Dimensions of a metal door frame. Metal boxes Door metal frame of the entrance door

We usually pay the main attention to the canvas, its strength, finish, reliability of locking mechanisms. Meanwhile, there is an element in this system that is no less important - this is a box. There are several versions of the box for iron door blocks, and each of them may be more preferable in certain conditions. Buy doors to order, then you can choose from several configurations of boxes, and the doors will fit perfectly into the opening. How they work and how they differ - let's talk further.

If you are still undecided, check out our offers

The door frame is a power profiled frame on which a movable leaf is hung, and through which the door block is fastened in the opening. The resistance of the door to breaking, its durability and insulating characteristics depend on the reliability, stable geometry of the frame. This frame in most cases is closed, that is, at the bottom the vertical posts are connected by a threshold, which is an integral part of the structure. It is extremely rare, only in special cases, boxes are made in U-shaped, without thresholds. One of the vertical posts is a carrier, it has from two to four loops, it is also called a "loop". It also has receiving holes for anti-removable pins (“anti-cuts”). The opposite post is sometimes called a lock post, it has holes for the crossbars of the locks, as well as for the locking elements of the crab mechanisms. The top bar and threshold can also be used in multi-point closing. On both racks, mounting plates are pre-welded, as a rule, there are three of them on each side; in some designs, holes for the anchor are drilled in the body of the box.

Very important element boxes for steel doors it is necessary to consider the porch. In fact, this is a shelf ("quarter"), which serves to install the seal (sometimes the seal is fixed to the canvas) and provide design insulation characteristics (heat, sound, smell, dust, insects ...). The narthex is maintained along the entire perimeter of the “web/box” junction, including along the horizontal elements. Depending on how many adjoining shelves are available, there are boxes with one, two or even three sealing circuits. In some doors (technical, temporary ...) insulation is not particularly needed - here you can use doors without porches, that is, with a box from the corner.

In the vast majority of cases, an integral part of the door frame is the platband, made in the form of a steel strip with a width of 50 mm or more, with or without a flanging along the edge. It serves to visually overlap mounting seams and eliminate the possibility of intruders' access to the fasteners, including preventing the crowbar from getting behind the racks of the box. In bent profile boxes, the platband is made up of two sheets of metal. Doors that are not installed flush with the opening, but inside it, do not have a casing. When implementing the finish of a metal door, the platbands are usually sheathed with similar sheet materials, or colored.

A steel door frame is made from cold-rolled rolled metal with a thickness of 2-5 mm. This rolled metal, of course, is profiled - having stiffeners. Most widespread received boxes from the corner, profile pipe, channel, bent sheet.

A box from a corner (with a shelf of 50, 63 mm) lies close to the edge of the opening and takes up very little useful place- that is, we get the widest possible free passage. For this reason this design indispensable for narrow openings. Crimping double boxes are also made from the corner (the corners cover both corners of the opening and are connected by stripes), which are good if the walls have a weak bearing capacity. The disadvantage of boxes from the corner can be considered the weak insulating properties of the finished door block, since the porch is either absent altogether, or it is alone. IN residential buildings and apartments corner design is used extremely rarely, but in utility rooms- vice versa. An undoubted advantage of the corner frames will be the fact that the corner has a solid thickness (about 5 mm) of the shelves and perfectly holds the crossbars of the locking mechanisms during a force break-in, and is less deformed when trying to wring out.

Boxes from a profile rectangular pipe with a wall thickness of 2 mm are considered the most common. In this case, the main material is a closed profile with a section of 40X25, 40X40, 60X40 mm. Boxes are rarely made from single pipes, as a rule, a combination of pipes of different cross-sections is used, which are welded together at a right angle throughout. Such spatial structures allow you to create several sealing contours, however, it should be noted that they somewhat hide the width of the opening.

Boxes from a bent profile show good results in terms of sound and heat insulation. The door leaf in them can be recessed flush, and the number of porches can reach three. Fundamentally, closed and open bent boxes are distinguished. The former are welded from two mutually complementary parts and have good rigidity. The second ones have a section similar to the letter “P”, the Israelis offer to fill them with concrete on their metal doors after installation, tying them with reinforcement with the wall array. Open boxes are also often reinforced with various strips to add dimensional stability to the system. Some Italian manufacturers make two-piece boxes: first, a mounting element is fixed in the opening with anchors, and then a finishing box is fixed to it (with wide correction options) with hidden screws.

Bent boxes with a continuous anti-removal are distinguished by a special configuration. The highlight is that the hinge post approximately in the middle has a groove for the entire height of the door. In turn, on the door leaf there is a 10 mm thick bend, which in the closed position enters the frame groove. When cutting the loops, the canvas cannot be removed from the box. Such doors are made for both external and internal opening, they have 2 sealing circuits.

All details of the boxes, regardless of the design, are painted in the same color as the ends of the doors. Sometimes a powder spray method is used for this, if it is used to finish the canvas. To improve thermal insulation properties of the finished door block, the cavities of the box are filled mineral wool or blown out with polyurethane foam. Summing up, we note that it cannot be argued that some specific box designs are better than others. If the door assembly technology is observed, and for all building regulations the installation of the product is underway - there will be no problems. But for this you should turn to professionals.

The door frame is a fixed part of a steel door, directly to which through door hinges the door leaf is attached. Door frames are made like frame structures installed to the walls of the doorway. The most common type of door frames for steel doors are rectangular frames. The door frame can accommodate special grooves for additional elements, as well as the installation of trim. Platbands are used to hide the gaps that remain between the wall and the door frame after installing the entrance. In order to improve sound insulation for a steel door, it is possible to install a special seal on door frame.

There are several options for making door frames for steel doors. The most inexpensive option is considered if the door frame is made of metal corners welded into a frame. This door frame is installed on doorway. Also, the door frame can be made from a channel. These two types of steel door frames do not stand out for their great aesthetic beauty. But such a door frame, so to speak, is cheap, reliable and at the same time practical. And in general, such boxes are easy to hide with the help of the same platbands.

Door frames that are made of cold-rolled steel sheets up to 2 mm thick look much neater and more beautiful. The vertical and horizontal posts of these door frames are different configuration bent profiles. The door frame and platband under these conditions are created as a whole.

To protect the space inside the room from moisture and dust, as well as noise and draft, a special rubber seal is installed around the door frame. The second contour of the tubular rubber seal can be installed in a circle door leaf in a bent anti-vandal porch. The profile shapes of the horizontal and vertical posts of these door frames can be made from solid steel pipe rectangular or square section, a solid steel pipe welded with an external cashing, a one-piece steel profile with an internal flashing and an external quarter for a seal, etc.

Door frames are installed in pre-prepared doorways using iron pins or anchor bolts, which are attached to the walls of the opening with the help of technological holes specially provided in the door frames. Basically, these are simple metal plates, one end of which is firmly welded to the door frame, and on the other there is a special hole for anchor bolts or mounting pins. In this case, the attachment points of the door frame are moved much closer to the center of the width of the wall of the doorway, as a result of which the strength and reliability of the entire structure and its resistance to burglary are significantly increased.

Specially designed universal metal frame for wooden (interior) doors. Wooden doors with a metal frame "Medprof-M" combine in themselves. The practicality of metal and the aesthetics of wood. Moreover. Such doors have a more serious, modern, expensive design.

Our metal box is installed in the opening virtually forever. Metal carcass made under the standard size of the canvas, the usual universal loops are applied to it. Modern technologies allow you to create metal entrance doors of various shapes, sizes and protective characteristics. Steel is one of the most popular materials for the range iron models. It guarantees strength, rigidity of the structure, but requires exact correspondence between the parameters of the leaf and the box, the box and the doorway.

In the first case, in order to eliminate errors during installation, to avoid inconvenience in operation, manufacturers take responsibility for producing the entire set. It includes:

    a box from a corner of a closed rectangular or U-shaped(threshold ready or made separately), its components: crossbar, guides;

    door leaf made of steel sheets soldered together;

    amplifiers - "stiffening ribs": longitudinal, transverse or V forms (sometimes a combination of them), increasing the strength of the web and preventing deformation of its surface;

    inner lining;

    external facade finishing made of various decorative materials;

    a sealant located between the canvas and the skin to increase thermal protection;

    fastening systems - hinges: open, hidden, equipped with anti-burglary systems;

    platbands;

    additional elements: locks, latches, peephole, handles, seals.

The correct ratio of the dimensions of the box and the opening can only be guaranteed by well-conducted measurements, as well as further careful selection of the design. Perform measurements can be as representatives specialized company as well as the client himself. For this, it is necessary to study existing regulations. All linear values of entrance doors are interconnected, determined by SNIPs and GOSTs, under which the sizes of non-standard models are often adjusted.

What sizes are in Russia?

The linear dimensions of the inlet block structure are affected by technical requirements for the operation of the premises. Therefore, street doors in country house will always be wider than in an apartment. Openings facing landings and vestibules should not be narrower than the width of the flight of stairs. This is convenient for moving large furniture, evacuation during emergencies.

The dimensions of the input iron blocks that meet the fire safety requirements of SNiP 210197:

  • height - not less than 1900 mm;
  • width for residential buildings - from 800 mm, for public (more than 15 people) - from 1200 mm.

The main parameters of the standard dimensions of the block of entrance metal doors are within the limits (in mm):

    according to the height of the box - from 2070 to 2370.

    According to the width of the door or light opening for the living space:

    For single-leaf - from 800 to 1000,

    For one and a half - from 1300 to 1500,

    For bivalves - from 1910 to 1950,

  • According to the thickness of the block (door with a frame):

    At brick wall 75 mm - 108;

    With standard wooden beam- no more than 120,

    IN panel houses – 120-130.

IN normative documents threshold height for front door for the home - from 20 to 45 mm. Higher in residential buildings is not allowed: during a fire, it will be problematic for people with disabilities to leave the house.

Compliance with standards guarantees the strength, convenience, durability of metal products.

Options for ready-made solutions for door blocks:

  1. For single doors (in mm) - 1980x850, 2030x860, 2050x880, 2050x960, 2070x900, 2100x950, 2100x1000. Blocks small size can be used in extensions. The optimal combination of the size of the entrance metal doors and the box is 2500x900.
  2. For double doors (in mm) - 2050x1300, 2100x1400, 2100x1500, 2100x1600. With a height of 2000-2300 width standard (in mm):
  • 1200 (600 and 600);
  • 1600 (800 and 800);
  • 1800 (900 and 900).

Thickness and weight of a metal door

In Russia, the door leaf comes in two varieties - from welded sheets fixed to the frame, and solid, more durable.

The final thickness of the working surface of the product depends on the number of interconnected steel sheets, corresponds to:

Thicker canvases are used for fireproof, bulletproof models, but they do not provide for frequent opening or closing.

Thin canvases are used if a vestibule is provided in the house.

In all other cases, the standard thickness of the entire door is:

  • for conventional models - from 60 to 80 mm;
  • for reinforced - from 80 to 100 mm.

The final value is formed by additional elements designs:

  1. Insulation chambers. It is necessary for residential buildings, after all, up to 25% of heat is lost through an ordinary door. Depending on the material used by the manufacturer and the number of its layers, the parameters of the required internal space are formed.
  2. Sealing circuit. It is used for better tightness, which helps to retain heat and prevent odors from the entrance. Depending on the thickness of the iron doors, 2 or 3 circuits are installed. The design with three sealing circuits corresponds to a door thickness of 80 mm.

Sometimes you have to make a choice between the level of protection and the beauty of the door: any reinforcement, additional finishing entail an increase in its weight, which should not exceed 250 kg. The limiting values of the thickness of the canvas of ordinary and all reinforced models already weigh more than 200 kg.

To reduce the load on the box, to prevent deformation of the web, these models are mounted not on two, but on three or four loops.

Non-standard doors

Non-standard doors include doors that do not match in shape, thickness, height, decorative solution(glass inserts) and the number of amplifications with average values of the norm. The permissible parameters of such models are fixed by separate articles of GOSTs and SNIPs.

    Blocks with side and top transoms made to order. The width of their working passage corresponds to a single or double door, steel reinforcement the central structure starts 120 mm from the edge of the opening. Typical dimensions single leaf arched door- 2000x800 mm.

    One and a half doors- the narrow sash closes with a latch and opens as needed. With a height of 2000 or 2300 mm, the width is (in mm):

  1. 1200 (400 - stationary sash, 800 - working canvas or 300 and 900);
  2. 1400 (600 and 800 or 500 and 900).

  • Atypical doors also include fire and armored doors:
  1. Fire-fighting thickness - 70 mm, armored - 100-120 mm;
  2. Dimensions (in mm) - 1200x1900, 1200x2050, 2500x2500.

Non-standard entrance openings apartment buildings must be approved by the BTI. The decision will largely depend on the thickness of the walls of the house, on which floor the redevelopment is planned. In a private building, where we can talk about load-bearing structures at home, you will need to order a project in a specialized organization.

Independent actions without permits will lead to seizure of real estate, an administrative fine.

Metal-plastic and aluminum doors

Today under common name Iron door hides several views, including multi-camera models. These include:

  1. metal-plastic- has a strong protection system, fairly light in weight, is available with double-glazed windows of different sizes and volumes. When strengthening the profile, such doors are installed in "thermos houses".
  2. Aluminum- the lightest of all metal, with or without double-glazed windows. Thermal protection is high, increased wear resistance. 7 times stronger than wood, 2 times stronger than metal-plastic products.

Complicated calculations of the box and canvas are not made, the technologies allow the production of blocks of any size and immediately in the kit. They differ from steel structures only in thickness - 95-120 mm. The larger the metal profile, the warmer. Due to the lightness of the material, no additional loops are required even at extreme values.

In cottages, entrance blocks are equipped with a push fitting, a lock along the contour, which guarantees a tight fit, and an aluminum threshold of 40 mm. Double-leaf doors can be used with a sash connection.

The selection of the frame to the opening is carried out according to the same principles as for steel entrance doors.

GOST of other countries

European models attract Russian buyers with their design and relative ease of construction. Lighter steel is used for their production. Dimensions comply with DIN regulations, which are guided by the architectural traditions of Europe and are based on the anthropometric data of individual regions. Based on them, people in Finland are taller than in the south of the EU, so the standard entry height for Finns will be higher than in Italy.

There are differences among countries in terms of width. French standard for single leaf doors (in mm): 690, 790, 890, 990. Spanish standard (in mm): 600, 700, 800, 900, 1000.

Imported products require additional costs:

  • when reworking a block, when an imported canvas is installed in a domestic box;
  • when reducing or increasing the entrance opening.

The warranty period for products is much longer than that of Russian ones - up to 10-20 years, but foreign manufacturers in overwhelming cases cannot ensure the fulfillment of obligations outside the European Union.

Furniture companies operating in Russia or for a long time, at least 5 years, trading in the local market take into account discrepancies in standards, offering to eliminate inconvenience already turnkey solutions. Some manufacturers make batches according to Russian standards.

Chinese models in their parameters coincide with domestic GOSTs.

The supplied models have:

  • in height - 2050 mm;
  • in width single-leaf - 860, 960 mm, one-and-a-half - 1200 mm.
  • in different batches of even one manufacturer, the size of door frames can have a significant difference and change from one delivery to another. Trust is caused by joint Russian-Chinese production facilities, where all products are quality tested according to Russian standards.

How to make the correct measurement?

Before taking measurements, it is necessary to dismantle the old doors, including the architraves. If necessary, remove the threshold.

Rigid metal constructions need smooth walls, therefore, with the help of the level, the degree of curvature of the walls is determined. In the case of a large curvature, they are aligned to the standard size of the entrance metal door with a frame, taking into account technical clearances. The same actions are performed with the threshold.

After that, the length, width and depth of the opening are measured with a tape measure. The width and length values are taken from the base of the wall, the results obtained are compared with the reference ones. The clearances are checked.

opening custom sizes customized to the GOST values: expanded with a perforator, grinder or narrowed to the specified values with cement High Quality and align. The deviation of the plane should not exceed 3 mm along the entire length or width.

What else needs to be considered?

There are technical gaps between the opening, the box and the canvas. They are necessary in order to easily carry out the installation of the unit, to ensure the free movement of the door.

When calculating the door block, this free space not taken into account, but its presence is implied:

    The inner perimeter of the box is larger than the outer perimeter of the main door structure (excluding the influx) due to gaps:

    In the upper part - 3-5 mm;

    In the lower part - 6-8 mm;

    In width - from 3 to 6 mm to each side.

Door block height = corner or pipe width (30-35 mm) x 2 + door height + gaps.

Door block width = corner width x 2 + door width + gaps.

  • The entrance opening should be larger than the door frame on each side:

    In height - no more than 5 mm at the narrowest point of the opening,

    Width - 2 mm.

Doors can open both inward and outward. In the second case, it is important to ensure that in the open state they do not block the staircase, electrical panels, did not block the entrance to the apartment of neighbors.

The frame is the backbone of any door that connects it to the doorway. Since a door leaf is installed on the frame, it must have high strength, workmanship and a long service life. Only in this case, you can be sure that the doors will fulfill their purpose and work flawlessly for a long period.

What is a door frame and why is it needed

Both at the entrance to a house or apartment, and indoors, a block is installed in all doorways, the basis of which is a box. This element is a support, and a door leaf is hung on it. Attached to the box are not only door hinges, but also platbands with additional fittings.

The door frame must match the material with the door leaf

The box is made from a material that matches the door itself. It must be massive and resistant to changes in humidity and temperature. This is especially true for doors at the entrance to the house, to the bathroom and to the steam room. For a tighter fit in the frame, it is recommended to install seals.

Rubber seals in the metal door frame do not allow cold and unnecessary odors into the house

The door frame is a connecting link located between the doorway and the leaf. For interior doors it is made in the form of the letter "P".

A wooden door frame without a threshold is closed with cashiers

For entrance doors, a box with a threshold is used. In this case, the doorway is completely framed. Usually a metal door is placed at the entrance to the house.

The metal frame of the front door is usually not closed with platbands, therefore it is made in the same color as the door leaf.

But if the front door is made of wood, then the box is wooden.

The door frame with a threshold closes the gap under the door and makes the leaf tightly fit

A plastic box is also placed with the threshold. For example, for a balcony door.

A plastic door frame with a threshold is always equipped with rubber seals.

Varieties of door frames

Now in hardware stores there is a wide selection of door frames that differ in material, design and complete set of parts.

Box design

The design of the door frame is of four types:

  • angular - is made of timber and surrounds the corner outside the opening with a platband. Used in the design of entrance doors;

    Corner box bends around the corner outside the opening

  • end - mounted directly in the opening, platbands are fixed on the box. It is mainly used for interior doors;

    The end box is mounted directly in the opening

  • telescopic - a special L-shaped casing. This box covers the entire opening from three sides. Can be installed on any door

    The telescopic box covers the opening on both sides

  • hidden - used in offices or entertainment venues. This is an ordinary frame, but without platbands, extensions and a threshold. The box is painted over to match the walls, it is almost invisible.

    Hidden door frame painted to match the walls

Applicable material

To frame the opening, a box beam is used, which is made of different materials.

If the doors are plastic, aluminum or iron, then it is clear that a wooden box will not work, so it is made of the same material as the door leaf.

For wooden interior doors, the box is made of the following materials:

  • solid wood is the most expensive option, especially when using exotic woods. For the manufacture of expensive doors, oak, ash, cherry, walnut, eucalyptus, beech are taken. A budget option- pine. When creating wood products, the problem is the presence of knots and other defects in it. If you decide to make a box from an array yourself, choose only high-quality timber;

    Natural timber is the most expensive material

  • glued laminated timber - at the enterprise, wood is dissolved on small items, all natural defects are removed, after which the prepared parts are glued and spliced. It turns out a high-quality and durable timber;

    Glued laminated timber has a high resistance to high humidity

  • MDF and HDF - fibreboard, refer to composite materials consisting of sawdust, chips and wood flour. MDF is processed in the same way as natural wood;

    MDF timber is used to create interior door frames

  • layered composites - consist of two or more types of raw materials mixed into a common mass or connected in layers. After manufacturing, such a beam is lined with artificial veneer, imitating appearance natural wood. As a layer, MDF, plywood or inexpensive wood is placed. This material has high strength. In terms of cost, eco-veneer lumber costs about the same as MDF lumber, and more expensive than unpainted pine lumber. Its advantage: no need to perform finishing. Eco-veneer makes the beam look beautiful and reliably protects it from mechanical damage.

    Due to the multilayer structure, layered composites have high strength

Complete set (additional elements)

There are also differences in door frames in terms of configuration. She may be:

Boxes also differ in the presence of a seal. It is installed along the perimeter of the box, which improves the insulating characteristics of the structure. In addition, the seal has shock-absorbing properties, so the service life of such a door increases. IN expensive models seal is already installed in the box. It is not available in cheaper options, but you can always install a seal with your own hands.

The presence of a seal improves the insulating characteristics of the structure

Dimensions

Majority doorways have standard sizes, under them you can purchase the appropriate box. When choosing a box, it must be taken into account that it freely enters the opening, that is, it is less in width and height by about 3-4 cm.

Maximum standard width the door frame is 90 cm. It is quite rare, so not all manufacturers produce such products.

Please note that foreign standards differ from ours, so be especially careful when buying such a door frame.

U-shaped boxes have the advantage of being compatible with door leafs of any height, since you can cut the racks to the desired height yourself. And rectangular frames with a threshold are designed for a certain door size.

While creating doorway builders take into account the purpose of the room and its size. For the kitchen, a door leaf measuring 65x200 cm is usually used. For a bathroom and a bathroom - 60x200 cm. Even if the opening in such rooms is wider, most people put doors of the indicated sizes, and cover the missing centimeters between the box and the opening with platbands.

Sometimes it's easier to make a door smaller than it is to put a wider door in a small room.

If there is a threshold for doors to the bathroom and toilet, then its dimensions must be taken into account. For other rooms, a gap of 5-10 mm is left between the canvas and the floor. And for the kitchen, if installed in the house liquefied gas, it is 15–20 mm. The gap between the box and the canvas in its upper part and on the sides should always be 3–4 mm.

The gap between the canvas and the box should be about 3-4 mm

Making a door frame

First you need to remove everything correctly required dimensions, prepare the right tools and materials, and then get to work.

Opening measurements

The height and width of the opening are measured in several places: along the edges and in the middle. Then the smallest value is chosen.

The width of the opening is measured at least in three places

You also need to measure the thickness and diagonal of the opening. If the values of the diagonals are very different, this means that the opening is littered to the side, its corners will no longer be straight. Then you will either have to align the opening itself, or take into account this deviation distance when installing the door frame, substituting bars into the gaps different size. However, in this case, the fastening of the door frame will be short-lived.

When measuring, all irregularities and slopes of the doorway should be taken into account.

Tools and materials

To create a door frame with your own hands you will need:

Self-manufacturing

After preparation, you can proceed to the process of manufacturing the door frame itself:

  1. Cutting material - usually ready-made bars are used, in which there are grooves for the blade to enter. The bars are laid on a horizontal surface so that the grooves are on top. The height of the box is measured. If there is a threshold, its thickness is taken into account. Then the top bar is cut to the desired length. When cutting the material, it is necessary to take into account the way in which the parts of the box will be connected.
  2. Connection of parts - they can be connected in a single design in different ways:
    • grooved: this option is reliable, but very complex;

      Newbie to do groove connection it will be hard
