In such a situation, it was decided not to sand the surface of the skin and not to wash off the old rather light coating from it, but only sweep the walls with a brush from dust, cobwebs and peeling paint. For finishing, they chose the Aquatex-Extra protective coating in the Kaluzhnitsa color - darker than it was before.
The mother-in-law heroically took up the finishing of the utility block, because in her youth she worked for some time as a painter at the factory, but demanded that she buy an airbrush. Before that, we usually managed with a brush and a roller.
But ordered - done. We chose an inexpensive, although not the cheapest model of the Defort DSG-400 spray gun with a built-in fan. The paint is fed into the sprayer nozzle by a powerful air stream created by a fan (as in a hose nozzle for domestic vacuum cleaners).
Therefore, the number of parts of the spray gun that must be thoroughly washed after work is much less than that of a similar tool with piston pump. In our case, the torch at the outlet of the atomizer is formed in the form of an oblong oval rather than a cone. In this case, by turning the bell, you can choose the vertical or horizontal direction of the long axis of the oval of the torch. In one pass, a uniform, fairly thin layer of coating is applied to the surface.
But the work is moving fast. It took less than an hour to paint in one layer of gables and walls - however, five layers of paint had to be applied to make the result opaque. A serious drawback of the composition used for finishing is considerable time exposure before applying the next layer. I had to "catch" the weather without rain and strong wind. But we were quite satisfied with the result.

The powerful (400 W) spray gun turned out to be quite light: together with paint (0.8 l), it weighs less than 2 kg.
The viscosity of the paint was checked using a VZ-4 viscometer. It is measured in seconds.
Filling the viscometer cup with paint to the brim, we measured the time during which it would flow out through the lower hole 0 4 mm. Depending on the type of paint used, the viscosity should be in the range of 18-35 s. We didn't have to thin the paint.

After disassembling and washing the parts of the spray gun, a small amount of solvent was washed into its reservoir and, having assembled the tool, the solvent was sprayed to clean the nozzle.
