 180-230 mm above the seat. But first, measure the distance from the floor to the bottom edge of the dining table drawer so that the chair with armrests can be freely pushed under the table.
I, J and K. Make the armrests at least 200 mm long and 50 mm wide with a distance of about 480 mm between them.

Picnic table (drawing, description)

In the beginning there was a drawing of the simplest wooden bench for the dacha. They used it and produced the product. After implementing the project and analyzing design errors based on personal experience conclusions emerged. Thus, it was decided to simplify the project as much as possible: reduce material consumption and increase the stability of the structure. All this is reflected in the drawing garden bench, presented below.

In this bench there are no longitudinal sides, the rear legs and the base of the backrest are made of separate bars, and the connections of the side posts with the crossbars are made of half wood to increase the resistance to loosening of the fasteners.

Materials

Bench base: legs, transverse drawers are made of 50x50 bars. For the back and seat, a 25x150 board is used, although you can use a board of any width that is available. DIY wooden bench has the following overall dimensions:

  • width – 1820 mm,
  • height – 860 mm,
  • depth – 700 mm.

Wood screws are used for fastening, however, if your budget allows, you can also use furniture bolts. This, of course, will complicate the assembly process somewhat, since you will have to pre-drill and drill holes for bolts and nuts. But the final look will be more “brutal”.

Build process

The sequence of work is as follows: first, the side base posts are assembled, then the seat and back are covered.

Relaxing on a handmade bench with a backrest

For convenience, armrests are cut out from scrap boards and secured, after which the almost finished garden bench is painted and installed in a permanent place.

Racks

First of all, blanks are cut from the prepared block to the following dimensions.

An angle of 30 degrees was chosen for the backrest, so both ends of the rear legs, the lower ends of the base of the backrest and seat are sawn at this angle.

In order to wooden bench for the garden has not become loose over time; the legs and the upper crossbar are connected to form half a tree.

Back and seat

They are stuffed end-to-end with 25x150 boards.

But, as mentioned above, you can use a board of any width and lay it with equal gaps if the wooden bench is located in the open air. Butt packing can also be done. In this case, it is better to use the bench under homemade canopy, in a gazebo or on a covered terrace.

Painting

The color and type of paint is chosen, naturally, according to desire and needs. The only condition: the paint must be for exterior use. Their choice is large, from alkyd and acrylic to classic oil ones. Protective and decorative impregnations are very popular, as they not only protect the wood from rotting, but also paint it in colors that imitate valuable species.

There are the most different variants and modifications of benches and benches. Nevertheless general principles The seating arrangements in the garden are the same.

Firstly, the bench must be protected from direct sun rays, especially at midday. And an openwork shadow from trees is preferable to a solid shadow from a house. If possible, this area is fenced off from the prevailing and cold northern winds with elements vertical gardening. Any options for constructing “green” walls are suitable for this - both hedges and trellis landscaping.

If there is a danger of seasonal or periodic moisture on the site chosen for the bench, the ground should be pre-prepared. To do this, a drainage base is laid under the site from a layer of broken brick or crushed stone, on top of which a coating of bulk materials (sand, gravel, river pebbles) or paving is installed. Excess water can be drained by creating a slight overall slope so that it falls into the drainage groove.

A person feels more comfortable if the space behind him is filled with something. Therefore, it is better to turn the bench with its back to the wall of the house or place high seating behind it.

In this case, the space in front of the bench should be enough to freely place a baby stroller or a small table.

Benches can be placed in a secluded place, or, on the contrary, they can be installed where its most attractive corners are clearly visible. The appearance of the bench itself largely depends on where you intend to place it: near a pond, near a fire, near the house or near an ornamental garden. However, design intent must always be combined with practicality. Therefore, the main criterion when constructing a bench is the ease of use;

There are two types of benches - with a supporting back, intended for long-term rest, and without a back - for short-term rest. The optimal seat height is 40-50 cm. At this height, your legs rest comfortably on the ground and rest. The width of the seat should be 50-55 cm. In order for the back of the bench to comfortably support the body, it is better to make the seat with a slight (5-12°) inclination inward. The back itself should have an inclination of 15 to 40°. The longitudinal slats of the backrest are attached at a height of 16-18 cm from the seat, since the curvature of the spine begins at this level. The height of the entire backrest is 35-45 cm. The armrests are installed at a height of 15-20 cm from the seat. The height of the bench without a back, as well as its width, is 40-50 cm.

For garden furniture, it is preferable to use hardwood: aspen, oak, beech. Coniferous wood is also used, but it must be thoroughly deresined, otherwise the released resin will stain clothes. Degumming is carried out with a solution of acetone in water (1:4 by weight). To increase efficiency, caustic soda (caustic soda) can be added to pure acetone in a ratio of 20:4, respectively. The surface of the wood is washed with the solution several times, preferably with a brush, and then washed off several times with clean water.

A paste-like de-tarring composition is also used, consisting of soda ash and potash, taken in a ratio of 6:5 (by weight). Water is added until creamy. Cover the surface with this composition 2-3 times, each time washing it off with warm water and wiping the surface with a brush.

DIY bench - the simplest design

It would not be an exaggeration to say that a garden bench is very necessary thing on summer cottage. If you install a bench in the shade, it will be pleasant to relax on it in the summer in hot weather. And in the evening, sitting on it and watching the sunset is no less pleasant.

The question of purchasing a garden bench arose quite often for the reasons stated above, but the implementation was delayed for a long time due to the fact that it was difficult to choose suitable option. Either I was not satisfied with the price or quality, or there were problems with transportation. Therefore, in the end I decided to make a bench with my own hands.

Fig.1. Photo of the finished bench

Having asked the question of how to make a garden bench, a number of fundamental requirements were identified that it must satisfy.

  • The bench should be made of available materials, which are not difficult to bring to the dacha.
  • The bench should be comfortable.
  • The design of the bench should be such that you can make it yourself without the use of special tools.
  • The bench must withstand street conditions well, i.e. she should stand completely summer season in the open air and not lose your appearance and functional qualities.

Based on the described requirements, the project of the garden bench shown in the photo above was born. Bench material is wood. When making a wooden bench, no special tools are required. To protect against external adverse factors, the bench is varnished. So most initial requirements it satisfies.

In my opinion, the most difficult and interesting thing about making a bench with your own hands is the design and ergonomics. The main ergonomic factors that you should pay attention to are the height of the bench, the width of the seat, the angle of the backrest, the width of the backrest and the length of the bench. It depends on these parameters whether the bench will be convenient to use or not.

Fig.3. Bench drawing

All dimensions in the drawing are given in centimeters, only the angle of the backrest and the overall height are not indicated, more on that later. First I would like to comment on some dimensions.

  • The length of the bench is chosen so that three people can comfortably fit on it. If you purchase boards standard size 6m, then it will take two boards to make a bench, and there will be practically no scraps left. In addition, boards 1.5 m long can be easily transported in a passenger car.
  • The thickness of the board was chosen to be 40mm, which ensures the rigidity of the bench structure.
  • The gaps between the boards on the back and on the seat are necessary so that water does not linger on the bench, because... the bench is in the open air. As a result, taking into account the width of the board and the gaps, it turns out that the seat width is 40 cm, which is enough for an adult to sit comfortably.
  • The backrest angle is about 18 degrees. How to make such a tilt will be described below.

Now I would like to say a few words about the design of the garden bench. As can be seen from the drawing and photo, the bench has four legs. In this case, the rear legs serve as a backrest holder. To give rigidity, the legs are connected to each other.

Fig.4. Frame elements

The work of making a bench begins with sawing the boards to the required size.

  • 2 boards 520mm long. Next, these boards are cut to length, resulting in 4 bars. These bars are necessary for connecting the legs and securing the seat. Also on these bars it is removed outside corner so as not to catch your feet on it.
  • 2 boards 720 mm long. A cut is made on these boards. They will act as a backrest and leg holder at the same time. The dimensions are shown in the drawing below.

Fig.5. Drawing of a bench side view

All these dimensions are indicated taking into account the fact that the final width of the board after planing, etc. processing is 140mm.

After all the boards are cut, you need to cut them off to get rid of burrs. It is also advisable to chamfer so that the edges are smooth. After which you can begin assembling the garden bench.

First the legs are assembled. The legs are connected to each other using transverse screws. Then the seat and back boards are attached to the resulting legs. These boards are also fastened with self-tapping screws. In order to hide the fasteners, the fastening must be done from the reverse side.

If the screws are not long enough, you can pre-drill a hole with a diameter larger than the screw head.

The final stage of assembling the bench is the installation of the lower crossbar, which fastens the legs together.

After the bench is assembled, it can be varnished to protect it from moisture using yacht varnish. Or treat it with anti-rot impregnation like a children's sandbox. Of course, varnishing looks much better, but it has one significant drawback: the bench becomes cold to the touch.

Also, if you simply varnish the bench, it will be rough. In order for the bench to be smooth, you must first cover it with one layer of varnish and wait until it dries. Then sandpaper treat any rough spots that appear, then cover with two more layers of varnish. Then the bench will be smooth. In the photo the bench is in its fourth year.

A design such as a bench is considered the most comfortable and accessible. It can be purchased at a low price or you can make it yourself without any difficulty. However, in both the first and second cases, you need to know the ideal parameters so that it provides you with comfort. In this article we will figure out what basic principles help set standards and how to take them into account when designing.

Required bench dimensions for a comfortable seat

Let's start, perhaps, with determining the depth. In this aspect, it is important to provide a small gap, which will be formed from the distance between the border of the bench and the part of the legs of the person sitting on it. To do this, it is recommended to adhere to measurements equal to about 400 millimeters (+-25). To achieve the ideal width, it is advisable to be guided by your preferences. However, the most commonly used dimensions are 410–510 mm. In addition, you can use your imagination and make, for example, a narrowing towards the back side. This will allow users to freely place not only their legs, but also their elbows. If in use there is upholstered furniture-pillow, then a slight tilt in the construction of the structure is possible. Its value should be from 5 to 8 degrees.

Bench height

As for the named parameter, it is the relationship between its location and the condition for comfortable sitting of people. First, let's consider the second point: for a winning pose, it is necessary that the person's knees are at an angle of 90 to 100 degrees.

Moreover, his feet should be close to the surface. To do this, the bench must be placed so that the distance from the floor to the product is approximately 405–455 millimeters. If the structure is used with padding material, such as a pillow, additional comfort should be taken into account. In such a situation, when determining the height, you need to pay attention to the thickness, namely, in a compressed form. This indicator should be subtracted from the total elevation. Articles By
