Pulsatilla ordinary description. Flower backache ordinary and spring: planting and care. The use of lumbago in folk medicine

We sowed or planted most of the plants in the spring and it seems that in the middle of summer we can already relax. But experienced gardeners know that July is the time of planting vegetables for a late harvest and the possibility of longer storage. This also applies to potatoes. Early summer potato crops are best used quickly, they are not suitable for long-term storage. But the second crop of potatoes is exactly what is needed for winter and spring consumption.

Astrakhan tomatoes ripen remarkably lying on the ground, but you should not repeat this experience in the Moscow region. Our tomatoes need support, support, a garter. My neighbors use all sorts of pegs, garters, loops, ready-made plant supports, and mesh fences. Each method of plant fixation in vertical position has its advantages and "side effects". I'll tell you how I place tomato bushes on trellises, and what comes of it.

Bulgur with pumpkin is a dish for every day, which is easy to prepare in half an hour. Bulgur is boiled separately, the cooking time depends on the size of the grains - whole and coarse grinding for about 20 minutes, fine grinding for just a few minutes, sometimes the cereal is simply poured with boiling water, like couscous. While the cereal is cooking, prepare the pumpkin in sour cream sauce, and then combine the ingredients. If you replace ghee with vegetable oil, and sour cream with soy cream, then it can be included in the lenten menu.

Flies are a sign of unsanitary conditions and carriers of infectious diseases that are dangerous for both humans and animals. People are constantly looking for ways to get rid of nasty insects. In this article, we will talk about the Zlobny TED brand, which specializes in fly protection products and knows a lot about them. The manufacturer has developed a specialized line of drugs to get rid of flying insects anywhere quickly, safely and without extra costs.

The summer months are the time for hydrangeas to bloom. This beautiful deciduous shrub is luxuriously fragrant with flowers from June to September. Florists willingly use large inflorescences for wedding decors and bouquets. To admire the beauty flowering bush hydrangeas in your garden, you should take care of the proper conditions for it. Unfortunately, some hydrangeas do not bloom year after year, despite the care and efforts of gardeners. Why this happens, we will tell in the article.

Every summer resident knows that plants need nitrogen, phosphorus and potassium for full development. These are the three main macronutrients, the deficiency of which significantly affects appearance and yield of plants, and in advanced cases can lead to their death. But at the same time, not everyone understands the importance of other macro- and microelements for plant health. And they are important not only in themselves, but also for the effective absorption of the same nitrogen, phosphorus and potassium.

garden strawberry, or strawberry, as we used to call it - one of the earliest fragrant berries, which summer generously bestows on us. How we rejoice in this harvest! In order for the “berry boom” to repeat every year, we need to take care of caring for berry bushes. The laying of flower buds, from which ovaries will form in spring, and berries in summer, begins approximately 30 days after the end of fruiting.

Spicy Pickled Watermelon - savory snack to fatty meat. Watermelons and watermelon rinds pickled since time immemorial, but this process is laborious and time-consuming. According to my recipe, it’s easy to cook pickled watermelon in 10 minutes, and a spicy snack will be ready by the evening. The watermelon marinated with spices and chili is stored in the refrigerator for several days. Be sure to keep the jar in the refrigerator, not only for the sake of preservation - chilled, this snack is just licking your fingers!

Among the variety of species and hybrids of philodendrons, there are many plants, both gigantic and compact. But not a single species competes in unpretentiousness with the main modest - blushing philodendron. True, his modesty does not concern the appearance of the plant. Reddening stems and cuttings, huge leaves, long shoots, forming, although very large, but also strikingly elegant silhouette, look very elegant. Philodendron blushing requires only one thing - at least minimal care.

Thick Chickpea Soup with Vegetables and Egg is an easy recipe for a hearty first course inspired by Oriental cuisine. Similar thick soups are prepared in India, Morocco, and the countries of Southeast Asia. The tone is set by spices and seasonings - garlic, chili, ginger and a bouquet of spicy spices, which can be assembled to your liking. It is better to fry vegetables and spices in melted butter (ghee) or mix olive oil and butter in a saucepan, this, of course, is not the same, but it tastes similar.

Plum - well, who does not know her ?! She is loved by many gardeners. And all because it has an impressive list of varieties, it surprises excellent harvests, pleases with its diversity in terms of ripening and huge selection color, shape and taste of fruits. Yes, somewhere she feels better, somewhere worse, but almost no summer resident refuses to grow her on her plot. Today it can be found not only in the south, in middle lane, but also in the Urals, in Siberia.

Many decorative and fruit crops, except for drought-resistant ones, suffer from the scorching sun, and conifers in the winter-spring period - from sunlight, enhanced by reflection from snow. In this article, we will talk about unique preparation to protect plants from sunburn and droughts - Sunshet Agrosuccess. The problem is relevant for most regions of Russia. February and early March Sun rays become more active, and the plants are not yet ready for new conditions.

“Each vegetable has its own time”, and each plant has its own optimal time for planting. Anyone who has experienced planting is well aware that the hot season for planting is spring and autumn. This is due to several factors: in spring, the plants have not yet started to grow rapidly, there is no sweltering heat, and precipitation often falls. However, no matter how hard we try, circumstances often develop in such a way that landings have to be carried out at the very height of summer.

Chile con carne translated from Spanish- chili with meat. This is a Texan and Mexican dish whose main ingredients are chili peppers and minced beef. In addition to the main products, there are onions, carrots, tomatoes, and beans. This red lentil chili recipe is delicious! The dish is fiery, burning, very satisfying and amazingly tasty! You can cook a large pot, arrange in containers and freeze - a whole week will be a delicious dinner.

Cucumber is one of my favorites horticultural crops our gardeners. However, not all and not always gardeners manage to get really good harvest. And although growing cucumbers requires regular attention and care, there is a little secret that will significantly increase their yield. It's about about pinching cucumbers. Why, how and when to pinch cucumbers, we will tell in the article. An important point The agricultural technique of cucumbers is their formation, or type of growth.

Fabulous, like a plush backache (“snow tulip” or “sleep-grass” in a different way) once covered all the rocky slopes with a carpet, as soon as the snow melted from them. Now large clusters these flowers can only be found in the gardens of individual flower growers-enthusiasts. Read our article and learn about planting, growing in open field and caring for this beautiful plant. You may also want to have lumbago every year notify you of the arrival of spring in your domain.

Backache: varieties and varieties

All varieties of lumbago are present in the Red Book. The main ones growing in open ground under natural conditions include the following types of lumbago:

Backache landing and care

Pulsatilla is very fond of gardeners and designers, they often use it in landscape design. In order for it to take root well in the garden, it is necessary to grow it in compliance with the rules, plant it correctly, care for it, and feed it in a timely manner.

Planting a plant

If you want to plant a backache in your garden, buy seeds or a seedling, but not with open roots- tender root system He's already injured and he'll never heal. Not every place is suitable for sleep-grass. You need a maximum of light, in extreme cases, a small shadow, no stagnant moisture, the soil is cultivated, loose, with a neutral reaction, nutritious and well-drained. A sloping site would be ideal.

Pulsatilla will grow well in a sunny area.

Backaches planted among stones feel good - in, on, because stones are their natural environment.

plant care

All lumbago are perennial plants. When growing any of their varieties in open ground, care is similar. Required:

  • regular weeding;
  • watering is infrequent for old plants and only in order to prevent severe drying out, and for young plants it is plentiful;
  • mulching - when humus and peat mulch lies on a bed with sleep-grass, it protects the roots from the hot rays of the sun and supplies the soil nutrients.

It is very important to mulch the soil around the plant.

These winter perennials tolerate well, so you do not need to cover them. The exception is the plantings of the first year, which should still be covered with spruce branches for the winter.

Fertilizer and feeding backache

You can also grow backache on nutrient-poor soil, but with fertilizers, the result will be better. Fertilizers in the form of rotted humus are applied in the fall. Sleep-grass is fed in spring and a couple of times in summer, using complex fertilizers containing potassium and phosphorus.

Reproduction of lumbago

Propagated by such perennials as backache by seeds or seedlings. Transplant mature plant unrealistic - its root is long, when digging it will definitely be damaged and the bush will die. Seeds are sown in autumn, the box is taken out into the garden with the onset of winter and hidden under the snow. The best result is given by seeds planted in spring - to obtain seedlings in early spring, and in open ground - in the last spring month.

It is most convenient to grow backache from seeds

Attention: germination of lumbago seeds, under normal conditions, lasts 2-3 years.

To plant seeds in a garden bed, it is first treated with a fungicide, and the seeds themselves are treated with a growth stimulator, then:

  • make shallow furrows;
  • scatter the seeds;
  • sprinkled with a small amount of sand or soil;
  • moisturize;
  • cover with a film, which is periodically lifted for ventilation.

For growing seedlings, the seeds are sown in containers with a substrate in the form of a loose soil mixture. In this case, one should take into account such a feature as an extended germination period - the first sprouts may appear after 2 weeks, and the last ones after a month and a half. All this time, the soil is moderately watered, protected from direct ultraviolet radiation. After the seedlings have 2 leaves, they dive into deep pots with a diameter of 60 to 80 mm. Small plants are systematically watered, maintained, applying a balanced fertilizer every 2 weeks.

Germinate seeds indoors to plant mature seedlings outdoors

If the seedlings turned out to be strong enough, then it can be planted in the garden in August or September. They do it differently:

  • leave seedlings in pots;
  • they dig small trenches at the end of autumn;
  • placed in the recesses of the pots;
  • insulate the sides with soil or peat, and the top with spruce branches.

When breeding common lumbago, you will see its flowers already in the 2nd year, and when growing varieties that live in the mountains, flowering will have to wait several years.

Advice. If the seedlings did not shed the seed coat on their own, help them - sprinkle with water 3 times and soften, carefully remove it with tweezers.

Diseases and pests

Slugs can damage the leaves and stems of plants.

Pulsatilla seedlings often get sick with a black leg. Treating the soil intended for planting seeds with a fungicide helps prevent the disease. Of the pests for sleep-grass, slugs in summer and rodents in winter are dangerous. To combat the former, drugs such as "Slug-eater", "Thunderstorm" are used, the latter are destroyed with the help of poisons:

  • "Tornado";
  • "Testox";
  • "Amus";
  • "Rodentan-B", etc.

Attention! Be careful - be sure to read the instructions that come with poisonous drugs, follow it strictly.

Backache: combination with other plants

Graceful Pasque flowers bloom very early and are combined with other similar plants that bloom in spring:

  • adonis;
  • botanical.

Pasque is one of the first to bloom in the garden

Looks nice combination different varieties sleep-herbs, favorably shade it low shrubs, trees.

Pulsatilla is an excellent plant for creating landscape design. It is present in almost all offered by designers, photo landscaped gardens. The plant is beautiful and in the form of a lonely standing bush, and growing in groups.

Shooting in landscape design

Wanting to settle backache on his suburban area, never dig up a wild plant - it definitely will not take root in you, and you will cause great damage to nature. Plant seeds and a rare crop is sure to brighten up your garden.

The scientific name comes from the Latin pulsare (to sway) and is given for the ability of drooping flowers to sway in the wind. Russian name The plant received the “lumbago”, apparently, for the ability to “shoot” numerous flowers, it is worth the snow to melt and warm the spring sun. Sleep-grass, apparently, was dubbed for drooping, like sleepy flowers.

Rod Backache, or sleep-grass (Pulsatilla), belongs to the Ranunculaceae family and has 54 species growing in the temperate and cold zones of the Northern Hemisphere. A number of species enter the subtropics, but only as plants of high-mountain alpine meadows. In nature, backache lives in meadows, dry open slopes, in light pine forests.

Features of the structure of sleep-grass

Backache - perennial herbs with a powerful vertical or obliquely lying rhizome, which goes to a great depth (up to a meter or more). This feature makes the transplantation of adult specimens almost impossible. For the same reason, sleep-grass cannot be dug up in nature: it will not be possible to extract the roots without significant damage, and the plant won't settle down in the new place.

Backache is much easier to grow from seeds on your own or purchase planting material in a nursery. The leaves of sleep-grass are very decorative, openwork, dissected into many lobes. They are collected in a lush basal rosette, but there are also several sessile leaves on the stem-peduncle, forming a kind of "collar" that surrounds the flower.

Sleep grass is one of the most charming spring plants.

In most species, the leaves, stems, and even the outer surface of the petals are covered with dense, soft, long hairs. The plant seems to be dressed in a cozy warm coat, which, of course, it needs - because it blooms one of the first in the wind-blown northern pine forests or in alpine meadows near the border of snowfields.

bright flowers

Sleep grass flowers are solitary, large, vaguely reminiscent of anemone flowers, with bright petals and numerous yellow or orange pistils and stamens.

Coloring of the corolla different types can be white, yellow, but more often there are various tones purple, from a slightly noticeable haze of haze to dark saturation thundercloud. Backaches easily hybridize with each other, thanks to this feature in recent decades Numerous varieties have been obtained, including terry and even red-flowered ones.

flowering time

Blooms in April-May. The fruits ripen in early summer and are also very decorative. They resemble a fluffy dandelion head (each seed has a long hairy axis), painted in grayish-brown tones, and look great against the backdrop of wonderful lacy foliage that retains a fresh look until autumn.

In decorative floriculture, many types of sleep-grass are used, but most widespread obtained the species mentioned in this article.

TYPES OF PUNCH

ORDINARY PASSAGE

The common lumbago (Pulsatilla vulgaris) is found in nature in Western Europe(except for the southern regions). It has been known in culture since the first half of the 16th century. The plant is 15-30 cm tall, during fruiting the stems can grow up to 40 cm. The flowers are bell-shaped, purple, bloom simultaneously with the appearance of leaves. Blooms in April. Winter-hardy. There are forms and varieties, including those with red-violet, pale pink flowers, as well as terry (Prestbury Strain).

PASSAGE RED

Pasque red (P. rubra) is found in nature in Western Europe (except for the southern regions). The plant is up to 20 cm tall, during fruiting the stems can grow up to 40 cm. The flowers are bell-shaped, dark red, 6-8 cm in diameter, bloom simultaneously with the appearance of leaves. Blooms in April. Winter-hardy. An extremely showy plant with an unusual, rich color of the petals.

PASSION OPEN

Open backache (Pulsatilla patens) has a vast range that covers Europe, the European part of Russia, the south of Western Siberia, China, Mongolia, some regions of Canada and the USA.

The plant is 7-15 cm tall, when fruiting, the stems can grow up to 40-50 cm. The flowers are blue-violet, at first widely bell-shaped, later wide open, star-shaped. Flowering occurs in April-May and lasts up to 3 weeks.

Adult strong specimens can produce up to 40-50 flowers per season.

The view is rather plastic. Can grow in moderately wet to dry soils varying degrees fertility, tolerates short-term waterlogging. Requires good light during flowering.

PUMMY LUGOVOI

Meadow lumbago (Pulsatilla pratensis) is found in Central and Eastern Europe, Scandinavia, Western European Russia.

Plant up to 30 cm tall. It blooms simultaneously with the appearance of leaves, in late April - early May. The flowers are medium-sized, bell-shaped, drooping, purple or brownish. It looks decorative in fruits due to the lush, strongly dissected foliage.

The flowers of this species are small, but very elegant. They hang from gracefully curved pedicels, which end in relatively tall stems, giving the impression of touching and defenseless.

OUR ADVICE

Sleep-grass is a light-loving plant; it is best to place it in areas with light penumbra or completely open. Soils are required fertile, deeply cultivated, well-drained. Backache does not tolerate stagnant moisture.

Before planting in the soil, it is useful to add a little lime and nitrogen fertilizers. Backache responds well to phosphorus-potassium supplements (ash, bone meal), which are carried out several times during the budding period, after flowering and fruiting.

PUMMER GEORGIAN

Pasque Georgian (Pulsatilla georgica) is found in nature in the Caucasus. Plant up to 15-23 cm tall. It blooms simultaneously with the appearance of leaves, in late April - early May. The flowers are medium-sized, bell-shaped, drooping, purple. The leaves are lush, strongly dissected. It resembles the previous species, but has slightly larger corollas and extremely hairy peduncles and flower calyxes.

PUNCH PURPLE

Purple backache (Pulsatilla violacea) also grows in the Caucasus. Plant up to 15-25 cm tall. It blooms simultaneously with the appearance of leaves, in late April - early May. The flowers are bell-shaped, semi-drooping, light purple or bluish. The leaves are openwork, with numerous thin lobes. plant with extraordinary delicate flowers, a real jewel of spring!

GALLER BATTLE

Haller's lumbago (Pulsatilla halleri) naturally found in mountainous regions Central Europe and in the Crimea. Plant 10-15 cm tall. The stem after flowering can lengthen up to 30 cm. It blooms for a month at the end of April-May, before the leaves appear. Corolla 5-6 cm long, purple, fading as it fades. Easily propagated by seeds, young plants bloom in the 5-8th year. Winter-hardy.

ABOUT CHANGE

Due to the peculiarities of the structure of the root system (a long tap root that goes to great depths), adult specimens of sleep-grass do not tolerate transplantation very well.

In case of emergency, it is carried out in spring or early autumn, and the clod of earth on the roots must be kept as large as possible.

How to rejuvenate

In one place, backaches grow up to 10 years, then the plant begins to age, the central root is destroyed, and the specimen gradually breaks up into separate bushes. A similar process can be observed in garden strawberry. New plants obtained in this way can be transplanted, but it is preferable to rejuvenate the plantings and replace the old backache with a new one grown from seeds.

Sleep grass care is simple and comes down to regular weeding and watering during dry periods.

Backache is practically not susceptible to diseases and pest attacks.

it is recommended to shade slightly. Seeds germinate in 3-4 weeks rapid growth contributes to hot weather in combination with watering. Experts recommend sprinkling crops with a thin layer of hay - this retains moisture in the soil and protects seedlings from sudden changes in temperature. If there is little seed material, sowing is best done in pots or boxes. Sowing in a container is good because it can be started in early spring, in March-April, in a greenhouse or on a windowsill.

Reproduction of lumbago

Vegetative propagation of sleep-grass occurs naturally as a result of aging. Seed propagation is more profitable for a number of reasons. First, in this way they get fresh planting material that takes root easily, grows quickly and pleases with abundant flowering for longer. Secondly, seedlings, as a rule, give a whole range of flower colors. The germination of seeds of lumbago is high, it lasts for 2-3 years, and young plants can please with abundant flowering in 2-3 years.

Sowing seeds of lumbago

Seeds of lumbago ripen 1-1.5 months after the end of flowering. best result can be achieved by sowing them freshly harvested (in June-July), good germination occurs in those sown in late spring in well-warmed soil. Crops before winter are usually not so successful.

The soil for sowing should be light and well-drained. It is useful to add a small amount of peat and sand to it, as well as mineral fertilizers. Seeds are sown in the ground, in grooves located at a distance of 20 cm. The depth of embedding is 1-1.5 cm. It has been proven that the thicker the seeds are placed, the more amicably they germinate. Seedlings prefer an open location, but at noon they

OUR REFERENCE

Sleep-grass, like many buttercups, is poisonous. In folk medicine, it is used as a hypnotic and sedative, to treat coughs, and improves liver function.

Considering poisonous properties types of lumbago, you can take drugs from them only under the supervision of a doctor. Interestingly, some American Indian tribes used lumbago as a contraceptive, as well as to enhance labor activity. modern medicine confirmed this action.

Seedlings of lumbago

Young plants obtained from seeds of summer sowing are suitable for planting in a permanent place in the spring of next year, early spring - already in August-September of the same year. The recommended distance between specimens is 30-50 cm. It should be remembered that for better survival, plants are transplanted at the age of 1-2 years (not later!), Trying to capture as much clod of earth as possible, and spring planting is preferable. Autumn crops and immature seedlings are covered with spruce branches for the winter, adult plants are frost-resistant.

Shot in the flower garden

Backache looks great both in groups and in the form of single specimens. Groups are more advantageous in large areas, for example along tree or shrub plantations, on lawns. Single plants will decorate a small rock garden, a composition of snags. It goes well with some low-growing cereals, such as fescue, which often coexists in nature ...

Sleep grass will wake up spring

Backache, pulsatilla or sleep-grass - under such names we know this wonderful spring plant.

A delicate, fluffy flower is the first in my garden to announce the beginning of spring. Try and you grow this little miracle.

Sowing lumbago

A few years ago, the backache went to a permanent sunny place before winter. I dug up the soil deeply, because the roots of the lumbago are very long -40-50 cm. The earth should be fertile and loose, so I added compost. The seeds were planted to a depth of 0.5-0.7 cm.

Advice

If there are few seeds, then stratification can be carried out: in February, place them in wet sand for 4-6 weeks, and then germinate at room temperature in pots with subsequent transfer to open ground.

Sowing can also be done in the spring immediately into the ground (but keep in mind that seedlings will appear in a few weeks, and some - only the next year).

Shoots and seedlings

In the first days of May, friendly shoots appeared. All summer I took care of the seedlings: watered, loosened, fed once with complex mineral fertilizer shaded from the bright sun. By autumn, the seedlings had 3 tender dissected leaves.

First winter and spring

The plants spent the first winter under cover of pine branches. In the spring of next year, I was pleased with strong shoots with silvery pubescence and even 2 shaggy buds.

The buds grew rapidly in the sun and soon turned bright blue-violet color. Blooming shoots delighted me for 3 weeks, then the leaves began to develop intensively.

beauty all season

Sleep-grass does not lose its attractiveness all season. The plant is eye catching large flowers(up to 5 cm in diameter), pubescent stems and buds, carved lush greenery,

The germination of lumbago seeds depends on the storage time. The sooner it was sown after harvest, the more friendly the seedlings.

decorative until late autumn. In June - July, lumbago curtains are covered with tufted caps of pubescent seeds.

In the spring of the third year after the snow melted, groups of hairy buds appeared. When they blossomed, my joy knew no bounds. Purple, white, creamy yellow and cherry blossoms are just amazing!

Division and transplantation of the lumbago

The plant eventually grew into a large curtain. I decided to plant her. I had to make a lot of work: the roots turned out to be so powerful, as if I were uprooting an old shrub. The division of the curtain was carried out in early spring before the appearance of leaves.

For planting delenok (large - 4-5 buds), I dug deep holes so that the root straightened out to its full length. I watered the plantings and shaded them from the bright spring sun for the first 2-3 days.

Care for backache in the fall

Sleep-grass gives a strong self-seeding, and if there is no task to collect my seeds, I cut off the faded flowers. For the first years, I did not perform this operation, and in the spring, lumbago seedlings sprouted around the “moss” curtain.

In late autumn, I definitely cut off the foliage so that in the spring the plant does not lose its decorative effect (removing dry leaves in spring can damage the buds), so that the flower buds do not support and deprive the mice of a warm winter.

Shot - strong unpretentious plant. For all the time that the dream book has been growing in my garden, no insects have damaged it, and it has never been sick. This lovely spring flower will take worthy place.

Open lumbago, or sleep-grass (Pulsatilla patens)

cultivation

Likes open sunny places, light shade is acceptable.

In the first year after planting, the plants need to be covered with spruce branches, then it winters well under the snow and without shelter.

The optimal soil is sandy.

Waterlogging, as well as excessive drying of the soil, sleep-grass does not tolerate. Therefore, watering is needed only in drought.

The plant is planted in an open area, only a slight shadow is acceptable.

The soil before planting sleep-grass must be well seasoned with fertilizers. The plant loves lime, responds well to nitrogen, it needs potassium and phosphorus.

The younger the sleep-grass, the easier it is to transplant; adult plants do not take root well. The easiest way to propagate lumbago seeds. They usually ripen in July, it makes no sense to collect them earlier.

For migraine, cough, bronchitis, bronchial asthma, whooping cough, nervous overexcitation, insomnia, irritability, hysteria, benign tumors of the prostate gland, painful menstruation, to reduce premenopausal manifestations.

Recipes with stonecrop

2 tsp dry grass backache pour 1 tbsp. boiling water, boil for 15 minutes. in a water bath, cool at room temperature, strain and squeeze, add boiled water to the original volume. Take 1 tbsp. 3 times a day.

With rheumatism, arthrosis, arthritis, gout (infusion for applying lotions to the affected joints) 1 tbsp. herbs pour 1 tbsp. boiling water, leave for 12 hours, strain.

Stonecrop contraindications

Individual intolerance, periods of pregnancy and lactation, peptic ulcer of the stomach and duodenum, diseases of the gastrointestinal tract and kidneys, age up to 12 years - with caution.

This poisonous plant, therefore, use it only as prescribed by a doctor, strictly observing the dosage!

My shots

It is often written that the backache does not tolerate reproduction by dividing the bush. And I decided to check this statement, although I knew that the plant does not like transplants and can grow in one place for a long time.

At the end of August, I divided a three-year-old sleep-grass bush. It turned out eight divisions. planted them in different places garden by adding fertilizer "Kemira. Autumn”, and watered well. Next, monitor soil moisture. In the spring, all the bushes came out from under the snow alive, and most importantly, five of them bloomed. So I realized that backache can also be propagated vegetatively, it is only important not to divide the bushes in late autumn (in a warm, prolonged autumn - no later than October) and create divisions

Good conditions.

After flowering, seeds are formed that ripen in early August. It is better to sow them in the same autumn, while they are fresh. During the winter, the seeds will undergo a natural stratification in the garden.

Sowing for seedlings

The seeds of the lumbago were sown for the first time in the second half of February. The container was filled with peat, spilled with "Fitosporin" (10 drops / 1 tbsp. Water). I laid out the seeds, sprayed them with water with Epin (0.5 ml / l of water), covered them with sand with a layer of 4-5 mm and sprayed again. I left it for a couple of hours to soak the soil. Then she wrapped the container in polyethylene and put it in dark room with a temperature of 0-+5 degrees, for stratification (can be put in the refrigerator).

Around the beginning of March, I took off the film and put the crops on a warm, light windowsill. Friendly shoots appeared after 2 weeks.

The main thing in further care- do not forget to water. When a pair of leaves appeared, the seedlings dived. Feed three times during the summer liquid fertilizer"Barrel and 4 buckets" (according to instructions). In early August, landed on a permanent place. Seedlings bloom in the third year. Backache prefers a bright place and fertile soil. It does not tolerate stagnant water, but needs to moisten the soil as it dries. Winters without shelter.

  • In mid-April, when the first real warmth only yesterday melted the remnants of snowdrifts, yellow stars will bloom in the glades and hillocks of the hills of the Urals and Western Siberia. It will bloom backache or, as it is called in another way by the people - a dream grass flower.

    flower lumbago

    She was nicknamed Pulsatilla for her delicate purple, pale blue, red or yellow flowers that appear early. These are the first signs of spring, the first blooming joy of nature. The name "sleep-grass" is interesting plant received due to the fact that it really has a slight hypnotic effect. And in the Urals, where it is most common, these flowers are also called snowdrops, because real snowdrops do not grow there.

    The lumbago flower emerges from a bunch of shaggy, freshly hatched leaves. And he is fluffy and soft. The pile protects it from both frost and heat. Later, when the lumbago fades, a "shaggy" with seeds appears in place of the flower, and its leaves grow and become large. The plant has a straight or slightly deviating root that goes deep into the ground. For this reason, the plant is almost impossible to divide, and transplanting it is also difficult. It propagates by seeds. The achenes are equipped with hairs, which then twist into a spiral, pulling the achenes into the soil like a corkscrew.

    Types of backache common in Russia

    In many countries, including some entities Russian Federation this unique plant is listed in the Red Book. In the Russian expanses, several of its species grow:

    • Spring Pasque blooms with white bells with a slightly bluish tint on the outside of the color, has an edge.

    • Pasque yellow blooms with yellow or ivory flowers, common in the Ural mountains.

    • Chinese backache is common in rocky hills, open grasslands of Northern China and Eastern Siberia. The flowers of its delicate purple color, the petals are slightly bent.

    • Kostychev's backache grows only in Altai, this is a plant that does not live anywhere else. Blooms with pink flowers.

    • Pasque meadow is common in the European part of Russia, its flowers are maroon.

    • Common lumbago in nature is common in the European part of Russia, and in Siberia. Its natural color is dark purple, but varieties of pink, red, white, yellow flowers are derived from it.

    Use as a drug

    If there was a grass rating for good night, backache, of course, would be in it on the first lines. Sleep-grass has a hypnotic, mild psychotropic effect. A magical effect was attributed to this plant, it was used in predictions of the future. Even animals can be affected by sleep grass if they try its greens in the spring. Also, from the leaves and flowers of sleep-grass, a tincture is made that cures rheumatism of the joints, skin diseases.

    When and how to plant in the garden

    To grow backache in your area, you will have to work hard, and take care of the seeds in advance. The fact is that the seeds of sleep-grass must necessarily undergo stratification in order for friendly shoots to appear. Therefore, they are sown in the period from January to March, depending on the climate. Stratification lasts three months, the seeds are planted, watered, kept for several days to swell, and then brought outside and covered with snow. They stay there until the snow melts. That's the only way to keep them all. natural conditions, and get shoots.

    Then the plants are grown to 2-3 true leaves, and then transplanted into the ground. This is a very responsible operation, because backache does not like transplants. Sleep-grass takes root well on calcareous soils. Seedlings are planted at a distance of 30-40 centimeters from each other. For decorative purposes, this plant is usually used in alpine slides.

    A flower from the Ranunculaceae family is often called sleep-grass or anemone. And both of these names are “speaking”. "Sleep-grass" - because the aerial parts of this plant are the basis for the manufacture of preparations with a hypnotic effect, and the name "anemone" is due to the plant's extreme sensitivity to even the slightest breath of wind.

    Backache (Pulsatilla) is distributed throughout the Northern Hemisphere. The genus includes about 40 species, many of which have been known since time immemorial and have long been used in horticulture.

    Wherever you live, it is likely that at least one type of lumbago grows in your area. Where sleep-grass grows, there is usually a lot of sun. This plant loves warm places: edges, meadows, soddy slopes. Occasionally it can be found in light pine forests. Flowers growing in the mountains prefer open, grassy areas.

    As you can see in the photo, the lumbago flower is a rather large plant:

    The diameter of an adult bush can reach half a meter. The leaves of the lumbago grow during flowering or later. Unlike most May flowers, sleep-grass blooms for a long time, 2-3 weeks. The most "long-playing" can bloom as early as June. And early views - backache open (P. patens) And yellowing (P.flavescens) - on the contrary, overtake most snowdrops, opening flowers in April.

    Look at the photo, what a cross flower of different types looks like:

    Turchaninov's blue-eyed lumbago

    fluffy yellowing

    Many-faced common

    modest bell-shaped

    All are good without exception - and blue-eyed lumbago Turchaninov (P. turczaninovii), And fluffy yellowing, And many-sided ordinary (P. vulgaris), And humble bell-shaped (P. campanella), And mother-of-pearl fluffy spring (P. vernalis). All of them winter well, while each is sweet and charming in its own way.

    Here are photos of sleep-grass, the description of the species of which is given above:

    Growing a flower lumbago in the garden

    Backache (sleep-grass) grows well in the sun itself. Of course, you can plant it in partial shade. But experience shows that abundant flowering in this case, don't wait. And plants covered with crowns of large deciduous trees, wither away in 3-4 years.

    Below are a photo of the flower lumbago and a description of the agricultural technology of its cultivation:

    Sleep-grass goes well with spring. For example, common lumbago and stemless primrose hybrids bloom at the same time.

    Also, in the immediate vicinity of the backache, you can plant small-bulbous ones that do not require digging. In the spring, the bulbous ones will flourish, and in the summer the leaves of the lumbago will cover the empty place.

    With larger herbaceous perennials, backache also gets along well. It is important that the neighbors do not grow too actively. Sunny varieties of hosts and Chinese miscanthus, and, and even, planted at some distance, will make good company for backache.

    When choosing a place to grow a flower, keep in mind that you are planting it forever. The fact is that an adult plant is almost impossible to transplant. The long, deeply penetrating roots are very vulnerable and should not be disturbed. But with successful placement, sleep-grass bushes can please the grower for at least fifteen years. When planting, add crushed limestone or dolomite flour to the hole.

    In nature, they grow most often on quite fertile soils. In the spring, you can (but with caution) add mullein, in the summer - a mineral complex fertilizer, and closer to autumn - phosphorus-potassium. But even if you do not feed backache, they will still grow and bloom beautifully.

    The conditions for the growth of backache in nature indicate that these plants cannot stand getting soaked. This rule applies to all types without exception. Drought - please, especially if the sleep-grass has already taken root. But dive headlong into the spring melt water can lead to the death of the plant.

    Backaches are quite difficult to propagate. Professionals sometimes propagate sleep-grass with root cuttings, and sowing seeds is more accessible to an amateur.

    Seeds of most types of sleep-grass do not need stratification. The exception is the alpine backache (R. alpina) and its varieties. Other types of sleep-grass successfully germinate in the sun when the soil warms up well. They sow lumbago at home, in March, when the sun, as they say, is spattering with all its might. Sometimes seedlings have to be helped to shed their “hat”. The young ones will be “shot through” at the stage of two or three true leaves, I plant them in tall cups. In them, young people are waiting for landing in the ground.

    When sown in March, sleep-grass grows better. By autumn it develops quite big bush, which may bloom next spring. If you sow lumbago later, the first flowers will have to wait a year longer.
