A good alternative, especially for followers of natural farming, are orange peels. The limonene contained in them destroys the protective wax coating that covers the bodies of insect pests. The strong pungent odor repels ants and aphids. Orange peels are laid out around the affected plants and strung on the most infected branches. Limonene, in addition to aphids and ants, effectively repels fleas, ticks and mosquitoes. Boil the crusts in water, let the composition brew for 2-3 hours, then strain it through cheesecloth. The resulting product is suitable for spraying diseased plants, removing fleas from dogs and cats, repelling mosquitoes and ticks (it is especially useful in the forest, it is enough to spray a little on clothes to achieve the effect).

This post as you may have guessed, there will be another remedy that ants do not like. I give a guarantee, if it were not for the pictures below, then it would be impossible to guess the first time. Although, maybe someone already uses the skins of the citrus family for these purposes.
Actually, I was going to use ground skins against slugs, but decided to try on ants as well. Peppers have not yet been planted in open ground, and it is impossible to check the effect of skins on gastropods "friends". Therefore, last night (May 3) I sprinkled this drug inside a birch log.
Well, and after such a result, I threw a pinch of these skins on all the anthills that I found and under the bushes with currants.
Now, I want to tell the background why I decided to use citrus skins ...
You understand, when we peel a tangerine, an orange, a grapefruit or something else, then inadvertently splashes from squeezed skins can get into the eyes. So? Happenes! And the eye starts to tingle. Then I decided to try this property (pinching) on slugs. Then, I decided to grind them in a coffee grinder. We had an ancient coffee grinder and I thought that coffee beans are much harder in terms of hardness, which means that the skins will be ground in flight. But it wasn't there.
Some skins stuck under the knife and slowed down the threshing. I had to constantly open the lid of the coffee grinder and pull out or straighten these stuck skins. In short, "hemorrhoids", and the winding of the coffee grinder motor began to smell. I cut these skins a little and thought how to get by with "little blood"?
Then I decided to do it easier.
I took an ordinary meat grinder screwed it to ironing board, sat on the sofa in front of the TV and did two things at once - watched TV and "meat-chopped" dry skins. It was a little harder than with the grinder, but quieter (the grinder motor makes a lot of noise).
And so in a couple of hours, I got two containers of cottage cheese tightly packed from this package.

Although you may try this and that. As you like it and it will be easier, do it. Winter is long and during this period you can thresh so much that it will remain for sale (just kidding). But seriously, in winter you can, without any problems, slowly and slowly prepare some other “lotions” to scare away bad insects from our plants. How long the citrus “scarecrow” will act on the ants, I don’t know. Perhaps it will be different for everyone, as it was with the action of millet - it worked for someone, but not for someone.

- 350 grams of dried citrus peels are soaked in warm water until they swell. Together with the liquid, the blender turns it into a gruel, which is transferred to liter jar. Top up with water and insist 5-7 days. After that, the infusion is filtered, a tablespoon of laundry soap is added. Before spraying, half a glass of infusion is diluted in a bucket of water.
- peel from 2-3 oranges is crushed, poured with a liter of warm water, and then insisted in the dark for a week. After straining, dilute with two liters of water and add a tablespoon liquid soap for sticking.

We will need:
- half-liter glass jar;
- peel from 2-3 large oranges;
- bottle of white vinegar.
We line the inside of the jar with orange peels so that as much as possible enters. Then fill the jar with vinegar, covering the crusts completely. We tightly cork and send the jar to a dark, cool place for two weeks. Then we filter. The universal cleaner is ready! Before use, it is diluted with water 50:50.
You can wash everything with orange vinegar. Combined with normal baking soda it cleans well even the grill and oven.

tea leaves And coffee grounds have been used since very ancient times as a fertilizer for indoor plants. It is enough just to pour cooled tea or tea leaves directly from the teapot into the soil. True, sometimes after such fertilizer, midges may appear in the soil. To prevent midges from appearing in flowers, pour only the tea infusion, do not add the tea leaves itself to the soil. You can dry the sleeping tea and coffee grounds thoroughly, and then add them to the soil. Seedlings are fed with tea leaves infused for 5 days after filtering.
Garlic protect against pests and fungi. It is enough just to stick garlic cloves into a pot with a plant, they will protect it from fungal diseases and will strengthen its immunity. The cloves won't germinate if you cut them in half.
Sugar most in a simple way dilute in water at the rate of: 1 teaspoon per glass of water and pour the soil with such a sweet solution. You need to do this once a week 2-3 times a year. Only weak and diseased flowers need such top dressing. By the way, cacti are very fond of sugar. Yeast are an excellent growth stimulant for a wide variety of house flowers. But you should not just add them to the ground, but prepare yeast dressing in advance: you need to take 10 grams of ready-made yeast, 1 tablespoon of sugar needs to be mixed well in one liter a little warm water. You can also use dry yeast (you can buy it in the same place as ready-made yeast, in almost any store), but dilute it in water in slightly different proportions: for 5 grams of dry yeast, you should take only 1.5 tablespoons of sugar and dilute the data ingredients in 5 liters of water. The yeast infusion should be infused for 2 hours, after which the yeast dressing should be diluted with water at the rate of 1:5 and poured over with it. in the usual way earth in pots.
